I am not watching that sneak peak. I don't want it to be completely spoiled. I am already on pins and needles. Sunday 9:00 p.m. cannot come fast enough. I am waiting until Sunday evening to sign back up for HBO though.

Here is another clip with behind the scenes takes: http://www.youtube.c...&v=Ww6rFGkU_44#!

Anyone get the bluray set? Its marvelous, especially the very detailed episode guide with character bios, family history, locale info, short vignettes on the backstory before the story of the series opens up. Its VERY well done and very helpful for someone that has a hard time remembering or piecing together the very extensive lore. Highly reccommend it

Okay, I loved the premiere. It is insane how much is going on. Tyrion is the best. I worry that his "girlfriend" will only bring him trouble. My Jon Snow remains adorably innocent. That man with his daughters for wives was repellent. Although it is hard to be more repellent than Joffery.

The wolves are huge now. The CGI there is not particularly good though.

I love that Peter Dinklage is now the first credit. It is well deserved. I hope he gets a raise also.

That was brilliant. I loved getting to see what everyone was up to and I'm already interested in Stannis and Melisandre. Joffrey ought to be slapped in every episode. It's actually much more menacing now that they're using real wolves but it looks as if they've just edited them into the scenes. That ending was horrifying and wonderfully twisty. And the production values are even better! Welcome back, GAME OF THRONES!

The first season they did not use CGI wolves, but this wolf most definitely looked fake. Joffrey is becoming more than Cersei can handle, I imagine his evil ways will be his undoing. I am glad they did not forget the king' other son on the road. I am not sure how I feel about the new budget meaning loads of action. I love action but what made GoT the great show was the characters and machinations, not the war. I hope they don't shortchange the royal court dynamic for war too much.

I don't think they will, for several reasons. The most important is that war is expensive, even if they do have a bigger budget, but I think we do need to see some of the fighting.

Beyond that the women will continue to play a big part of the show, imo, and a lot of that will be court intrigue. We have to meet Renly's wife. I think that's going to be interesting.

    • Thank you for the great background and summary - very helpful!  Yes, very odd they never brought her back, but at least J mentioned her, so not truly forgotten. Ah interesting, I guess I never realized that CBS was a bit more conservative/old-fashioned in a way, at least pre-2000 or so. It's funny, I wrote that about slapping, and then a few episodes later, Vivian storms into the Spaulding mansion and slaps Alan. It's like I spoke it into existence.

    • When written correctly or played correctly the antagonist will often have a sizable following, although this can go too far. It's why having a balance and allowing your heroes to be called out by other characters is so important. Speaking of that, I did not realize Sonni got a lengthy montage when Michelle Forbes left, or that Pam Long was willing to showcase Sonni/Josh so much for her farewell. The care taken reminds me of when Anne Heche left AW a few years later. Given that Sonni was brought in an as interloper, it shows just how much respect the show had for Michelle's talents and how much she captivated viewers in those two years.

Oh I think Holly gives Blake a smack in the mouth. I think it was during Liz's early days as Blake as that is when they become estranged for a good while, although I may be wrong.
    • Billy slapping Mindy is a turning point in '90. And I feel there was a slap between Holly and Blake during the Ross thing.
    • That definitely was her voice.
    • I was going to put this Lisa Brenner interview in the AW thread but I'm not sure she says much about AW in it. I admittedly skipped around a lot as the interviewer's style annoyed me.

    • Today was amazing, for so many reasons. Others have complained certain stories are dragging and others have rightly pointed out, the show only premiered THREE MONTHS AGO! Yes, the caps are dramatic, but I think they seize the moment appropriately. I have watched more than a few soap opera debuts. BTG, is by far, the best, first three months of a show, I have ever seen. MVJ, rightly, found the best in the business to avoid as my pitfalls as they could, to get the show settled quickly. They have found their footing. Is it perfect, no, but is it as close to excellence I've seen this quickly, yes. I loved today's scenes, particularly with Anita. That voice reading the letter, sounded like June

      to me.
    • GH has to be the only soap that still has a courtroom set and I appreciate that as I love courtroom drama on soaps.
    • Ahh ok, that makes sense. Gosh, I didn't remember Frances passing in 1994. I thought she was with us longer than that. She was such a sweet lady and character. Yes, so good and I'm so happy there is a quality version online. I looked it up and AMC won the Best Directing Emmy for 1994, so I have to assume they submitted these episodes. I'm not sure how to find out to confirm, but would only make sense. I still get chills watching it because I remember it so vividly as a 10 year old. Of course the drama of it all to see what happens to your favorite characters pre-spoiler days, but I grew up in the Midwest so tornadoes were a real, scary thing that. We had monthly tornado drills in school, so this made it seem very real to me. Very impressive. It makes me want to go find and compare the Mardi Gras explosion scenes and their second tornado many years later (although I think I remember that being a lot of CGI perhaps). I don't think I've seen those since they first aired. But for 1994, this was very well-done. Ahh - this was the start of Noah! And so many other great things - I really loved AMC from 91-96.
    • Speaking of slaps, there's the infamous Ed slapping daughter Michelle during the Maryanne Carruthers mess in 2003.
