I thought it was only me? I mean she could like MM or respect him I'm not saying anything about her relationship with the actor but she's a bit standoffish in the scenes to me, she's definitly not bring her all to them like that. I could just sense a discomfort that shows in t he lack of right chemistry imo. But I don't blame her, and yes I'm lost too. These writers fail horribly, not only is the quality poor it is missing any transcendence with the viewers with the overall theme

Frankly for the me all the backstage drama is showing up onscreen too. Though I have to say this week was not all that bad because a lot of my favourite vets were onscreen so one less thing for me to complain about. I would just like for the show to make it through the holidays without any more bloodshed LOL. I did see a glimpse of a few things that could be interesting but who knows with the show anymore...it's schizophrenic.

Dare I say: I have my plate, knife and fork ready. I am ready to eat my words. Just wacthed my Y&R marathon and I must say I was throughly entertained. I love Ryder and this new story the Baldwin's have.

I love the Chancellor side of the buinsess war. We never really got to see that company in action.

SO glad Mrs. C has been on so much this week.

I am really digging this surrogate storyline. Even if it does contain Ms. Baldy.

Y&R also played some classic background music pieces this week. That was nice.

The scene between Phyiliss and Patti was riveting and I think it's sick what Jack is doing with Dr. P

I also like this Pual/Nina/Jill triangle.

Haven't they had one version or another of this story for years? Ryder just looks unwashed and dead-eyed to me.

The show is too plot-driven and the characters are hollow. That they wrote out a character after a 20 year death by saying he has to go fight the evil cattle ranchers...

As for Sharon Case, the story is nonsensical (Sharon magically gets over the death of her baby to moon over her creepy brother-in-law).

Well, Muhney tweeted that he had Sharon Case over to his dressing room late last week, so they could share popcorn and watch Princess Bride together (she had never seen it).

I interpreted this as an attempt to build a warmer relationship off-camera...to add some resonance to the relationship on camera. It is clear that they actually talked. He even found out that one of his long-term friends (Monica Potter) was a previous "Sharon Collins".

I appreciate that Muhney is doing what he can to try to deepen things...get that playful vibe growing with Case.

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

You know every quarter my husband gets to try and stump me with a question..this should have been the easiest one to answer but I don't have a comeback. He asked if one has to be a "professional writer" to write a soap. Now I don't know whether that was his usual cryptic lawyer speak..but I have not been able to come up with an answer yet.

And AMLc...I agree with you..this past week wasn't really that bad..it was better than the prior week LOL.

JimTolkien I'm pretty sure that the only requirement to being a soap writer is to know someone in the industry. How many times have we seen the same old hacks move from soap to soap, leave them worse off than when they started, only to be picked up by another soap when they are fired? This industry is more incestuous than the B&B.

LOL...yep, I can certainly see that and in this case a great deal of nepotism as well. And people are questioning why the industry is dying...there shouldn't be a question, your response sorts of wrap that answer up for me. They move from show to show like a virus and bring said virus to whatever shows they host next. I am going to relay this information to the better half. :) But with that said, I am just going to write-off 2009 as never happened and hope 2010 brings something better than 2009.

I appreciate it as well. SC has a bit of a history of tanking her pairings. She would like for Sharon to be back with Nick. Frankly, he was her screen partner for over a decade. But the character needs other love interests. This may not be the best one, in my book, but it's an interesting choice.

One thing she and MM do not have is a history. Both, say, Likey and Phick featured actors who not only were fond of each other, but worked together to make their pairings take off. The actors were excited to be working together. As SC is not excited about anyone but JM, MM has his work cut out for him. However, MM seems to be a great guy who's aware that he needs to win his leading lady over. He is a member of Mensa so he's a smart guy too...

I'm sure MM is a smart and eager guy but I haven't seen any chemistry with any of his co-stars.

The problem with Sharon/Adam is that there's no reason they should be so chummy. It's not in character for Sharon to immediately get over her baby's death. It's all plot-driven because of some big shock when she learns the truth. Even if SC and MM become best friends, the inner workings of the story are mess.

