Rosenthal is a mock film critic for The Onion. He's done "reviews" for a decade or so - the only thing left from when they had much more video content.

I go in and out. I watched more of the early seasons.

Makes sense. The OG seasons and cast members are my favorites too. I still watch, but nothing ever beats the good ol' days.

I can definitely see why the other women don't feel secure around Katie. She is actively digging for dirt about them and transactioning that info to RH bloggers. Kind of like what Whitney Rose does on SLC.

Nevertheless, I was struck by what she said about why she did those things: "Last year, it was eat or become eaten." This is what a lot of these shows have become, not least RHOC where Tamra, Heather, Emily, Gina trade damning info they have on others and use it against them. Katie was a sitting duck at the dinner, and Gina in particular the water-carrier doing Tamra's bidding. Katie is dumb to have targeted one of her few allies (Shannon) with the recording, because now she's islanded without any allies.

I cannot believe I'm going to say this, because i found her a bimbo back in the day, but it was good to see Gretchen hold Tamra to account right from the get. She pretty clearly articulated Tamra's underhand methods to her face and may turn out to be a better FOH return than Alexis. As long as she doesn't flub it.

Shannon's in her happy place, playing the dramatic, self-aggrandizing victim. I wasn't sure about the first episode of this new season, but the second episode found its groove, and im really looking forward to the season. This show has a way of bringing it while maintaining its original, unique identity.

Reminder that Kelly Dodd is still in fact trash. She's making fun of Denise Richard's DV

Not even in OC's borefest era was there a day when I thought "We need Kelly Dodd back." This is why.

RHOM

I can't believe that I haven't watched this past week's episode yet. Darn crazy July!!! lol. However, I did watch Episode 3, and I thought it was another good one.

It was one of the reasons I love this show. Outside of the theme of a hurricane coming...and not showing, it was just a lot of little subplots and the start of one of the many trips that goes on on this show. Though I again giggle as I write at Alexia wanting to be having a narcissist party given that it's ALEXIA. JS.

I did like that the fallout from Julia vs Guerdy is far from over, but at least Guerdy had some scenes with other cast members finally to get a feeling for what they thought. And while it was good to see the ladies have a brunch, it was sad to see how left it went. And quickly. Also sadly...it felt to me that Julia was trying to find any reason to have an issue with Guerdy.

ALEXIA. Love the guy she put in charge of her narcissist party. Outside of that, I really was getting housewife delusion from her, and it was hilarious to watch. And once she mentioned following her heart when it came to Todd, I was calling her Brooke Logan in my head. smh. Sorry, not sorry.

LARSA. Nothing really relevant that stood out to me this episode.

GUERDY. Bigger woman than me. At this point, I'm not sure if I can sit down with anyone who threw a drink on me. She was probably doing it for the best of the group. I loved that she was expressing herself. I'm just sad that it looked like everything she was saying was falling on deaf ears, though I liked her and Julia sat next to each other in the van. So perhaps I will be wrong. I also liked that she did confront Alexia about what Julia said she was saying.

JULIA. When I look at her, I think of that gif that says YOU FAKE AND PHONEY. I'm sorry, but that's just how she is. I was just thankful the episode did not start with her, so I didn't roll my eyes.

LISA. No matter what drama she has going on, I have loved so far that Lisa be giving looks. As for her being late...well, what housewives show in its weight in gold don't have a late person? If anything I was annoyed at her, for getting herself in even more hot water by not letting Stephanie express herself which sounded like would have included an apology for coming at her from GO rather than being calmer in expressing her feelings. After that, Stephanie was in her right to get her together. Sorry, Lis.

STEPHANIE. I find myself warming up to her slowly. The thing with her parents on her honeymoon made me side-eye. So did the thing with the dogs in the hotel room. It was giving early RHOA Drew. Which can be a good thing or a bad thing. I didn't like her immediately coming for Lisa, either. I did like she tried to back it up and explain herself better, but alas. Last, but not least, her intro card is breathtaking. I love that dress and the little toss of the back she gives.

Looking forward to watching the next episode between now and Wednesday. I'm just surprised and shocked that we are already a third of the way through the season. It's going fast.

Lord, those two are bound and determined to make OC toxic again, aren't they?

Nope. They're going to overplay their hand and get the show rebooted with Tamra, Gretchen, Shannon, and Jenn being the only survivors. Rumors are already swirling that Heather is leaving after this season, which I believe b/c of her house purchase in BH (I never knew why they didn't move Heather over there to bring opulence to the show especially, when she's good friends with Garcelle). Katie is obviously going unless she pulls a "Hail Mary" at the reunion. I say get rid of Emily and Gina, too. They have never brought much to this show. And dare I say it, but Shannon needs to be put on ice, too.

OC

Since I have a really bad case of 'writer mind need to shut off'...I figured that I would talk about OC. While I am still behind sadly, I managed to successfully finish Season 17.

I definitely liked the season. Tamra's return season was a return to form. It wasn't boring at all. And it kept right on moving.

If I disliked anything, it was the fact that these ladies never learn. They always try to take Heather down and she always outmaneuvers them. And I'm definitely over one of them having an issue, they all have it out, they forgive each other, but then the issues come back up AGAIN. So...not forgiven.

