October 26, 201015 yr Author Member I'd pick Vancouver, I think. I know some people who live in Shaughnessy. Shaughnessy...home of my parents. Small. World.
October 26, 201015 yr Member Never knew you lived in Canada! I'm amazed because I "sensed" it right away.
October 26, 201015 yr Member You have a point. Because that's how I've grown up, I guess it doesn't seem odd to me (particularly cuz I grew up with the controversy around French immersion--I remember a newspaper sent a journalist to even quiz some of us as kids, as one of the beliefs by those against the program was that kids wouldn'tproperly learn how to read English, etc--of course what they came up with was that most kids in French immersion were actually more advanced English readers than those not...). We do get used to having French text on nearly all of our products, etc--but most things like street signs are in English only, except in Quebec where they have to be French by law. I think one reason is Canada is just such a freaking large country--space wise--and not all that densely populated, which means growing up in Western Canada you wouldn't really have a huge crossover with the French speakers (we have a much much denser Asian community in BC of course). I remember the street signs where I grew up said: Stop Arrêté la Seriously, lol.... Northern NB Most westerners don't even know the country extends beyond Quebec City to the east.... I wish I was joking. I remember meeting an English student from France who asked what PT and ET meant behind our TV schedules. When I mentioned 7 time zones she was astonished.
October 26, 201015 yr Member They should look at Angelina Jolie! Whose kids are attending an English-French school in Budapest these days, LOL! Europe is so much further ahead on this than we are. Depending on where you live, French TV programs are either minimally available or not at all. Mind you, where I grew up all the porn was in French so there was more of a reason to watch. Gotta love French CBC....
October 26, 201015 yr Member I would be a Vancouver person, myself. Nice weather, beautiful scenery...I couldn't handle a Montreal Winter... the north end of the Ozarks is bad enough! I watched that decorating show that Ambrose Price has, and he's from Newfoundland.. the accent was very unusual, and incredibly sexy. I could just listen to him talk all day long!
October 27, 201015 yr Member Daytimefan... Thom has decided to get himself some lipo on his stomach and neck, and he's been sharing the process with his fans and friends. Fascinating stuff. He posted some before and after pics. He says there's not alot of pain. He said he used Dr. Harvey Abrams, and was very pleased with the result. The stomach especially made quite the difference: Edited October 27, 201015 yr by alphanguy74

Scholars actually go to Newfoundland to study Old English linguistic patterns.

The stomach especially made quite the difference: Well, his stomach is clearly looking good. Already flat. Looks great actually. Now, the neck...I wonder where exactly it's been done. I'm wondering if it isn't actually submental liposuction, it's done right under the chin to eliminate the fat pad that can give people a double chin. If so, it'll heal really well and look super natural. If it's of his actual neck...that's odd and rarely done.
October 27, 201015 yr Member Regarding Thom's surgery, am I insane thinking that the before picture of his stomach looks SO MUCH BETTER?? The fat in his upper stomach looks more like muscle to me. (I like beefy guys, myself).. Oh Daytimefan we need your expertise.. and neck lipo SCARES ME! That wand going in and out of your NECK?? I am guessing it would be a very small needle?
October 27, 201015 yr Member The whole thing just looks gross to me. Lypo? SIT-UPS!!! Thom works out three times a week, and that little pad never goes away. For some people, I guess it doesn't. He had it years ago, just usually put his arm over it:

I think both stomachs look good, I can see what you're saying about his fat pad looking like a muscle, but in clothes I'm willing to bet it just looks like beer gut. Neck lipo, if it's actually the neck...would be something I would not advise. The skin of the neck tends to drape poorly, age poorly and there are so many important blood vessels there, I just wouldn't go there. Submental liposuction, on the other hand, is totally safe, totally natural looking and is done with a very small canulla (the needle that sucks the fat). It gets rid of the double chin perfectly. If I ever develop a double chin, I'll have submental liposuction, it's THAT safe, you aren't even under general anaesthesia for it. The whole thing just looks gross to me. Lypo? SIT-UPS!!! At a point sit ups and exercise and diet don't always cut it. Thom's hitting 50, hormonally, he's not in a great place to get ripped. Liposuction was probably his only answer. He had it years ago, just usually put his arm over it: Thom wrecked his face, what a handsome guy, he looks so different now. Sort of like Jennifer Grey. Not bad, just different.

And his bandages go from under his chin around to the top of his head, but not around his actual neck. I don't think he wrecked his face... but I like him better before. The pouty lips and soft features. Hea wanted that masculaine jawline, and he thought his chin was weak. I didn't think so at all. If I were him, I would have fixed my teeth and let it go at that (his teeth were pretty crooked). Edited October 27, 201015 yr by alphanguy74

You're hard pressed today to find a woman who's had children and doesn't have a little paunch at her lower abdomen, no matter how thin they are. The body is what it is - that's life. I can't fathom the mental gymnastics actors must go through to justify this for themselves.
October 27, 201015 yr Member I'm amazed because I "sensed" it right away. One ironic problem with Vancouver (aside from their horrible homeless problem, which comes with the good weather I guess--it's still not as bad as Seattle's) is ironically you really need a car, unless you live in one of the more expensive areas like the West End (and Vancouver is VERY expensive--Hell, so is Victoria especailly on the water where I live--housing costs are insane). For the olympics they finally expanded the SkyTrain so that you can basically take it to the airport or the ferries but it's still not super convenient and their bus system is a mess. Montreal on the other hand has a pretty brilliant metro and transportation system (and because Montreal went into heavy poverty in the 70s, it never had the mass exodus to the suburbs that most cities did in the 60s and 70s--so there'sa lot of affordable housing right downtown).
