I think the younger actors in that scene were jazzed to be part of it. The thing I liked about the Meta character is that she didn't really have a family of her own...(i.e. kids) so it made sense she would want to come back to her hometown and adopt these nephews and niece and the whole town. As someone really without a "family" to take sides with it made her more accessible to the rest of the characters. I also like that she had a past and would understand people's slightly left of the moral center. But they kind of threw it all away (and Stuart became ill.)

Or just that no one over 50 at the time had sex. Five years, and I don't think Bea ever even had a true date.

Alex loved to carp about the "new money Lewises" but that didn't stop her from dating HB. At least when it was only Josh in town. Had Billy been in town, I think he and Alex would've been at each other's throats.

I don't know who wrote some of those histories on that site, but I wish the site would correct the easily correctable.

Yes, I remember that too: Meta acknowledged that she had "made every mistake a woman can make," in a vague reference to her past. That's the only mention of it I personally ever caught, aside from her recalling listening to Rev. Ruthledge recite the Destiny poem when she was a girl.

I specifically forced myself to record and watch TGL when Meta returned, just to see what TBTB did with her. I was sorely disappointed, of course, which didn't surprise me but did annoy me. As you say, it was such a waste to bring back a beloved legacy character and then fail to mine her rich history.

The sad fact was, after 1982 or so, the fans cared more about the essence and integrity of show than any of the TIIC ever did (other than Nancy Curlee).

I'm sorry I missed that. I had probably given up on the show doing anything with Meta by that point.

Do you recall if Meta said anything about specific characters or storylines that she had been involved with on the show?

The male and the female interviewers both seemed like they had just done a line of coke right before the interview. Thank you for sharing a video that would easily go under the radar. This was great to see as I like Kim Zimmer (talked to her once and she was VERY cool) and The Trip to Bountiful is probably my favorite play. I would definitely go if I lived in Raleigh.

A news anchor posted on his FB page about meeting her during this, and he fanboyed out! Mentioned that he and his mother would watch GL over dinner, and how it was not just meeting a star but the good memories that came back of watching the show with his mom..it was really kind of sweet and I think really is spot on how these shows bring back those memories more then any other genre. When I hear Bob, Kim, Lisa or Nancy's voices I think of my Mom and grandmother.

I didn't know she had cancer? She looks really good. The Gates need to bring her on as the matriarch of a working class family

it's too bad there's no audio with this. Barbara and Mart look like they're having fun. I think in the very beginning one of the shadowy figures is Tom Neilsen, but it's just a guess.

    • Good Morning, this is still funny to me but I totally enjoyed what makes up "DemetriKane" so unnecessary, who cares?!!! Glad you like the Emma Peel derivative story.
    • Christian Streaty penned today's Day's script. https://www.linkedin.com/in/christian-streaty/
    • Yes, they did.  I still have them.  I think there were three.  AMC and GH as well.
    • Ah okay, thats what I thought. I was hoping I missed the announcement somewhere. Thanks for the clarification.
    • A new day in Salem… and a new day for Days.  I like the way everybody found out and absorbed the news about John’s death, and how they all eventually found their way to Marlena’s to offer their condolences. I’m not particularly sure why they waited until the next day to tell everybody but I don’t really mind it.  We finally got Roman’s perspective! His scenes with Kayla were one of the best parts of today. I’m glad that Roman is thankful for everything that John did for his kids. I agree with posters who said that he should’ve had a scene like this with John, but I’m happy we got this at least.  Julie was used very well today too. She’s definitely the best person for Marlena to have scenes with at the moment. Hopefully, Julie continues to be there for her. And yes, I totally agree with Marlena and Belle sending EJ away when he came to the apartment. I’m curious to see what’s going to happen to his and Belle’s relationship in the aftermath of all this. And, while I enjoyed most of Brady and Kristen’s scenes, I still think the ship has sailed for them. Hopefully, the aftermath of John’s death causes Brady to finally end this thing with her once and for all.  And, I see a lot of people were wearing some kind of shade of purple today.

    • Wow, I love that current and former actors are participating in this. I barely recognize Staci Greason! She looks fine, just very different. But I will be happy to hear anecdotes from her. I shipped RoJohn and Isabella hard back in the day, and I sobbed buckets in my dorm room at college when Izzy B passed. Honestly, I'm interested in everyone's stories. Drake seemed like he was well loved among the cast.
    • When she first appeared, I was sure she was setting Tyrell up for a prank. She was too much of a manic pixie dream girl- I wasn't surprised Tyrell also became suspicious. Now I'm not so sure. If Jessica genuinely likes Tyrell, it seems like a missed opportunity to not have started her out as a bully, then we see her gradually catch feelings for Tyrell.  The McBrides are definitely the "C" family of BTG. They always get last priority. There have been a few times where the Doug/Vanessa/Joey characters reference off screen conversations which seem too important to not show us. Like when Doug thanked Joey for giving him extra time to pay off the loan. When did that happen? Or when we abruptly moved from Vanessa/Joey at Uptown to Vanessa/Doug in the hotel room. The McBrides don't even have their own set - even though Vanessa is a realtor. It's a shame because I am a fan of the characters and actors.

I am also adjusting to KR as Ted but I feel that AM and MJ had way more chemistry as father and daughter than AM and KR. We saw Eva dream of having a real relationship with MJ's version of Ted for months so it's a bit of a bummer not to have that payoff with the original actor except for those scenes in MJ's last episode.  Something I noticed about Eva today is how she takes genuine delight in being a schemer. As badly as she wants to be a Richardson, she still has so much of her mom in her. It was jarring seeing her earnestly promise to steer clear of Leslie in her scene with Ted, then immediately switch attitudes when her mom showed up.  I'm very surprised with how quickly the accident story has been moving along. I was sure that it would be months if not years before people figured out it was Leslie on the motorcycle, not to mention responsible for the potassium overdose. I'm looking forward to seeing how MVJ and Guza avoid writing Leslie into a corner.  Finally, I have been loving the Articulettes story. Bonita Brisker was just the right amount of OTT - remember Sharon is supposed to be even more angry than Tracy is. If Sharon didn't come in swinging, people would say she fell flat. The way Sharon and Tracy describe the breakup is so Supremes-meet-Original Recipe Destiny's Child. I get the sense that MVJ is re-writing the Return to Love Tour as a roman a clef, and I love it. I'm looking forward to finding out what the secret they share is. If Dante Green is as shady as Berry Gordy was, it's something dark. If/when they go through with the reunion, I expect Dante to show up and claim to own the Articulettes trademark in a Lou Pearlman-esque twist.