Or maybe Sharon Case should do her damn job despite what she wants for her character. Nothing makes me root against someone more than this backstage BS. I hope Nick and Sharon stay apart another 10 years and Sharon has to sex up every guy in GC before that day comes.

This is what I would think would make SC more uncomfortable or hesitant with her character in the story-- Not some attachment to JM but who knows what-ever it is I'm not on board with the whole story because it just doesn't have any character driven aspects of it. It's convoluted plot I'm not at all excited. Plus Case had chemistry with Miller and somewhat so w/DD IMO so I'm not sold on the 'she she wants Josh or no one else' aspect

Mark H the story is still a big mess if some chemistry develops

She pimps Nick and Sharon at every opportunity, so her preferences are quite clear and that's fine. She can like whatever she wants, but she needs to play what is written and sell it. IMO, she also messed up Jack and Sharon by not giving it her all. That story could have had so much more emotional resonance, if we could have believed Sharon loved Jack and that he killed that love with his lies.

This isn't a situation where a person is incapable of selling the story they are given, like say, CK with the cancer story. Sharon Case is very capable of selling it when she chooses to. I swear, Y&R is becoming more and more like GH on screen and backstage and that is a problem, imo. If we believe Adam is what is getting Sharon through these dark times and then she finds out the truth that's going to be much more dramatic than if we thought she was just biding her time for another ride on the Nick/Sharon train.

    • Looks like they never removed it as it is still there as of this reply.
    • In a way, it's a shame that Lynne Adams decided to leave the show when she did, because I think Mike and Leslie were positioned very well to become GL's tentpole couple.
    • Correct. Lynne Adams (Leslie) decided she wanted to leave the show, as Leslie hadn't been given much to do since Adams returned as Leslie in 1973 (and now everyone can witness her first scene returning as Leslie in 1973 on YT - unreal) I don't think the Dobsons tried to stop that from happening, as I think they wanted Mike single again. I agree, @DeeVee - they should have let Mike and Leslie have a child together. I wonder it they thought it would be too strange to have two siblings that could also be cousins

. As far as Ed and Holly go, at least they allowed Ed to show up at the end of TGL and take Holly on a "trip around the world". IMHO, I don't think Peter Simon had as much chemistry with Maureen Garrett as Mart Hulswit had, but I'm glad the show gave them a final scene together.
    • IF this gets a renewal I can't see LY sticking around
    • Well, I'm glad to know Devane and I are on the same wavelength, lol.  But seriously.  I don't believe there's any other word to describe the machinations that the producers constructed in the name of keeping Greg and Paige apart.  Greg and Paige made Sam and Diane look mature by comparison! Which would have been just as well, since a character like Greg Sumner didn't really belong in the '90's, as the storyline with the task force proved only too well.  If KL had returned for another season, it would've needed a MASSIVE overhaul, including ditching Greg, Paige, Claudia and Anne.  Mack and Karen would've needed to be there for the sake of continuity; and maybe some mileage could've been gained from exploring Gary's new life as a widowed single father.  (I still would've loved to bring back Julie Harris and have Lilimae help Gary take care of the twins).  Otherwise, it would've been a new era for KL, one without The Sumner Group, or stories like Wolfbridge and Empire Valley.

    • Didn't she know when she involved him in her scheme, before the character was introduced? I thought she tracked down Janice's son and poisoned his mind against Rachel in order to get him on board.  It's a bit confusing because in the summer of 1988 we get a lot of Drew Marsten (whom I had forgotten was Nicole's ex) and mentions of a mysterious Countess and also Reginald working to undermine Cory. Drew disappears around the same time Evan arrives, and gradually we get the reveals that he is in cahoots with Iris, Janice's son, etc.
    • I apply totally different standards. For Felicia & anyone else in Bay City it's reel as opposed to out here in the universe where it's real.
