lol...me too. No one got under Van's skin like Nola.

As a reliable source of info, no Fletcher didn't annoy me. Although I'd classify him as familiar rather than a "comforting" presence. It's when they pushed him into a romance that set my teeth on edge. Fletch got "yelly" and presumptuous when he got involved. He's downright clingy and self-righteous with Vanessa, although I do recognize that part of that is that deep in his soul he knows Vanessa's just not that into him. No matter what she says.

It's also one of Jane Elliot's first appearances as Carrie. And there's a scene with Henry and Vanessa, where they discuss she's being blackmailed, which I didn't realize that he knew.

What do you all think of Marcy as a Mindy recast at that time?

You should watch Signy's interview on the Locher Room and hear what she said about him! Strangely, Locher, ever the P&G PR man, let her talk and didn't edit the conversation. Now, I'm a huge Lujack fan and AMC'S David Hayward fan, but she swayed me from being a VI fan.

"Where is the son that you ever gave him?" Yikes! Who talks like that? Yes, I frequent Datalounge...

I'd have to agree with whoever suggested Marcy Walker for Emily Mason Norris.  I think she would've been terrific as Holly's niece and Blake's cousin (given the right writing, of course).  But you're not gonna like who I would've paired her with.

Okay, I will have to make time to squeeze that in, but I will do so. However, VI did me a big favor when I was running a very serious campaign to try to get a Posthumous Emmy for Beverlee McKinsey & I am inclined in favor of him as a person as a result of that very positive contact, but, sure, we'll see. Thanks for the heads up.

No problem. I mean, I don't want to demonize someone I don't know. I'm just offering another perspective. Judi (Evans, ex-Beth) seems to think very highly of him, and she has been candid about her off-screen issues with others.

I think Mindy was beneath her talents, to be honest (and I am a Mindy fan). Still, it would have been more logical than what they did with Tangie.

@P.J. Thanks. I think I watched the episode a few years ago, but that one moment is still visceral in my mind.

I swear I remember Bea walking through the doors to Ed's patio and announcing to Nola that she'd told Kelly during the Kelly/Nola confrontation, but I was completely wrong!

It's nice to have the entire episode up. I can't recall having seen the Bea/Nola part up anywhere. I'm not sure even the Quola fans had that.

But, it should be said that Kimberley Simms gave Mindy much more depth after taking over from Krista (Tesreau, ex-Mindy), and matured the character. I can see Marcy as the next step in that progression.

The early 1980s was peak ABC big three and that was reflected in the Daytime Emmy nominations.

Lisa Brown got nominated twice for As the World Turns, 1987 and 1988 Supporting Actress.

Krista Tesreau original recipe Mindy came across as a spoiled brat/daddy's little princess. Kimberley Simms took Mindy to a whole other level. Kimberley Simms Mindy initially had some remnants of spoiled brat/daddy's little princess but then Mindy grew up and matured.

Unpopular opinion, but I think the show should have rested Mindy as a character after Simms left the show in mid 1992. Her character hardly contributed to the show when she was recast between 1993 and 1995 so it would have been better to have brought her back later on when either Simms or Krista were available to come back.

Also, if they had managed to get Krista to come back later on... I would have paired her Mindy with Frank.. since the two had chemistry during their brief dalliance in 1988 during the writer strike.

    • I just had an epiphany. The most drag moment in soap history is the introduction of Lucy Coe on GH. Miss Coe was the Medical School Librarian.  She was a mousy blond who was called to the stand by the defense of Kevin O'Connor.  She wore her hair in a bun, a blouse buttoned up to the neck, and a modest skirt with flats.  She testified that Kevin was studying at the time of the murder, for which he was on trial, thus clearing him of the charges against him. When we next saw Ms Coe, she arrived home, let down her hair, stripped down to lingerie, threw on a pair of heels, and sprayed some perfume.  Soon, there was a knock on the door, and it was Kevin. Now, that's drag!

    • A really good show to start the week. Philip is really going to shoot himself in the foot, isn't he? He should just be grateful he still is co CEO on paper, but instead he is trying to insert himself into the Hospital takeover. I worry he is going to mess up the whole thing and Xander won't get it, and Bo won't get the cure. Eventually Xander will have to fire him. Alex and Brady were both great today shutting him down. Amused me that nobody has bothered to clue Brady in on the forged letter fiasco. Kristen and Brady discussing their messed up child was very good. I liked that Kristen finally acknowledged her culpability in what Rachel has become. And her interactions with Alex were good too. Alex is strangly working for me these days. Apart from his obsession with Stephanie's soft core porn book of course. I'm in love with Doug3 and Holly. That is all.

Glad that Johnny and Chanel have worked things out. They do communicate well. I think he will be the next arrest in the shooting though. Kate and Roman's discussion would have been better if she had been honest about her recent involvement in corporate fraud, but glad he explained about the gun. Why does Alex have a CEO plaque on his desk? That was SO last year

This news definitely made my day!!! So happy for MVJ, the cast and crew, and all it's faithful fans.
    • Despite having never watched Ryan's Hope, I read Tom Lisanti's book recently as I'm fascinated by behind the scenes stories of soap production. A really enjoyable read, which gave a good sense of the show and New York at that time.  I have to say though, that the vitriol regarding the quality (or lack thereof) of Loving only makes me want to watch that show even more! (It's on my list anyway as I've never seen The Loving Murders).
