*applause*

This isn't 1973. Why would someone who's watched ATWT for the last thirty years suddenly become interested in a show that they've presumably never watched before, considering it's been on either partially or directly opposite OLTL for all of those thirty years? It doesn't make any sense, and I wish they stop clinging to that.

Of course he can't. Unless they have a yo-yo that stretches from here to Yuma. Then it's all "my secret lover," "future Mr. Branco," etc.

Wow @"Vivienne". Is that even her character's first name?

So true about soap switching. My grandparents aren't so hungry for soaps that they'll seek out a new one once AMC hits the skids, and I think older at home fans in particular have an easier time rolling with the new programming punches if those particular hours of the day are for vegging out and sneaking a cat nap or two anyway. My mom NEVER would have switched networks, she would have just upped her weekend Lifetime Movie Channel quotient to fill in the sudsy gaps.

Word. In fact, now that AS THE WORLD TURNS is about to go, DAYS has ruined all its' momentum from the baby-switch, and AMC, OLTL and Y&R are tanking big time, I just don't have it in me to watch television, let alone daytime television. As soon as Larry Bryggman's return (on ATWT) is done, I'll probably be done, too.

Because, don't you know, we all look alike? ;-)

For me, the problem is that there is simply nothing even remotely interesting on during the daytime (or even primetime). Ironic, isn't it? These networks have ruined soaps because they're so worried about the plethora of entertainment alternatives out there to lure away viewers; yet, if they actually watched these shows that have them so scared, they'd know right away that they had absolutely nothing to worry about.

That's how my people are, pretty much. When GL ended, my aunt filled that spot with reruns of Little House. Episodes she's watched over and over again for over 35 years, but she still watches it (then again, she treats that like a soap too -- "Oh, I wonder what Laura 'n 'em doin today..."). It's either that or the daily Gunsmoke/Bonanza barrage on TV Land.

    • As well as insulting our host, being rude to members who correct you, and having an inflated sense of duty.
    • Yes, that is why. I mean, not last minute but it was not what Shapiro originally wanted. First, she tried to buy the show. Then she tried to buy the character. Meanwhile several other companies also tried to buy the show.
    • I thought I had stopped & then I saw this post from you. To be clear I said I was wrong. I have not made an attempt at any backpedaling. There is literally no place to back pedal to. I did 3 things. I deleted. i apologized. I said I was wrong, egregiously so.
    • I think bringing Dano back to OLTL as her original character Gretel/Rae was a last minute thing because P & G wouldn't let ABC use the Felicia character. So even though she had ties to OLTL from back in the day, she just didn't fit into the OLTL of the late 90s/early 00s.. nor did she really fit into the other soaps at ABC either.
    • I don't think they were the biggest factor, but I do think there's a specific style to Dano's work that wasn't helped by how pointless her character often felt (and later on the various writers clearly saw the character as a joke).
    • I think Evie came in mid 1976 after Rita broke up with Tim because she realized she was leading him on.  And Evie became upset with Rita because she didn't tell her that she had previously dated Tim before she came to town.
    • Please stop, you were wrong, and you know it, now you're trying to back pedal. You even got called out by the DAYS actors/actresses on Twitter for that sh*t. It was disgusting and vile and IMO the family should have taken action against you It was clear the general public did not know about his illness and it was NOT your place to "spill the beans" just because you run a Facebook group, period! TBH IMO @Errol should have banned you ages ago Donna
    • Who went bowling? JFP & Anna? Is there any more to this?
    • Another character driven show with interconnecting plots that make sense. I like that we go from one character, like Sarah, learning that EJ wants to buy the hospital, casually mentioning it to Xander who now has that intel. The only down today was not seeing Steve and Shawn breaking into the lab. I wonder if Dr Poofy Hair will inform EJ about Xander's call. I loved Abe talking to Chanel about losing Isaac and giving her comfort. And helping her voice her fears about Johnny. Kayla standing up to EJ is great. Kayla, freed from Ron, has been great. I am loving all her air time. And Sarah telling her that EJ must be up to something if he wants the hospital is very smart. She would probably clue in to the sepsis research being the big thing if she wasn't choking to death. I assume Felicity messed up the scones and dropped in cleaning fluid or something. Sarah said it tasted weird. They are never getting that honeymoon, are they? Xander has no clue what job Johnny can do. Johnny knows this too. Xander wants to legitimize his takeover by hiring a Dimera. Johnny wants to stick it to EJ. The honesty is refreshing. I want to like Cat and Chad but they are just so awkward. And none of their scenes work for me. Marlena and EJ was very good. I like her wanting to help him but also scared to death for Belle. Makes perfect sense that she is conflicted. I also liked her softly asking Johnny if he needed her to stay once EJ walked in. Ron never cared about this relationship either, but now she is acting like his granny.
    • Sorry, catching up, and the bolded part, yes! Should have been sued by DH's family for that nasty sh*t too   Anywho, back to the show, Kristina is freaking nuts, she needs to be committed ASAP
