Oh, see, we've got to a better place & even if not, we can laugh at it! In common, in like: WN, LR, RKK, VM I guess, DH, ED, ... It's okay that you don't like Crystal as a lot of us do & we've got her covered. They really did make it the Carly show. And, people used to whine her name, KerLEeeee, it would set my teeth on edge. Stacy is better at Susan than she is at Kristen, which is strange. I think it's a disservice to the character & the fans, just like having RS & LD stand in for Vivian for awhile. Not cool with that, not copasetic. I was fine with Cady McClain & I am prepared for a Hope recast. I don't know if anyone cares anymore that something could be a disservice to a character.

I think Bo/Carly got some great writing and the coupling was set up well. Carly was just suddenly everywhere all the time! Although I think 1992 was an awful year for Days.  Aside from being the Carly show, there was bratty, new, Carrie, the John/Romulus plot, the Hawk/Jen/Jack thing, Bo being gone, bad teens (Faith/Tanner), Roman undercover as Mrs. Doubtfire, Kayla/Shane, etc. etc. etc.  Yuck!  It didn't ramp up until Izzy B croaked and Stella chucked Marlena into a pit.  I know there were major behind the scenes changes but it's so hard to watch overall.  The show turned it around quick, by Feb 93 things are happening and gelling.

Stacy is better as Susan and that's not a weird take.  Although the writing for her Kristen has been bonkers-Eileen can walk in and it all makes sense.  It's a very stark difference.

Kristen probably belongs in the thread of characters that can't be recast just because the original actress is so iconic and tied to the role.

That's how I feel about Brenda on GH.  You could recast because it's been so long and you could find someone, but no matter how good they are my affection is more for the actress in the role than the actual role, you know?

Hated NuCarrie, mocked John/Romulous, had blocked out Hawk & now you've ruined it!, Mrs. Doubtfire, Faith & Tanner, groan. I really mostly recall making fun of the show which is never a good sign. Online fans can be so vicious when they're in the mode to ridicule. (And, so good at it, and I am including myself as being bad to do it.)

Lessee, Kristen the character that cannot be recast but has been! :trumpet fanfare:

What I think about BrendaAndSonny, that's one word, is that it was propaganda & they brainwashed everyone. We were like fuzzy little goslings & they imprinted on us & the very idea of BrendaAndSonny will forever seem somehow dreamy.

That's when the Torres family set off a bomb at some party (I forget what it was for, but it was at Wings). I've always found it interesting how it actually set up story for much of the next year or so.

Since the hospital was short staffed Chip was forced to operate on Julie who'd been severely injured. Unfortunately a waiter from the party died while Chip was preoccupied with Julie. The waiter of course was Dean Lombard and his death lead to the Lombards filing suit against the hospital. This of course would eventually lead to Roger running over Kimberly (triggering her DID storyline) and Stella trapping Marlena in the Pit. The lawyer representing the Lombards was Lisanne Gardner, who would eventually get murdered by Nicky.

This was also when Shane became paralyzed.

Yeah Neil sold Blondies to Nick who renamed it Wings.

I can't remember exactly how Julie became Nick's business partner - I think it may have been possibly something to do with Doug and Julie still owning the land Wings stood on and were thus Nick's landlords, so Julie was able to insert herself into the business upon her return to Salem, but I could be totally imagining that and be mistaken lol.

See, I've always thought that Shenanigans begat Blondie's, which begat Wings, which begat...well, I stopped keeping track after that...and that Doug's Place (or, the "By the Lake" version) was just gone at some point, like the Body Connection, or Suzanne Rogers' original cheekbones.

If I remember correctly, Shenanigans became Alice's Restaurant No. 1 around 1991 or so and was phased out soon after, I'm guessing because the Brady Pub became the new casual dining hangout set.

Tuscany became Alice's Restaraunt No. 2 (the country-western bar) sometime during Reilly 2.0. I remember Tuscany being phased in around 1999 or so (and was clearly established by the time of the John-Roman-Brady catfight), after years of The Penthouse Grille, which had succeeded Wings as the upscale dining hangout set.

    • Not mad at Leslie Locking Eva out, I think it's important for the audience to see her on her own for a while. Curious how scrappy and savvy on her own. Yeah, I am with you there. It feels a bit hollow; maybe if she was talking to Martin and Kat I would feel better about it. There must be more to this story. Daphnee and Ambry owned this episode. Tugging my heart in every scene. Nicole process hurt and anger much differently than Dani though.
    • I also really enjoyed Eva's scenes with Kat today. They have an interesting chemistry. I thought it really did feel a bit like sisters at conflict. Especially with the way that Eva was trying to convince Kat to forgive Ted and them both coming to the conclusion that the man they thought was their father was different wasn't who they really thought he was initially. And the way that Eva broke down when Kat said that she was dead to her was emotional stuff. I really do think that in spite of their conflict/bickering Eva really would have loved to have gained a sister, along with a brother, father, etc... Also, I thought it was interesting how Eva kept saying that she loves Ted and Nicole. That and Leslie mentioning that Kat/Eva are almost twins really does make me wonder if Kat may really be her twin and Nicole's as well. I would gladly welcome that outcome, even if it takes a while for it to come out. At this point Leslie doesn't deserve Eva as a daughter as far as I'm concerned. And I would forward to a storyline where we found out that she's Nicole's second baby girl, and all the complex and ultimately happy feelings that would bring Nicole. Eva/Kat could still have a rivalry, especially if Nicole ended up doing some more bonding with Eva. And then we could get the rest of the family's reaction to that as well.

What you NOT gonna do to me!
    • Bravo to every single person responsible for today's episode. From the writer on down to Kraft services. Yall I'm getting emotional but I wish my granny was here to have seen this soap since she was the one to introduce me to this medium.

    • Everything is fraught with confusion. Why is Leslie pleading with the Duprees to accept Eva? She's not biological family so what is this? She's the product of an affair with their in-law so Leslie wants them to accept her? I'm getting GOOD TIMES vibes of Leslie and Eva minus the physical abuse.
    • Big fan of today's writing. In particular, I like EJ complexity, crying over Johnny and conspiring at the same is tough to pull off in the same episode, but it goes very far in explaining EJ's motives. I don't hate the idea of Cat and EJ, and I especially appreciate everyone trying to warn her, but she is sticking to the plan. Boy oh boy, when Brandon Beemer wears a shirt that matches his eyes, I get lost in the screen!
    • Yeah, I think that Leslie's speech would have had a bit more of an impact if Ted had been the Dupree's son, with Nicole being the daughter in law they loved like a daughter. But being that he's the son in law, and that Eva (at least not right now) isn't technically a Dupree, it doesn't hold as much weight. They aren't caring much for Ted right now and their feelings could be trickling down to Eva. Though, I do think they have some sympathy for her. I really enjoyed today's show. Loved a stripped, down hurt but still strong in her resolve Nicole. DD continues to shine and shows why she is IMO the heart of the show. I felt her words, and anger at Ted and how she broke down in Kat's arms at the end. She is just wonderful all the way around. I also loved the way that Anita read Leslie. She was spot on about her and how mishandled everything with Ted and Eva. And speaking of Leslie... I immediately thought the same thing once I saw that scene. That what she exhibited was trash behavior. I don't think she's a good mother. In fact, I think she's lousy. Granted, I have missed some episodes, but I haven't really seen her do anything to indicate that she really cares for Eva or her well being. All she's really done is try and manipulate/use Eva for her own agenda since she came to town.
    • I thought Brandon C was much more believable as Martin today.  Before, I watched an actor trying to portray a character.  Friday and today, I simply felt the character.
