December 18, 200916 yr Member CBS is going to produce just another cheap game show. I can't stand LMAD. It looks so cheap!! Days going to CBS wont happen!! Mark my words..lol...it wont happen.
December 18, 200916 yr Member I find it hard to believe that there will be bidding war over Days. CBS and ABC want cheaper programming. As much as I am thrilled with Days' resurgence, I don't believe that it will last very long and the networks likely think the same. I can't see CBS or ABC bidding on Days when it will cost more to produce than any alternative programming that they could find. But all ABC would have to pay is a licensing fee, am I right? They wouldn't have to pay all the fees to produce the show because essentially they don't own the show. Right? And wasn't it mentioned by posters in the Brad Bell interview that Y&R, B&B and perhaps DAYS all get money from international revenue, which supplement the cost of producing the show? It would be a costly gamble, but DAYS moving to another network would in the long run benefit ABC or CBS. There'd be the publicity surrounding it, but also DAYS fans are so fierce and loyal that they would follow that damn show anywhere. And even though ABC wouldn't "own" DAYS, there is the potential that bringing DAYS to ABC might boost the numbers of their other two company owned shows. And DAYS, even if ABC would have to foot the entire bill, would STILL be cheaper to produce than OLTL. DAYS would be stable on ABC now, yes. But I think DAYS' long-term viability is in being surrounded by other shows with similar fanbases.
December 18, 200916 yr Member Yeah but NBC has been perplexing to me the past couple of years. Clearly the network is heading in some new direction I'm just not sure what it is. Perhaps they have no clue either. Many consider Jay Leno a flop but if he attracts 6 million viewers a night, brings in ad revenue, is low cost, and makes money who's to say it's a flop to them. Also shows that seem to be NBC staples now like The Office and 30 Rock don't do well in ratings but do a decent job with the younger demos. Days is up in demos and is back to drawing not just a decent overall audience along with pulling in a respectble amount of those pesky younger viewers. And who does Nancy Grace appeal to. I don;t watch her but who are they trying to pull in. The same people who think The View is must see TV? Both NBC and CBS are looking for cheap shows to produce and make money out of no matter how bad the ratings are. Jay Leno like you said is a failure yet it is still making money for NBC. No wonder viewers are going away from the 3 big networks and onto something else. Who wants cheap looking and awful shows on their screens.
December 18, 200916 yr Member While I don't think NBC will cancel "Days of Our Lives", as some have suggested, producer Sony may want to shop it around. If they do, CBS would seem like a logical choice, since Sony also produces "The Young and the Restless". CBS would also just happen to have a one-hour time slot available - the old ATWT slot - just by coincidence? Does CBS and Sony know something that NBC and everyone doesn't? "Days" is indeed one of NBC's few bright spots: 3.1 million is not bad when compared to the rest of the network's schedule; more people are probably watching "Days" than Conan's "Tonight Show". It would be in NBC's best interest to keep "Days" around - for now - even if that meant putting up a fight for it. Yep. CBS is going to produce just another cheap game show. I can't stand LMAD. It looks so cheap!! Days going to CBS wont happen!! Mark my words..lol...it wont happen. LOL. I want to see your head explode when Variety makes it official.

I dont see it moving to either network. The demos wont be the same if it is moved to ABC or CBS.

December 18, 200916 yr Member LOL. I want to see your head explode when Variety makes it official. It wont happen. IF the morons at CBS do bring Days they are [!@#$%^&*] crazy. It won't last the year on CBS.

That is, what, the third time you have said the same thing on this page alone? Who are you trying to convince? Everyone else or yourself?

Wow......I thought I was entitled to my opinion on this board? Why so hostile??
December 18, 200916 yr Member It wont happen. IF the morons at CBS do bring Days they are [!@#$%^&*] crazy. It won't last the year on CBS. LOL. You don't know that. I think a promotional push, coupled with at least a three year commitment would really strengthen CBS' lineup or in ABC's case, perk up the numbers and maybe go head to head with Y&R for #1. Ambitious I know, but DAYS being around more recognizable soap brands(AMC/GH) might improve their numbers. Especially considering that Y&R will probably continue to to trend downward and it's very likely that ABC and CBS do not share the same soap audience. Edited December 18, 200916 yr by bellcurve

Sorry bellcurve..you're cool but it seems some other members have problem with my opinion on Days..so I will refrain from replying to your post.
December 18, 200916 yr Member Wow......I thought I was entitled to my opinion on this board? Why so hostile?? My, my, awfully defensive aren't we? I wasn't being hostile...I just wondered why you feel the need to reply to each and every person who suggests that it is possible that "Days of Our Lives" will switch networks by saying "Days won't go to ABC" or "Days won't go to CBS" or "Days won't go..." I never said you didn't have the right to an opinion, but to constantly say the same thing but just change the network call letters? Just a little overkill, I think.

December 18, 200916 yr Member It's doing a lot of damage to the local news for various affiliates. Well NBC doesn't seem to care about that. If they did why are they sticking with it. Perhaps they will end up cancelling The Tonight Show. I have no idea which one is actually doing better. NBC is still perplexing to me. I don't get it at all. Perhaps this is just one big experiment.
December 18, 200916 yr Member *bangs head on wall* ...of course ATWT actually goes UP the week CBS cancels it.... It's always been the writing that makes or breaks shows.
