Heard back from Ryan. He said it was so long ago he can't remember exactly whether it was he or Ron who initially suggested mentioning Jason47, but ended the message saying "I'm glad we got to give you a little shout out on-air. You're amazing."

You know I totally get the message. Days content is copyright protected, the show is produced to make money, it’s fair for them to be angry BUT, neither Corday or Sony(who own the rights to distribute the show) make any effort at all for fans to watch classic content.

I know about music copyrights and actors residuals, but you have 15,000 episodes to pull from. Early episodes are not as restrictive to share as the 80s and 90s content. Share things on social media, perhaps Peacock can post classic content or select episodes. These things help keep fans engaged, especially now while they burn through the utter garbage that they allowed to be produced under the banner of Days of our Lives. Honestly, fan engagement is the main reason these clips are shared. No one is making money off posting clips on social media. Fans just want to chat with others and share moments they enjoyed from times when the show was in a better place.

It’s just so frustrating and annoying, especially while we wait for hopefully brighter days ahead. They need to put more effort in what they’re currently selling and leave fans alone.

I'm lost. What happened? Did you get a cease and desist? Or worse did you lose a file? Going back to April this has been an aggressive campaign against most people posting DAYS clips. A theory has emerged that Sony is doing this *now* because of the 60th anniversary. You are not alone. It's driving many people crazy!

And, they don't even seem to respect the existence of FAIR USE. Even if a clip is under 3 minutes, they will still go after it. 3 MINUTES?!!!

I noticed that a lot of people (on social media and messageboards) seem to be interpreting this dayspeacock "ladywhistleblower" announcement as a directive to stop posting clips of the show.

But I didn't read it that way.   They specifically reference the Days tiktok account, and from how they worded it, I took it literally -- I interpreted it to mean that somebody copied the dayspeacock tiktok account with a lot of its content, and created their own similar account to share stuff.  The show is pissed -- and the show is using Lady Whistleblower to complain (because the stupid "powers that be" think we viewers all love the LadyWhistleblower storyline and will pay attention to that).

I mean I could be wrong, but that's how I'm reading it.

Basically like an actor saying  "xyz facebook isn't my account but someone made a copy of my page with all its content, so don't be fooled."

The LadyWhistleblower announcement even says:  "beware of imposters"  ... just like an annoyed actor would say if there was a imposter actor page.  Except that an actor would speak plainly and not use a stupid storyline device to convey the message.

Speaking of impersonators, they seem to be growing. Now not only Peter Reckell & his wife, but Steve Burton, & several others. Y&R actors had a rash of fake accounts. They are warning fans if someone asks you for money, it's not us, it's a sham, a scammer, a schemer, we wiil not ask you for money, you can count on that.

I had a question asked, so seeing if anyone might know: Prior to the Day of Days event in November 2008, does anyone know if there were any big cast events like that at some point from 2000-2007, and what the name of it was?

Michael Mattes has attended Days events and takes photos.
Decades ago, he had a website with the photos, and here it is:
https://web.archive.org/web/20011211225331/http://daysofourlives.simplenet.com/album/
He still takes Days event photos.
He is now one of the hosts of Dishin Days, so you could contact him there -- he'd probably have a list of past events.

About a servant of Vivian's, Gus not Ivan, what was the foreign language term Viv referred to him as?

@Mona Kane Croft@janea4old

As of 11-4-2009 Viv is obsessed with Carly & charged Gus with locating her. He reports finding her - in Salem. Viv laughs & declares, "Carly is nothing if not predictable."

The bad news is she's consistently called him "Gus" for the last 4 days.

11-9-2009 Well, this was bound to happen. Who is the baby Nicole has with her all the time? Also, I am amazed at how large the cast is.

Sorry, Mona, still no luck.

I just answered this in the other thread, but I guess it has been moved here now? Which I didn't see until posting my answer there!

REPLY IN OTHER THREAD:

I remember there was an odd word I hadn't heard that Vivian used for Gus, but can't think of it now. I think I probably looked it up the day she used it 15 or so years ago.

