Even if this turns out to be a short-term gig, I'm glad that there is no hard feelings between Julia Barr and AMC.

I just a terrible thought after reading today's AMC thread about Madison's mother. You don't think there's a chance in hell that Madison could turn out to be Laura Cudahy, Brooke's daughter "killed" by a drunk driver in 1988? She could've been taken from the hospital after being "pronounced dead" and adopted by the Beardsleys. I'm thrilled beyond belief that Julia Barr is returning, but I doubt they're going to give her her own huge story, instead tack her on prominently to one of the ongoing stories involving the younger characters. That would be too McTavishy, right? The writers have pulled crap like this in the past and rewritten history, even major milestones like the unabortion, so I'm not sure they're above doing it again. Please tell me there's no way on earth that this is the story they have planned. I guess I've been burned so much and don't trust the writers at all, that I could actually believe they would do something like this.

I'd love to see Tom back in a more B level capacity (I love the character, I just do't think him returning for an A level storyline makes any sense right now) and loved him with Brooke but... Nah, they'd be boring now. Plus to bring back Brooke only to have her fall for a character who hasn't been a major part of the show since 1995 (and only made some appearances since) would kill the whole purpose of bringing Brooke back IMHO--which is to interact, shake up and reshape the characters that are already on the show--help improve what we have.

(that makes me wonder though--was Tom approached to do the Anniversary ep? Seems odd he wasn't there)

I would love it if she returned formore than a stnt, but at this point I'll take what I can get (also I think shorter character stints are the way soaps in this current era will be going--and ifit's all Julia Barr is happy to commit to right now...)

I just like Tom, always have. He probably was deemed not exciting enough for the show (although while I always liked Greg he was never Mr Party Animal)

I don't know who I would want Brooke involved with. Watching that episode I was just hit with the revelation that Adam got so old. Tad too. Not that Brooke isn't as old as Tad, or older, but Tad is on his way to being Col. Sanders if he doesn't watch himself. I never saw him so gray! Maybe they can do a story where Brooke does an exposé on how Erica's Africa charity absconded with the money. I guess the easiest thing would be do to a search for a missing Jaime, and she and Tad can discover Jaime has fallen off the face of the earth and uncover some sinister conspiracy aimed at Adam or something.

I just can't see the show doing a storyline this heavy with Brooke coming back....it would scare me if they did that, though. I'm just going to wait for more details on the storyline to come out before I start jumping to conclusions. I hope your terrible thought isn't what happens...

Oh God, that awful premonition of Madison being little Laura Cudahy made my skin go all clammy. That's worse than the unabortion in my book, at least that was science fiction. But we KNEW Laura and I could never forgive the writers for casting a pall over that sacred scene of Tom telling Brooke that Laura was killed.

On the other hand, I'm not a big Madison fan and I think casting a good, popular soap actress as her mother would (for me) help the character immensely.

Yeah, I don't see Julia Barr signing up for this.

ITA. The combination of Broderick and Barr comforts me, and I don't think either one would go ahead with something like that. I don't see Barr coming back for that.

I highly doubt that <_< . That's no "great story arc".

It is if (let's say) Brooke is diagnosed with breast cancer. In fact, I could see this being the classic story for Brooke and for Erica, since Mona had the same thing. After all these years (and all those squabbles) Brooke and Erica finally bury the hatchet, so to speak, as Erica helps Brooke cope with the disease - including, at one point, moving her into her new digs so she can supervise her radiation and chemotherapy treatments, like something out of an old-fashioned Bette Davis movie. Then, after Brooke has exhausted every possible form of treatment (including some alternative/holistic ones), and there's simply no hope of remission, Erica must decide whether to help her lifelong nemesis die.

We're talking Emmys here for Barr and for Lucci.

OTOH, there's nothing that says Brooke and Tom didn't have twin girls, and that "the other one" turned out to be Madison. I'm just saying.

That's a good point. I wonder who'd be the ideal choice for Madison's mom. Maybe Alex Donnelly (ex-Diane, Y&R)?

I'm hoping it might turn into a longer stint but this is more than I'd expected, so I can't complain too much. I guess it might be something with Jack and Erica?

I think she may be ushering out Adam which would be cool because I always felt she was his true mate. If she can also help end Ryerica  and bring back Jerica, I will be eternally grateful to her  (as long as she isn't put with Jack romantically).

That would be a compelling storyline. Definitely Character-Driven, I would like it. But again, I'm just not sure if JB would sign up for something that heavy, she has said that if she would ever return to AMC, it would be for short stints....but who knows, her and Broderick are good friends, maybe something happened. There are a lot of possibilities...can't wait until storyline details, media net pics, spoilers come out..
