Shonda Rhimes Again!

From The Hollywood Reporter:

ABC on Tuesday picked up two more pilots, a new medical drama from "Grey's Anatomy" creator Shonda Rhimes, and "Body of Evidence," both from ABC Studios.

"Off the Map," executive produced by Rhimes, revolves around three doctors, each anxious for a fresh start. They leave the comfort of the States to work at an isolated tropical clinic, where they face both exotic and unusual medical challenges as well as personal ones.

"Grey's Anatomy" co-exec producer Jenna Bans wrote the script and is executive producing with Rhimes and Betsy Beers.

"Body of Evidence," is a procedural that centers on Megan Hunt, a former neurosurgeon-turned-medical examiner who brings a unique and crime-solving perspective to the ME's office that often puts her at odds with her superiors.

Chris Murphey
wrote the script and is exec producing with Matt Gross, on whose idea the project is based.

Gross described "Body of Evidence" as "a female postmortem 'House'."

Earlier on Tuesday, ABC ordered the comedy pilot "Happy Endings."

Have you looked at the pilots in development for 10-11 yet? All of it...just about every single one of them on ABC/CBS/NBC contain at least one of the following words: doctor, lawyer, police, agency, government, forensics, etc etc etc blah blah blah

ABC also picked:

ABC on Wednesday picked up two more hourlong pilots, "Cutthroat" and "Generation Y."

"Cutthroat," from 20th TV, is a dramedy about an ambitious single mother who finds running her own international drug cartel is perfect training for navigating the cutthroat world of Beverly Hills high society.

"Reaper" creators Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters are the writers/executive producers.

"Generation Y," from ABC Studios, is a documentary style drama that follows a group of people in the present with flashbacks to 10 years ago when they were in their senior year of high school.

It is based on the Scandinavian series "God's Highway," produced by Stockholm-Copenhagen Prods.

"The Unusuals" creator Noah Hawley wrote the script and is executive producing with Warren Littlefield and Stockholm-Copenhagen Prods.' Henrik Bastin, Peter Magnasson and Martin Piersson.

The pickups follow a busy Tuesday for ABC, which marked three pilot orders at the network.

Weeds 2.0 and Lost-esque Flashbacks Saturation v35.7...

The lack of innovation is disappointing, but I guess I'll take Weeds and Lost 2.0 over ER and LA Law redux 1,000.

I'll definitely watch "Generation Y" and maybe "Cutthroat" depending on the casting.

The sad thing is, I'll also probably watch Shonda's new show. LOL This show is so going to be on at 8pm Thursdays for a 3 hour Shonda block!

Pretty much. I think I cam across several Weeds wannabes in development but not necessarily ordered to pilot.

Generation Y is Lost meets the short-lived Reunion.

Off The Map basically sounds like China Beach on an Ego Overload.

All sound terrible. And can Shonda do anything different? She started off hot, but I need to see her branch out. I wish instead of Private Practice, the Grey's spin-off was more of a Knots Landing to Grey's Dallas. Strong connections, but two completely unique shows that stand on their own. If PP wasn't following Grey's it would've been canceled ages ago.

Shonda is her own biggest fan, if those cackling podcasts she and her galpals do are any indication.

I wonder if she will give her pal Isaiah a job.

Shonda a pilot about reporters last year (or the year before) but ABC didn't pick it up.

She should have trashed up Private Practice and made it all campy and Melrose-like.
