With that Pepto Bismal meets Target lighting design?

LOL. HD might at least sharpen the fuzzy image. Same for B&B and OLTL.

Great news! Something the genre needs to hear. Shows being renewed! DAYS has been on a ratings tear as of late and has consistantly top in the top 3 in the majpr categories (Total Viewers, HH, Demos 19-49)

It's probably the only show on-air that deserves to be renewed, really.

Great news. I was hoping for a 2 year deal but with the state of daytime today any kind of renewal is a good sign. This means there will definitely be a 45th Anniversary celebration.

Kudos to Days. I do think that its success is partly due to Ali Sweeney hosting Biggest Loser, but I think that Days deserves another year.

I agree 100%.

Days does deserve it, and IMHO the earned it by finally freeing themselves of the past and moving on. Ratings proved that they did something right. But i do think Sweeney deserves special credit here too. Be it that NBC loves her or the fact that she has carried that show, she def helped. But the people behind and in front of the camera really have busted their ass' to pull it together and it paid off.

The fact that its only a one year pick up doesn't spell doom and gloom either. It is going to be the norm now, and i dont see an issue with that. It sholuld be.

Oh, and it isnt shocking at all. I mean, compared to a year ago? yes. But now? no.

It would have been an interesting strategy, but DAYS would have suffered if it were moved out of it's comfortable noon slot.

its on from 1-2pm in most markets. Even says so in the press release.

Here's the NBC press release.

Hit Series Will Celebrate Its 45th Anniversary in November

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - March 19, 2010 - NBC has picked up hit daytime drama "Days of our Lives" for its 45th season, keeping the long-running show on the network through the 2010-11 television season, it was announced today by Marc Graboff, Chairman, NBC Entertainment and Universal Media Studios.

"'Days of our Lives' continues to be a favorite of the daytime audience and we are thrilled to keep it going through its 45th season," said Graboff. "'Days' has shown year-to-year increases in key female demographics and remains both relevant and fresh creatively."

Bruce Evans, Senior Vice President, Drama Programming, NBC Entertainment, added, "The producers, cast and crew have worked tirelessly to make 'Days' the ratings success it is today. Today's renewal is a true testament to all of their hard work. We could not be more delighted for them and for the multiple generations of fiercely loyal 'Days of our Lives' fans."

The acclaimed daytime drama will celebrate its 45th anniversary on Monday, November 8.

"Days of our Lives" (Monday-Friday, 1-2 p.m. in most markets; check local listings) first premiered as a half-hour drama in 1965 and expanded to an hour 10 years later. Today, it remains a consistent favorite among viewers of daytime television serials and is currently tied for #2 for the season among all daytime dramas in women 18-49 and women 18-34. Through 25 weeks of the 2009-10 season, "Days" is averaging 3.3 million viewers, its highest average at this point in the season in three years and a 10 percent increase over its audience of one year ago, according to Nielsen Media Research. "Days" is also delivering year-to-year gains among women 18-49 and women 25-54.

In its 44-plus years, "Days of our Lives" has garnered numerous Emmy Awards and nominations, as well as multiple Soap Opera Digest and People's Choice Awards. "Days of our Lives" is set in the fictitious Midwestern town of Salem. The core families are the Bradys, the Hortons and the DiMeras, and the multi-layered storylines involve elements of romance, adventure, mystery, comedy and drama.

"Days of our Lives" is produced by Corday Productions Inc., in association with Sony Pictures Television. Executive producer Ken Corday is following in the tradition of his parents, Betty and Ted Corday, who co-created "Days of our Lives" and helmed the series for many years. Gary Tomlin is also executive producer. Dena Higley is the head writer and Christopher Whitesell is co-head writer.

Best. Quote. Ever.

Why is that show so damn hot pink? I didn't like Gary's lighting on OLTL either.

I have never "gotten" Days, but this show deserves this renewal. Its the only soap on daytime that has shown significant life in it. Great news.

DAYS looks like [!@#$%^&*], in terms of sets, wardrobe, and lighting. The background music sucks too.

But hey, it's keeping the budget down, which I guess is all that matters these days.

Ill take it any day with good stories over nice looking soaps with crappy stories. but its so damn pink.

Awright DAYS! Have to agree about the crappy music though, and the butchering of the theme song. But mmmYEAH!

The shorter theme song is SO much better.

Great news!

This is the pickup for last year (2010-2011) of the contract? So I guess if DAYS keeps up with the good ratings, CBS could make a play for it next year then.

Unless NBC drops it and its still JUST behind yr/bb it will never happen.