In regards to the "other" manservant, Are you talking about the Torres bodyguard Manny? Also, Lawrence had his helper, Gregory Lacost, played by Clayton Landey, who was around before Vivian/Ivan in 1991, but who returned for 2 episodes (4/29/92 and 4/30/92)

@JAS0N47 see the post directly above yours on this page.
It was Gus Pascal.

Update, I looked at @Mona Kane Croft's original question.  ... Mona referred to Maggie in the sarcophagus.  And what was Vivian's name for his job title

I checked to when Maggie in the sarcophagus happened; and it was autumn 2010.

Then I looked at Jason47's episode cast lists for 2010, to see when Gus aired in autumn 2010.
https://jason47.com/days/daybyday2010.html

Then I checked those episodes against the transcripts for autumn 2010 and found it!

Transcript from Monday Sept. 13, 2010 Canada or Tuesday Sept. 14, 2010 USA
https://tvmegasite.net/transcripts/days/older/2010/trans-da-09-13-10.shtml

Gus: Madame, my name is Gus. I am--was Vivian Alamain's amanuensis.

Maggie: So that's what you call it.

    • There has been some confusion about Michael & facial burns. Please see this post: https://bsky.app/profile/shallotpeel.bsky.social/post/3lqkrryu54226 I've chosen to put this here instead of the Classic Thread because it is now with the appearance of recast Michael that this has come up. Different places online, including at least one podcast, remarks have been made about how remarkable it is that he is without facial scarring. Other fans say it was clear from the first that he did not have facial burns. What is included in this post is 2 screengrabs where you can see his face at the hospital & a very quick edit of that day in the hospital.
    • Put me in the LOVE KMH camp. As a poster alluded to above, her detractors seem to come from people who first experienced the 80s Emily actress. And that's often the case with soaps, myself included. I enjoy the original actor so much that I just never take to the recast. However, KMH played Emily far longer than the original - for almost 20 years - and when she had great material, she was great. I get the sense she didn't like playing the whiny oh-woe-is-me Emily which was all the material she got from about 1996 until she took over the Intruder in late '99/early '00 and got to play a stronger kiss-ass woman who didn't care what anyone thought of her. (Some would call that a bitch but, if a man was in that role, he'd just be called a smart and savvy businessman.) Her relationship with Hal was great. The transformation was done realistically and I thoroughly enjoyed those years the best out of all. Once the writers decided to break up those two, they went back to writing Emily half the time as whiny and pathetic. I preferred when the writers made her stronger.
    • Hahaha - I do. I've always been the type, though, that can't miss anything. I get FOMO, so I'll not skip episodes or fast forward anything. There are only a few TV shows I've dropped because they got so bad vs. sticking it out to the end.  The promise that GL 1997 is better is what keeps me going. I especially want to see the fallout of Blake's lie about her twins and then Annie's descent which I believe won Watros's Emmy.
    • Rita's rape is an episode i constantly search on YouTube hoping one day that it will show up. I always feel like I may have seen it, but I was only 6 at the time and can never figure any of the things I have vague recollection of
    • FROM THE VAULT: NON-SOAP DAYTIME RATINGS: HIGHLIGHTS FROM FEBRUARY 1973 & MAY 1973:

FROM THE VAULT: NON-SOAP DAYTIME RATINGS: HIGHLIGHTS FROM AUGUST 1973 & NOVEMBER 1973:
    • The rape was in 1979 after they were married. Blake was the result of Holly cheating with him while she was married to Ed. I believe she was born in 1975.
    • No. Ed and Holly were married and having problems. She had an affair with Roger and that's when Christina--Blake--was conceived. The rape happened much later, after Holly and Roger were married.
    • Was Blake the product of Roger raping Holly, or did that come after when they were a couple?
    • I really wish we could see that episode...absolutely, my memory could be faulty, it was a very long time ago. I'm not going to contradict what the actors said--there has to be a reason it made them so uncomfortable that they talked about it in the press and complained to TPTB. I think that was the first one where they made the point that they wanted to educate the audience about the subject.
