I hate to be a pest, but could someone direct me to this Archive (the Internet Archive) some of you are referring to for episodes of Guiding Light?

Thank you.

Annette

In addition to the Archive, you should know about the Vault provided by the amazing @ChickenNuggetz92. Just about everything from Blake Marler should be there, and often in better quality from a divine angel. Blake Marler's videos were used to fill in some gaps. Thank you also to the angel currently keeping up with uploading Spauldingfield's episodes. Anyone can download things from YouTube and upload there per instructions provided in the link, so please, anyone, when you see something new on Youtube, please help to save it. I work to keep it organized, so I do recommend keeping that dpi number that Spauldingfield uses because I notice people comment on the dates and then they may get changed but that number verified which video it is from the collection. In a couple of cases I found that we have two different episodes with the same dates in the vault so I will keep both, but it does get messy and there's no daily recaps for the 70s through early 90s so if anyone has corrections to dates, you can always ping me. One person was comparing them to the German episodes on YouTube and giving me the German #, and I was able to date the episodes from that. Thank you to all angels who assist and upload. 😇

Finally, Alex gets up & leaves the room, saying over her shoulder as she goes, “And would someone please pass Beth the damned butter?!!” [Special Thanks to Maria Trivisonno for finding this in Blake Marler's files!] Also in the front room, Harley is trying to shake down Alex with a piece of lingerie she says she found in her husband Alan-Michael’s robe pocket. It is clearly not anything Harley would have worn. Alex is just about to write a check when A-M barrels into the room. That’s the end of that deal. Phillip: "You should have been here when Alan was! ... I'm in the middle of a dinner party with my slightly cannibalistic family."

The thing I will miss about the BM channel was the subtitles. I managed to archive everything 1-2 years ago and yes, we still have the vault for which I'm sooo grateful... the issue for me... is that I forgot to download the subtitles from youtube (the automatic captions) and I would use them when watching... a lot, especially when the quality was lacking and the youtube AI somehow managed to create subtitles. And, of course... the fact that you can just click on the youtube app on the tv and watch. It's way easier that having to connect a drive to the TV, open up the folders and search.

These channel-takedowns horrify me. I hope to God something like this doesn't happen to the AW videos currently being uploaded. Again, I'm downloading everything the second it hits youtube... but still.

In Chris Crocker's words from 2007 - LEAVE... THE SOAP EPISODES... ALONE!

I had forgotten until someone on Twitter pointed it out that the episodes were taken down during the show's anniversary week...

I hope Irna haunts them.

Frankly people need to do this for the now quite extensive GH and OLTL archives before it's too late.

Who is this?

And, co-sign your whole take on it!

A youtuber that went viral in 2007 when he made a video called "Leave Britney Alone" - he was melodramatically enraged and asking people to stop tormenting Brit and Leave her alone. So yeah, LEAVE our classic soap videos ALONE. I can't imagine how disappointing it is to lose a channel full of thousands of videos that someone was collecting and putting in playlists for years. That's why I have been telling people for years now - anything on youtube is temporary there, download it, before it disappears. That's the sad reality. So much amazing content I've lost because I was too lazy in not downloading it.

The Vault is what I have been using on my GL watch and now with the Blake Marler YT channel down, this is my only option. I was so sad to read the news about Blake Marler's channel while on vacation. I'm thankful for those that are maintaining the Vault and allowing others to use it. :)

I hope everyone is having a great July 4th holiday!

Because it is the 4th of July...favorite Bauer BBQ?

For me, it's 1990. Ironically, people are avoiding the BBQ. Rick, Mindy, Beth and Phillip reminisce at Laurel Falls, Josh/Reva are down in the Keys, and the Lewis-Chamberlains are at HB's suffering from unrequited love. Ed and Mo spend the day arguing because Ed criticized Mo's potato salad.

It's my favorite because Vanessa snarkily wishes Billy a happy independence day when he wants to keep his options open with Nadine, Ross is strolling around in a tank top, and by the end of episode, Holly accepts Ross' proposal, Billy has dumped Nadine and Vanessa tells him she wants to be married, and everyone's gathered in the backyard to sing. (I think it's "This Land is Your Land".)

This should be our motto, anthem, rallying cry.

1. Been there, it's awful.

2. TESTIFY!

3. Lazy? Nyah. Probably just temp distracted by life stuff.

4. I read someone say that the shows are not going to do sharing of these clips & some fans are doing it, unofficially now & they ought to make it a part of their plan to make some fans official in care, preservation & sharing. I was moved by their words.

So, here in GL Land, Mo is Maureen Bauer but in GH Land Mo is Maurice Benard. Like just now sometime I am distractedly reading & I suddenly stop, thinking what occasion did Peter Simon have to dislike Maurice Benard's potato salad. THEN I PAY ATTN & instantly there is no mystery!!! LOL.

And, a different Bauer BBQ year.

The 1984 Bauer BBQ was pretty good since I think it was one of the first ones (if not the first) because it had Bert, Hilary, and Mike still on the canvas... and it just looked like a fun time.  So if 1984 was the first Bauer BBQ then I guess that's another thing Pam Long created that became a hallmark of the show.

The 1988 Bauer BBQ was funny because Mo was busy planning Fletcher/Maeve's wedding and she didn't tell Ed that he had to pick up the meat since she assumed he could read minds (sometimes she was such a pill)... Johnny and Reva had a heart to heart after Roxie's breakdown, while there was fun banter with Alan Michael/Rick not realizing that they needed to dress up for the wedding as Chelsea looks on laughing.

Sigh...I know it's been more than 30 years, but you'd think he'd remember that Harley gave her baby up.
