On GL, Frank Grillo tested for Zachary before landing the part of Hart Jessup.

Shari Shattuck was in talks for Ashley on Y&R when Eileen Davidson left but decided she didn't want to commit to a  contract role so never screen tested. When Brenda Epperson left the role her circumstances had changed and she tested and landed the role of Ashley,.

Andrea Moar (Carrie Sanders AMC) tested for the role of Kim on RH a full year before landing AMC

ABC liked her so much they put her on option which meant  a salary while they looked for roles for her.

Jennifer Aniston was on Jimmy Kimmel this month and told the story of how she found her first audition tape on Betamax.  She was 13 years old and she auditioned for the part of TR, a 13 year old runaway on Search For Tomorrow, which her father starred on at the time.  She said he would not have approved of her being on the show and that she lost the role to Jane Krakowski.

That would have been fascinating to watch, especially considering John Aniston’s character was a father figure to TR.

Hilary B Smith on the New SOD Podcast, revealed that in 1987, Bryan Cranston auditioned to become Tom Hughes on ATWT. They were already to sign him but then Scott Holmes walked in & won over the show and was cast as Tom instead.

Damn.  We could've had Bryan Cranston instead of bland Scott Holmes.

Imagine a world in which Scott Holmes played Walter White. I don't want to!
