Yes.

To be fair to her, other than some rare guest stints on Y&R she's been out of soaps for a long time and mostly busy in horror. She probably just never had the interest to look.

That she was offered the role flat out without an audition explains a lot about them not seeing how miscast she was. Another JFP failure.

In looking up Barbara Crampton's tenure on GL, I found an L.A. Times article dated May 7, 1995. IT announces her departure from the show. That was not the interesting part. It's the tidbit underneath about Jay Hammer that amused me. Does anyone know the writing team he refers to?

Marcy could have made a good Amanda Spaulding recast.  Amanda had ties with many people still on the GL canvas at the time - Ross, Vanessa, Josh and the Spauldings, of course ... and Walker could have been paired in a story with Zaslow as a romantic interest.

If they were interested in reopening old stories long buried, Walker could have played Ken Norris' daughter Emily Norris, re-energizing the characters of Emily's aunt Holly and cousin Blake, exploring different avenues for her to follow: Roger, Ed, Ross, Rick, later Phillip.

Whether or not anyone likes these suggestions, I've given it more thought than JFP did.

Walker's treatment at GL was embarrassing to watch.

I wonder if JFP had a friend in mind for 1993 Mindy recast but the friend was either not available or not interested. I suspected a similar situation a year later for Alan recast, Friend of Jill either not available or not interested.

We know of four Friends of Jill incidents (Vincent Irizarry, Justin Deas, Marcy Walker, Marj Dusay) and two new Friends of Jill (Mark Derwin, Sonia Satra).

well, then Crampton was there for two years. I believe her first episode is May 1st '93. I know she did have scenes with Jordan before he exited that year.

I think what Hammer's referring to is Reva's shower when she was pregnant with Marah. So Sheri Anderson. I don't blame them---I'd have liked to shut Fletcher up multiple times too.

Vincent Irizarry was on Santa Barbara when JFP was there and his return to GL was the same week JFP took over as EP.

Exactly. Irizarry managed to escape the FOJ label which was good for him. She didn't do him any favors on Santa Barbara so perhaps that helped as well. His storylines on SB were not great although he did met his first wife and Annie #2, Signy Coleman.

VI doesn't like it when people refer to his romantic entanglement with her. When

Digest covered their story along with some similar, VI pitched a fit - and he was quite serious!!!

Invoked their children & what would they think if they read this some day. I seem to have misplaced  my tongue-in-cheek emoji. Oh my.

I wasn't doubting you. i simply had not thought about it.

Lemay was a script writer for a few months in 81. Probably wrote 1 or 2 scripts per week until he moved over to head write the doctors. His dialog was always terrible on AW. I doubt he had much influence over GL since Marland didn't share head writing duties.

Possibly important to remember that Marland was Pete's only protege.

The writing legacy goes like this: Irna to Pete, Pete to Douglas, Douglas to Mulcahey. Sadly, there it ends.

Also, Irna/Pete was not like Irna & Agnes or either like Irna to Bill Bell. Irna was tasked with teaching how to write a soap by P&G, Pete did not revere her like her more real usual proteges.

One more thing, agree to disagree about dialog by Pete at AW.  Me, I very much liked his words.

Ha....like Hammer didn't like getting the attention. I never understood whey they kept Fletcher, they should have sent him off with Maeve. Oh Marion, you had a whole line up of annoying characters to kill in addition to Deenie, Buzz and Fletcher!

That video is weird that it shows PS being...happy, and I forgot the nice Dad/Son chemistry he and MOL had...before PS had to purse his lips in every scene and Oleary had to do his schtick.

If you play Strands on the New York Times site, you might find today's puzzle intriguing.

    • Creatively, he probably should have stayed with The Doctors, where he stood out as an antihero lead. Not sure what happened with GH. He didn't have the same impact. Was it bad writing, not clicking with co-stars? Didn't they gave him a boat load of money to join GH in 1976? Was Mark Dante just a toned-down version of Nick Bellini? Were they basically the same character?
    • All I can think of is if a lot of big names were leaving around that time she wanted him back as a stopgap, although I have never seen any real evidence that he was popular with GH viewers.
    • I loved watching Shanice hand Leslie her ass and finally shutting her up. It was so good. I also love Martin & Smitty's family.  Anita has to have some sort of plan giving Leslie the tickets to mail for Winterfest. She has to be setting her up for a fall. It's pretty obvious to me Vernon is not cheating with Sharon. I think Sharon is helping him with his terrible singing voice for Winterfest. I still believe Bill & Dani are endgame but I love Dani & Andre too. I am definitely enjoying this story. And making Hayley a black widow is a nice twist.
    • Sorry for the spam. Wasn't sure where to put this, it's from Tony Geary's husband's IG. Tony watching Genie and Maurice on Mo's show.
    • This show is really trundling along BTW. When is someone going to show up to slit Beastmaster's throat or crack the whip on metrosexual Sidwell? (BTW, openly presenting this cheery bon vivant as casually bisexual would at least be something vaguely diverting.) At least kill Brennan by year's end. I'm bored.
    • She told Vanessa to "DOUBLE her offer" on the Jarvis house.  The Jarvis family accepted the doubled price.  Assuming the house has an appraised value of $2,000,000, she's theoretically paid the Jarvis family $4,000,000 for the house.  The bank would loan Leslie 80% of the appraised value ($1,600,000), and Leslie had to pay the balance with cash at closing --- $2,200,000.  She only had ONE million.  Where the hell did she get the rest?!  And now she's got contractors working on the house all day & half the night.  Who's paying THEM?  I keep thinking all this will crash around her.  Either that or the writers have absolutely no idea the limits of a million dollars.  Sounds like a "lot of money", but it obviously ain't when we look at Leslie's spending since she got that million dollar check in August.

    • Vernon is an idiot. Why would he have Sharon in the same hotel that Leslie is staying at?
    • Yes, that out of the blue return was odd. Maybe GG found a forgotten clause in the contract he signed when he was wooed to ABC and they were forced to take him back! Like George Reinholt he talked about the contract that promised him primetime roles. But it was loaded in the networks favor. I think it was Gloria Loring that re-signed at Days on the promise of primetime opportunities, but that was all it was- she was put up for guest spots and TV movies but not necessarily guaranteed that she get the role.
    • I still am baffled by why Monty brought back stunt hire Gerald Gordon in the early '80s out of nowhere for like a year. I haven't found anyone who can come up with a thing he did in that second stint of note.
