Ok I just got this from my source about what is happening with MTS. Bascially SONY wants Nikki to be put on recurring status but Melody wants to stay on Y&R so she is unhappy about that. Even though MTS resigned with Y&R this summer, Sony wants to change the details of her contract. They are negotiating at the moment with her. But Melody does not like what they are proposing so she may not be returning either after Nikki is written out with Victor.

Yes, but Eric Braeden has been with the show for almost 30 years. He is, in many ways, their public face. I think that means he should get more money than someone who is new to the show, and who has not really been in a major TV role in decades. If their focus is on saving money, then I'm sure they can find someone who will be a lot cheaper. You don't always have to go for a name, or a semi-name. Was that River story anything beyond mediocre even with Michael Gross in the role?

The thing is, Carl... by all accounts, Braeden was making more than Jeanne Cooper. And THAT has been a complete and utter outrage to me for YEARS. If Braeden was making 2 million a year, or close to it... from what I hear, people like Liz Hendrickson pull about 150-200K.

DAYS has bad blood with Ed Scott and can't afford her. Frons will never let a woman who is over 50 and isn't a stick figure on one of his shows in a major role. Susan Lucci, who is slim and tries to look young and has been at AMC from day 1, only hangs on because she took huge pay cuts.

This all goes back to the past when the decision was made to pay EB this salary in the first place.

Soaps ran successfully for years on tight budgets and it was unwise to start paying the big bucks to the so called 'stars'.

If Y&R dumped Gloria,Jeffrey,Amber,JT,Victoria,Eden and maybe Jana and stop hiring unnecessary newbies then maybe there would be the money for the core characters to continue.

My source has told me today that SONY has ended negotiations with MTS. They told her to either go on reccuring or that is the end. MTS said no to recurring and she is offcially gone just like Eric Braeden.

Cant believe Y&R/Sony had the nerve to do that, Im shocked.

If this does turn out to be true, I'm glad you let us know, so that we won't just hear from the same soap press that painted her and painted Jess Walton as a selfish b!tch at the mere thought of not accepting peanuts.

And here we go if this all turns out to be true!!! Let's all thank Maria Arena Bell and her brilliant writing team for putting the show in this position!! I am not going to blame Sony for this..NOPE..won't do it!!
