So I am hearing that Reid dies at the end and Luke devasted turns to Noah. Is there any truth to the spoilers about Reid dying?? So this means Luke chooses Reid but goes back to Noah because Reid dies.

I don't even watch the show, but that's bullshit if they screw with fanbases like that. The Nukers won't be happy because Noah was chosen by default, the "Lure" fans won't be happy because Reid dies and doesn't get the happy ending with Luke. Either way you slice this, it's garbage.

They should have brought Larry Lau back and given me my Lube ending.

That's why they did it! ESS was becoming very popular with fans. They didnt want to anger either side so they leave it like that. Reid dies....Luke is heartbroken...Noah comes in...consoles him...and viewers see that Nuke might get a second chance...fade to black on that story...watch it happen!!

This rumor is all over the soap boards. If this is true, what a cop out. As a Reid fan, I didn't need him with Luke at the end. I wanted Reid to be living his life, while Luke rode off into the sunset with Noah. But to kill Reid off... is just mean. I only started watching ATWT again because of Reid played by the talented ESS. I'll never learn.

Personally, I would rather go through a summer of suffering with Nuke, get it all out of their system, and finally have Reid/Luke reunite at the very end than Reid just...dying. That would be the worst ending ever, not to mention a huge copout. You really can't please everybody--fanbases are everywhere on both sides. So they need to simply pick a money couple and stick with it.

Wow.

An ex-lover of Reid's tracks him down to Oakdale. He wants to make amends. They've both made mistakes, they've both said things they shouldn't have, but most of all, they both want to make it work. Reid tells Luke that he was only using him to get over the ex. Luke understands because it's exactly what he was doing with Noah. Luke convinces Reid to swallow his pride, be a man, and go after his ex. Reid and the ex vow to make it work this time and get a penthouse at the Lakeview.

Noah tells Luke that he needs time to himself and really doesn't need to be in a relationship right now. Luke is hurt, but he lets Noah do what he needs to do. Noah leaves Oakdale to live with distant relatives. Luke is left alone, but in a way, he's okay with that. In the last episode, he meets a guy, and the audience is given an enormous hint that, in the future, they'll be together.

And that's it.

But isn't that what they have done? Clearly, JP and Goutman are devoted to Noah who is their creation so they didn't kill him off and made sure that he could have a future with Luke (if this rumor is true).

Very true. It was clear by the script writers who tweet that Nuke was the it couple. Reid is a DK creation. JP and Goutman have only cared about their own favorites which dont include Reid. That's why this show was cancelled. JP and Goutman only wrote for their pets and not for the ATWT fans.

I honestly think they're on the fence about it and trying to please both sides, hence all this flip-flopping with Reid and Noah every week. That may not be true, thats only what it *feels* like. If they have indeed decided Noah and Luke are *it*, well...I guess I'll have to deal but that shouldn't come at Reid's expense. Actually, nobody should have to die! The show is already ending, that would just be twisting the knife :(

Well this is bull crap because they dont have the guts to let Luke choose. This is a copout because the TPTB have not spine by doing something different by choosing Lure but putting Nuke back by default. Well I have my memories or I would if they would be on my screen longer than one day.

This sounds a bit like the non-ending with Reva choosing Josh because she assumed Jeffrey was dead.

As someone who never cared about Luke/Reid and just wanted to see Reid on his own I think this is pathetic.

    • And not since. I recall it was quite small for a house that size. And I don't know why you would walk down a narrow corridor to get to the main living area. I hate when the sets on soaps don't have a logical layout! As for Andre his clothing is fashion forward and suitable for his character. He ain't gonna wear no blazer!
    • The last I remember seeing Ben, he was divorcing Amanda. He came to tell Evie that he still loved her, but was leaving town so that Amanda wouldn't blame Evie for his divorcing her. I'm not exactly sure when, but Evie doesn't leave town until sometime after Nola and Quint's engagement ball. I'm not sure if she leaves before or after Justin leaves in Sept(?) of '83. I grew to like Helena when she became friends with Vanessa, once she's edging her way out of Quint's life.

    • It sure was!  With respect, how does that make sense?  These men are young, I don't see that.
    • I hope this played better than it sounds, because I'm imagining two separate scenes (the attack by Arnie, and later Charles getting shot). In my mind, it should have been a fluid single sequence. I wonder if or how often "bastard" was uttered in this scene. Fare thee well, Christopher Reeve. I've said it before, but pop culture's gain was daytime's definite loss. Imagine seeing HIM day after day, year after year, decade after decade, conceivably until they stopped producing soaps in NYC.   Well, that answers my "bastard" question. Good lord, the roads of Rosehill are packed with high-strung drivers and/or pedestrians. More sequences that I hope played better than they sound.

    • I think Ben had already left while under Marland and only returned briefly to reconcile with Eve. The whole thing confuses me as I thought for a long time that Eve left the show to go be with him and that was when they reconciled, but it seems like he returned, they got back together, then he left and maybe they were still together until she left to join him? I have no idea.  It does seem like the interim writers were using some characters like Justin and Helena who were quickly dumped under Kobe/Long, which is a shame. Helena is one of those characters who likely always had a shelf life but Rose Alaio was such a vibrant screen presence, if Kobe/Long had just been patient, she likely would have fit in well in the Reva era.
    • Also, the lawsuit story was not the right story to bring Naomi and Bill into a court battle since those types of lawsuits are usually resolved via settlements.
    • I know that Sara did eventually become Carrie's therapist, but I was curious if the show had her make comments regarding Carrie's stunts of making it seem as though Justin was cheating on Jackie.  Given that Justin cheated on Sara with both Jackie and Brandy, I wondered if it was wise of her to counsel Carrie given the conflict of interest involved. @DRW50I think once Adam/Sara end up married.. Marland didn't see any reason to explore Sara's personal life after the actor playing Adam was released.  I know that Sara lasts until at least Christmas 1982 on the show.. but I don't think she ended up staying on for very long into 1983. The period between Marland quitting and Pam Long starting was the perfect time to clean house on characters that had outgrown their usefulness  (i.e. Ben, Evie, Sara, Jennifer, Morgan).. and tying up stories started by Marland that were too complex (Mona Enright, Mark/Jennifer/Amanda triangle).
    • Unpopular opinion:  The focus on the soap opera tropes over the mysteries and crimes was partly what did the show in.  Also, featuring characters not involved in the legal, police, and criminal elements also hurt the show and took away what made it unique. Featuring characters like Jody, Raven, Sky, etc hurt the show long term.  The show ABCified starting in 1976/1977 and then went through a youthification period starting in 1981.