I also love the introduction of NewJenn. Hehe. As I started off calling her. But I grew to like Jen through the season. And her love for children really and truly resonated with me. And then NewRyan...even if he is slimy...don't hate me...I would tap it, too. lol. I wish I could say he wasn't typical of SoCal...he really is...which is probably why I would tap it. And a gym nut, too. Mmmm. And then the drama with how the two of them came together...and Tamra fanning the flame...was intriguing all the way through.

So many moments I felt. Tamra stirring the pot for Jen. Emily/Gina trying to be relevant, too, with some stirring. Emily vs Heather. Shannon being...Shannon. The return of Taylor...even if she flopped. The return of Vicki...again. And that finale party was one for the books. I love the costumes...I love the theme since one of my favorite Britney Spears's cd is CIRCUS. And Tamra vs Heather...something I don't mind being down for.

Haven't done the reunion yet. So going into it...

SHANNON. I admit that it was so weird watching her this season with John knowing what is coming next season. She really had a light season though...outside of everyone trying to get her to spiral. Shannon vs Tamra to find Shannon was not a pushover was a great moment this season. Shannon vs Heather...as if that was going to work lmao. Shannon overreacting to trying to get to the table on the trip will always get a giggle out of me. And of course her with the Dos Amigas again with Viki and Tamra was a hoot. She really came out of this season good.

HEATHER. Why, why, why do they try with her? lol. Heather eventually gets these ladies together all the time. And then that first gang-up over her moving out of her house was not even petty housewife good...it was silly. But I admit that everyone trying to come for Heather or throw her under the bus for something did keep her active. Otherwise she wouldn't had had a storyline outside of being rich and looking good this season.

EMILY. As Kyle Richards would say...tits on an ant!! Cuz what was the reason for her constantly starting an issue with Heather and then bringing it up over and over and over again. Even after Heather handled her, there she would go again. GIRL, STFU. Seriously. I was over her. And her even attempting with the 'Queen' was laughable to me...as she found out quickly herself when she tried to come for Tamra. Not even on your best day, Lawyer Girl. Tamra wrote the bible on how to stir the pot on this show. Just a pretender to the throne.

GINA. Over her, too. After all the clout chasing she did by throwing Shannon under the bus for Heather, she then turned around and tried to do it to Heather. Girl ain't rich enough. Or relevant really. GIRL, BYE.

TAMRA. A return to form. I was glad when she left because she had poisoned the show, but she proved you can come home again. And she moved like gangbusters to give us a show. From her feuding with Shannon, letting Emily/Gina know what time it is, to her keeping things interesting among the group to her finally zeroing in on her 'friend' Jenn, Tamra showed why she was a big part of this show. She was insufferable by the finale mind you, but I am glad...for now...that she's back.

JENN.  Was it Jenn that started the current trend of great and interesting new housewives for the other franchise? It's been so long I can't remember. I love that she's transparent whether it's good information, juicy tea, or news that puts her in a bad light. I felt she kept it real. I definitely cried more during her real life segment than I have in a minute. And for a person's first time around a camera, she really learned nicely on the fly. Now the drama with her and NuRyan...I found it to be the gift that kept on giving...thanks to Jenn's willingness to show it all and Tamra's ability to stir. She could have stood up for herself more firmly, but she was giving me first season Garcelle who sat back and tried to get a feel for the lay of the land and I didn't hate her for it.

Bring on the reunion. And Season 18 at some point...lol.

Gina and Emily are in danger, Emily slightly less so because at least she has some engaging family story other than "Travis moved back into da casita." They are also doing too much going after Katie, and then (I imagine) Jen and Gretchen may be targets next. Why they decided that becoming Tamra's henchmen/proxies was a safe job choice is beyond me.

BH badly needs Heather Dubrow. I would love it if she was hired. Bummed to know that she was pals with Garcelle, and now Garcelle has been ruthlessly iced out of the show.

None of the BH women would stand a chance against any of the OC women, but Heather's cunning, sharp tongue and ability to dig up dirt are lethal. She's got class/education pedigree that the entire BH cast should fear, and I don't think Erika would want to go up against her without Mikey furiously scripting her responses.

I can see that. I'm very curious to see how it turns out when I get to the current season, but I can always love and leave Emily and Gina. Emily has her uses, but Gina has not really been relevant since she got her temporary glow-up.

I feel like whatever is happening with Katie is going to backfire on the whole cast from what little I've seen online.

I would say that it's the safe route for those two. Tamra coming back and putting them on notice scared them straight real quick since that duo were the main pot stirring on this show when Tamra was gone.

I thought the same thing as I was watching. It reminded me of what Rinna has said about Housewives being a game of Survivor. BH and certainly NJ have shown that to be true. I can understand Katie wanting ammunition on everyone on the cast in case she needs to use it in the future. She has just used her weaponry very poorly. Also, if she had kept that video of Shannon to herself instead of sharing it, she wouldn't be in this new mess and if need be, could have held onto it for another day when the inevitable day came that Shannon turned on her for something completely different.

We see newbies fumble the ball all the time now in this new dog-eat-dog Housewives world. Just like Braunwyn (I can't remember which spelling is correct) on RHOSLC. I'm now willing to give the first seasoners a break because they're learning how to navigate.

That said, yeah, Katie sucks at this game.

Gretchen and her new face is welcome if she gets Tamra riled up and bothered. I'm here for it.
