One thing about the early days of Y&R, did Katherine ever interact with Jennifer Brooks ? I have seen group cast photos of them together, but never the two by themselves or any storyline synopsis of Kay & Jenn. I was always curious if Dorothy Green and Jeanne Cooper had a good off screen relationship since they were both old school actresses that did a ton of movie and tv work before Y&R.

Not sure. There certainly isn't any reason for them to have shared a scene, as the stories had no connection at all to each other. Kay seemed isolated to Jill and her family and the men they fought over until about 1980 and Jennifer Brooks died in 1977. Jennifer's story was mostly about Bruce Henderson and their affair and Lori's paternity, then her illnesses.

If they did share a scene it may have been incidental, possibly at the country club or something during the Jill/Phillip/Kay storyline. Or if Jennifer had any scenes with Liz and Kay happened to be there too.

I assume that Kay and Jenn knew each other since they were from GC society. I remember reading a synopsis from 1976 that talked about Bill and Liz remarrying and that Stu and Jenn gave them a gift of a honeymoon trip to Hawaii. Kay was mentioned as being upset because she had fallen for Bill Foster herself. It would be interesting to find some stuff of them interacting. I do remember one cast photo on the stairs and Jeanne is standing next to Dorothy Green.

I read Jeanne Cooper's new book and she talked about her first day on the Y&R set. She said the cast came out to greet her and welcome her to the show. She said she was touched by how nice everyone was and was afraid she wouldn't be able to remember all their names. She said she then heard a familiar voice and looked up and across the room William Gray Espy (Snapper # 1) greeted her with a big hug. She said they had met and become friends on a movie they did the year before with Raquel Welch. She had gotten him a massage because since he wasn't the main star of the film, the higher ups ignored him.He was doing some physical stuff playing a hockey player.

She said William turned to everyone and said "this woman can get things done that you wouldn't believe". She then said one cast member that instantly caught her attention was a little spitfire named Brenda Dickson. She later talked about how Brenda and her first didn't get along and then later became friends. Brenda was showing up late and acting like a Diva. Her stories were hilarious. She said she asked Brenda in one rehearsal to pick up a coat and Brenda took an attitude and acted as if she had asked her to wash and kiss her ass......LOL

Jeanne also mentioned that when she showed up on the first day, she met John Considine (Phillip # 1) and they started running lines, when John Conboy(I think it was) walked up and said there is no need to do that, he will no longer be playing Phillip. She said she felt so horrible for him that they had fired him on the spot like that. She also discussed being close friends with Julianna McCarthy (Liz). As far as the other 70's cast members, she talked about how sweet they all were and how Y&R became a safe haven for her when her marriage was falling apart. Later in the book she talks about being close with a number of cast member particularly Terry Lester.

John Considine as Phillip - one of those early Y&R mysteries. How long was he on? So Phillip was seen before Katherine? How did that play?

I remember in French Fan's synopses that Lorie Brooks and Phillip had a connection that I had forgotten about or never saw.But I don't think Jen would have been involved.

It may have been one of those Bill Bell things where he would trial something, see how it played onscreen and take it from there. Like the Maestro and Liz Foster.

Yes she does. There is a chapter called co-stars toward the end and she gives her thougths on them. They are mainly the ones in the current cast like Braeden, MTS, Jess, Doug Davidson etc.........She talks about when they came on the show and her relationship with them. It's a great book.

The funny thing about her saying he was fired her first day is I know for a fact I saw a scene with her and Considine in the Chancellor living room. She had long hair at the time. Maybe since it had been so long she forgot. It didn't look like a screen test, but an actual scene from an episode. They were talking and I seem to recall she had a glass in her hand.

Kay always had a glass in her hand in those days! You could be right and Jeanne may have forgotten the sequence of events.

From everything written,it seems that Jill came across Katherine at the beauty shop and befriended her. Then Phillip was introduced. Maybe what happened is that Considine only lasted a few days and Jeanne recalled that event ,having hardly acted with him at all and then told he was gone.

I wonder why TPTB rejected Considine. Maybe he was non contract and decided to leave himself.

    • Oh, really? I didn't see that at all. Ted's only been loving and supportive, even with this reveal I still haven't seen anything too dark from him. Shitty father and husband, sure. My one nitpick is that they could have accomplished that without having another affair though.
    • Remember post-ATWT how Brooke Alexander was in eight million commercials and home improvement shows?  She was the epitome of a mid 90s consumer surrogate. Meanwhile, Kelly Menighan worked the heck out of the short hairdo for years, and never got a beauty contract.  TBH, her whole vibe gave Midwest suburbs, as interpreted through the eyes of a Manhattan costume department with a network budget for designer goods. She was definitely sophisticated given her limited access to shopping at Lisa's Boutique in Oakdale.

    • Absolutely agree. Nicole's reaction to Ted, and Kat's reaction to Eva, will be interesting.
    • One tiny problem. Apparently she just inked a new deal. All it means, though, is that they will want to get some mileage out of her before they implement the DRW50 Master Plan. What do ya think? 6 months too short? 3 years def too long. A year and a half?
    • Your haughtiness amuses me in return. Like you think you know ALL?

    • Ted has been icky and giving off bad guy vibe from the first moment I saw him. I have a sensor for that and it was beeping! So...don't put all the blame on Silkpress. The woman needs a good psychiatrist, true... but Leslie is just one of the skeletons in HIS closet. Ted is even a bigger monster, because he's hidden.  IT WAS A PERFECT REVEAL. Perfect, because in the beginning of the show... Dani was envying her sister's marriage... In these first few messy weeks... her own misery and life spiraling was contrasted to the picture-perfect marriage Nicole and Ted seemed to have. (on first glance). What happened now... is very very smart writing. THIS IS THE MOMENT THE MASKS ARE FALLING! The message it delivers to me is this. It says - no matter how things look... they are not what they seem. You can't judge a marriage by how it appears to be. Aaaand in the long run... maybe the messiest-looking people (Dani Dupree, I'm talking about you!) HAVE less issues and problems than the ones that seem to have it all. The ones with the MOST skeletons in the closets and the dirty pasts.   It was an AHA moment for the whole family and the viewers and a way forward for Dani and Nicole to bond even more and realize they are MORE alike than they are different. Now it will be quite a different dynamic, because Dani will have to SUPPORT someone and not be the one getting her wounds licked always. And also another lesson. Some men are dogs. Not all of them. But a lot of them are. The difference is... some can't be easily recognized. These creeps have put very impressive masks. The show is doing this perfectly. Beat by beat. Exploring classic soap opera themes and stories. Real-life characters and situations, that are relatable and make you think... Hmm... maybe I need to dig a little deeper next time I say "these people are perfect" or otherwise. Maybe I need to think MORE. That type of storytelling. It's not easy to do that.  Brava BTG.  B-R-A-V-A!
    • I speculate that Nicole will go through cycles of numbness/grief/rage.  At some point later on, regardless of DNA results (or faked results), whether there was a baby swap or not, I think Nicole will forgive Eva, and eventually love her someday.  Nicole will come to understand that Leslie gaslighted/manipulated Eva.  Nicole will be her loving self, although more guarded than before.   Just my thoughts.
