OLTL Casts New Joey Buchanan

After recognizable soap faces like Austin Peck (ex-Brad, ATWT et al) and Brody Hutzler (ex-Patrick, DAYS) were considered for the role, OLTL has cast daytime newcomer Josh Kelly as the next Joey Buchanan, slated to begin airing on Nov. 24. The role was last played by CASTLE's Nathan Fillion, when Joey popped into town for Asa's funeral in 2007. This is the first soap for Kelly, who's had numerous prime-time guest spots, including parts on UGLY BETTY, TRUE BLOOD and NCIS: LOS ANGELES.

Mmmmm, having watched the Joey/Dorian stuff as a 9th grader, it's just weird that Joey is now a few years younger than me. I didn't care for the deSORASing to Jeffcoat and the deSORASing AND miscasting of BMH. But hey, if Viki has her boy back, he can act, and they don't totally destroy the character along the way, I'm in too.

Seriously. But AP is totally predictable vapid Kevin recast material.

I think they will destroy the character, especially if it is to prop Rex or Kelly or Todd, but we can hope.

He looks older than his age, so it might fit. OLTL also seems to have a way of making actors look older than they really are...

Well, let's also not forget that in 2003, Joey and Rex were treated as contemporaries fighting over Jen - leading to the homoerotic locker room battles.

It's Joey, the actor is attractive and appears to have an ounce of talent. I choose to be happy about it until they do something dumb with him.

JPL has aged so badly recently he might catch up to NF soon.

I hope they don't even put Joey and Rex in a story together. Every character in a story with Rex pays the price.

Sarah Roberts flopped twice -- CJ would be the same. He has no one on the show aside from a few relatives who would barely notice he exists.

    • I'm not sure how I felt about it, but I do kind of like that it felt like the show telling us this concludes the first chapter of the series. Could be interesting if they only do it for big aftermath episodes. The biggest mistake with Martin is that it's almost hard to buy his anger because we've gotten no strong scenes with him and his parents. They've all been with Anita/Vernon. I can't even remember him ever even saying one word to Nicole, even in passing.
    •   Thank you! Agreed on both posts. And the comments about Mike Manning are nonsense.
    • I haven't watched yet, but did they explain the current ownership of The Bistro?  Because when RonC was writing, wasn't he applying for work with Sophia?
    • I think Brandon has gotten better in normal day to day scenes, but he’s very over the top when the character is meant to be angry or agitated. I did laugh when she started yelling at Leslie and then when he started to throw all those damn books, lol. He needs an acting coach to work out some of these kinks.
    • I've never found him as bad as some. I think he's always shined in scenes with Vernon, who should be his father. I also think he has great chemistry with Kat and Dani which I hope they tap into more over time. Dani/Martin feel like such a fun and believable Auntie/Nephew relationship.
    • I'm fighting for my life on another board for my husband Brandon and I'll do it here too lmao
    • I don't expect Lois to be the same person she was 25 years ago, but she's definitely lost a lot of what made Lois unique.  It's clear the show doesn't know how to write for her, and the sole purpose of Lois is to hide this Gio secret.  It's a shame she doesn't interact with more of the canvas.  It's a waste of Rena's talents. I like Brook Kerr most of the time.  She can be hit or miss.  I totally get what you are saying about her line readings too.  I honestly think the character really suffers being stuck in the Curtis pairing.  She's much better than Tanisha Harper's Jordan lol.
    • Friday and yesterday's episode is what daytime television should be. The other shows airing could take a page from yesterday's show.  I loved the rage, hurt and anger Nicole unleashed on Ted.  Daphnee should be up for an Emmy nom for these scenes.  It broke my heart to see how Dana had locked Eva out.  I do feel sorry for Eva.    I am still bumfuzzled as to why Leslie/Dana went to the DuPree's and asked them to accept Kat UNLESS Eva is really Kat's twin (and really Nicole and Ted's daughter that maybe they though they lost or an embryo Dana/Leslie stole??) I loved how Anita and Vernon both shot her down.    Ohhh and let me just say Friday and yesterday was the MOST fire I have seen Martin have since the show started.  Maybe Brandon Clayborn is coming into his own with the role finally.
