I'm not surprised AMC dropped. The SL's and dialogue have gotten better, but David, Greenlee and Ryan are eating the show. Plus wasn't this the week the reveal of Adam's long lost plot device child?

AMC lost the 2nd most viewers for the week, right behind the lowest rated soap: ATWT.

ALL Soaps but AMC stayed the same, while AMC dropped in HH & the coveted demo

Not much separating AMC & GH either

AMC still is up 115,000 viewers from last year at this time, the most of any soap except for Days. It is going to take time for this show to recover from how awful it has been the last five years. I'm actually enjoying it more than I have in a decade.

Yes, that's nice to see. Even though they're not capturing high ratings in the demos, at least in total viewers it's going up. That's important in the long run. Like I had mentioned in another thread, the best strategy right now for All My Children is to maintain and even bring back the lapsed viewers, even if they're older than 49. By doing so, hopefully good word of mouth will follow and as a result the daughters and the female friends of these "older" viewers, who are 18-49, will tune in.

I'm glad Days of Our Lives didn't insanely drop during the Winter Olympics, like the last time. I just took a closer look..glad the show is still stable and wasn't hurt that much.

It was! I just remembered, she returned that Tuesday. Ugh! Hopefully next weeks ratings are better, I'm thinking Brooke is a character who would bring back a lot of viewers...this isn't good if she doesn't at all :\

There hasn't been a recent return that's generated a significant bump on the day the character debuts. Greenlee, no (both times). Jesse and Angie, no. I think there has to be a significant story point that would drive viewership up.

Well it will start getting awful again sometime before May or June when the Guiding Light and As the World Turns writer's take over the head writing position. AMC is good again right now but will it last. It might not be as bad like it was for GL and ATWT. ATWT writing isn't that bad right now compared to last summer.

AMC (1.1), B&B (1.1), OLTL (1.1)and ATWT (1.0) are headed for a 4way tie in 18-49 demo for the year. Give or take a few points, they have been running about even for some time now. ATWT being the 'old people' show is sort of a myth given the fact that the show often does well with the "girls" ranking and the male demo which probably breaks down fairly young because of the Nuke thing. B&B has fallen so much over the past two years. I remember when it was one of the 'special' shows and at least 500,000 viewers a head of the pack. I never thought B&B would come close to duking it out with AMC in total viewers. Brad Bell needs do to do something fast. Does anyone know when the show began trending down?

    • Shut up, Dante and Lois.  I actually don't mind this particular soap trope, but in the context of this storyline, it just feels forced and unnecessary. If anything, this Dante/Gio tension needed to begin months ago. Plus, this storyline, in general, isn't doing Lois any favors either.  Emma comforting Gio was really sweet though. It's definitely time for the two of them to have their first kiss. And, Joss playing Secret Agent Barbie will just never work.
    • Note to makeup - Smitty’s eyebrows, bad clamshell look.

    • Okay I can buy that when Brook Lynn was a teen.  Now she knows the child is a boy one would think she'd be slightly suspicious.  Then again, Gio looks nothing like either of them so maybe not lol.
    • I've been behind & just got caught up & the last 3 days were amazing!
    • Yeah.  The hot, poor bad boy with a chip on his shoulder but with a heart of gold was a common soap trope in the 80s

    • That's been an issue with me... the lack of a cohesive 'Have Not' crowd that has focus other than Leslie/Eva.   I would beef up Jan, Mona, Laura, Joey, and few other male characters.. and not just be out to overthrow the Duprees.. but co-existing and broadening the scope of the show since the show is called Beyond the Gates. I think the set up the show has with everything revolving around the Duprees will become predictable especially if they always win.   It would be like Victor Newman on Y & R for 40+ years.. always winning, hardly ever losing.   With MVJ/Guza.. both trained under that mindset... I fear that will happen.   I've always heard from a performer that is playing a character like Leslie/Dana that you have to find the victim/hurt beneath the surface in order to play a villain/villainess... and I think that's why I enjoy watching her.. because she brings so much more to the part than what the writers put on the page.
    • I figure that was really hard for Dom to do. I completely GET why they wrote it the way they did but I wonder if it was necessary. Meanwhile I have 2 really icky ideas in my head. Drew is going to blame Tracy KNOWING it was not her. Dante is going to blame Lulu.  After that, everyone else is going to be mad at Lois.  Tracy is going to double down on wanting to get rid of Sonny. Sonny's going to be more dug in to stay because he now has a new descendant.
    • I can actually buy Brook Lynn being so self-absorbed and incurious that she never thought to question why her mom and grandma were so attached to Gio.
    • It was overkill and the whole narrative Lois was too nice to the orphan kid when he was little, WHAT? Like Emma said no one thinks Gio is a troublemaker that gets 14-year-old kids drunk for fun. That being said, Lulu figured this Gio thing out in episode, but Brook Lynn never once questioned Lois and Gloria's attachment to a child that was the same age as the baby she gave up?  Ever?
