When David Lewis exited the role of Edward Quartermaine on GH, TPTB were looking to cast either Cesar Romero or Eddie Albert before going with the virtually unknown John Ingle.

Well that wouldnt have lasted long anyway :(

Yeah even when they did manage to cast Eddie Albert in a role, it didn't last long at all.

Wasn't Eddie Albert sick by then, though? Or perhaps his Alzheimer's was diagnosed later?

  • Member

I think that was the late 90s.

Eddie Albert was on GH in 1993. I don't know when he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, but he was 87 at the time!!!

When Kelsey Grammer was on Letterman about a month ago, He told a story of one of his first auditions when he was 23 for OLTL. Actually his girlfriend at the time was there to audition and he was just accompanying her, but the casting director liked his look and asked him to audition as well. He had to read a scene with of all people, Dana Delaney (also unknown at that point in time). There was a kissing scene and Dana said to him "when it's time to do that part, let's just go all out" and Grammer explained on Letterman that he didn't know exactly what that would entail since he had never done that yet for his career. Basically, it meant that when it came time for the kiss, Delaney shoved her tongue down his throat and he just froze. He didn't get the part because he blew it, but she did get the part.

Is it possible Grammer is confusing "One Life to Live" with "Love of Life"?

Probably. LOL is pretty much forgotten.

In 1995, Robert Fontaine (ex-Rafe, SB) was asked to test for AMC's Mateo, but declined, as he was busy with his production company.

In 1985, Tony Curtis was supposedly asked to appear on Dynasty.

I could see Tony as slimey Joel Abrigore.
