I know Barbara wants a man....on the show. I don't know if it would happen but i wouldn't mind it. I hope it's not Mario Cantone. I like him but it spurtz. I could not see him being on every day. That voice! Although i woudn't mind a gay man like Thomas Roberts

For a straight man my choice is always Rob Lowe. I wouldn't be suprised if it was Cameron Mattherson, he seems to be poping up everywhere and he's a total "A-kisser."

I don't think any of the old people should come back. They've had their chance. Let someone else give it a shot. I know Barbara hinted that she did ask Monica Lewinski. She was on David Lettermen's show and was very vauge about it. That would be interesting.

The problem with the view is that what made it interesting - 5 different women with different backgrounds and different views - are gona. They need a respected news anchor, a conservative, a liberal, someone in the middle, etc. there shouldn't be so many comedians. They need someone young and new as well.

I liked the original lineup which featured fairly unknown women. I know some of them had some local visibility but they weren't celebs. I hate that as the show progressed, they only looked at "names" to fill the spot. Its all about stars and celebs. Rosie O'Donnell? Whoopi Goldberg? Jenny McCarthy? IMO, should have never joined the panel (even if Rosie gave us some good clashes with Elizabeth, that helped continue the ugly turn the show was going in after Starr's final season) I don't think they can do a revamp with complete unknowns but they should have been hiring them as they started phasing some of the other women out.

I do kind of agree that both Jenny and Sherri are too alike. they both think they are young and trendy. They both had slightly disabled children. I assume they are both democrat although i know Sherri changes her mind on a dailey basis because politics is a little too over her head (She'd rather talk about Dancing with the stars of real housewives of whatever all day.) Although i'd take Sherri any day over that loud mouth Sheryl Underwood from The Talk.

It would be nice to find two unknowns who are very different to join the show. Like someone said, it was originally a show about four women with different backgrounds idea's and views. Merridith the working mother, Star the attorney, Debbie the young one and Joy the comedian. and then Barbara the veteran.

I hope it does but if someone good doesn't come on next season, I can see the raitings tank! Barbara was the only reason the show lasted so long. She may have her haters (especially on this board) but she was good for the show and she's the only reason it survived 17 seasons. Lord knows it wasn't because of Star, Rosie or Whoopie(Although i do like Whoopie and her old movies).

    • I know at one point they were on Hulu & i-Tunes. I just checked it on JustWatch.com & it indicates 1 season on Prime Video & on AppleTV. Have fun!
    • That era is so weird...they made a big deal out of all three of those characters and then they just..disappeared! Not that I am complaining. We talk about the bad out of character writing for Alex under JFP..but this was one example that may have led them to write her being so obsessive with Nick.  WHY would Alex accept Flock of Seagulls guy as her brother? They had her in one scene (setting up the Alan return) complain that Alan abandoned her...she blackmailed him into leaving town and she had been angry at him for helping Brandon with Lujack and also using Spaulding for that dumb dreaming death thing. Endless scenes of her with Simon, I can't believe Bev wasn't bored to death! I would also add Pam writing the scene where she lets Ms. Sally die in front of her to protect Alan and  the writing for Alex could be screwy even before JFP.
    • On this day 34 years ago the final episode of Dallas and came in at an astonishing #2 in the ratings after two straight seasons of weak ratings. Interesting Knots was #27 for that week as well:

    • Thank you for clearing that up. I wasn't watching GL regularly yet at that point, but seems to me I should have remembered the big wedding after Leslie's death (which I do remember) described in the profile. Is there a web archive of SOD summaries, or are referring to your own personal collection?
    • I was bummed that 2.0 ended because Mcpherson (headwriter) had really set up some interesting stories and we never got to find out where the stories would go once they resumed production on 'season 2'. I remembered the EP (Ginger Smith) and a lot of the stars gave a lot of credit to McPherson being able to come in on very short notice and come up with stories/plots (I think it was a very short turnaround time of a few weeks).  It was nice that she got to redeem herself after her year long Days stint was not well reviewed/liked.

    • It seems like a setup for failure to review a single episode of a soap, but Cleveland Amory was a foolish man.  His taste was so predictable, that one wondered why bother reviewing a medium he so clearly disliked. (found on Facebook retro TV group) Another case in point of his misogyny from his review of Dark Shadows (Can you imagine the magazine with the widest circulation in the country insulting its customer in this way today?)

    • They could easily be re-created, or even re-shot in different ways, especially if they were re-shooting scenes at some point, as well.
    • The Ted recast really is a shame because now they won't be able to do flashbacks to the best scenes the show has done to date.
    • That would be an AMAZING twist.
