Alan-Michael has always been a character that I feel was desperately needed the last 10 years of the show. He was the one character that tied the Bauers and Spauldings together. The story potential for Alan Michael should've been endless. And yes, I am ignoring the stint with Michael E. Dempsey because that was NOT Alan Michael. I'd like to forget about that all together.

When GH fired Ric Hearst, they really should've coaxed him to go to GL instead of tossing him on B&B as Whip, which went nowhere.

God bless Sheri Anderson.  She really believed introducing Johnny, Lacey, Jack & Lainie Bauer and Chelsea Reardon would help restore two of GL's core families.

I do give credit for them trying lol. It worked for both AW and ATWT to some extent during the same time frame. I think it would have worked if there was stronger characterizations and maybe even stronger ties to show's history i.e. why not have them turn out to be Trudy Bauer's grandchildren or have Chelsea been the long forgotten Lana Reardon. Instead Johnny, Lacey, and Chelsea came off as so goofy. The show did the Reardon's better with Bridget and Matt in the '90s.

God..how we loved to HATE on Rae. I remember her "comedy" act where the poor actors had to sit there and act like they thought the material was hilarious! And of course she is the stalker..she is the only new character in the storyline.

Aside from the whole hokey caper about Dana being a Beth impostor under duress from a jailbird Alan, she did make a decent pairing with Frank from what I remember seeing but it ultimately too short lived. The character burnt through a lot of story-line in a relatively short time.

I dont even remember her...I kind of remember her going out with Frank, but really, the only women Frank worked with was KT's Mindy..and Melina's Eleni..and that's just because they both had spark, and poor FD was dull and not the greatest actor. Wasn't Dana a sketch artist..I thought that Will killed her?

I just remember Mo being a red herring..."Oh, I had to take care of all those kids, and when Chelsea came along it was almost too much..." and then  Rae poisioning Chelsea's soup at the Bauer house, (which Mo brought to her) which for some reason, we thought was hilarious, which I don't think was the point

I'm up to the end of Summer 1993 on YT and not sure whether to watch the rest of the year and go on to 1994. I know end of 1993 and into 1994 was where things got really bad, and there were some big cast changes, ie. more Friends of Jill being hired.

    • I was wondering what week it was, and it explains the low rating for Knots Landing.
    • Interesting take on Dallas. Frankly I think the plot of JR Returns should have been the way Dallas ended but for whatever reason they thought they had the chance to get renewed for another season lol. A week later Knots’ 2 hour season finale ranked at #10 against Cheers #3 and LA Law at #5. There’s only a handful of other shows running that long and still doing well enough the ratings/rankings i.e. Gunsmoke, Law & Order, NCIS, Grey’s Anatomy and more recently Blue Bloods.    Another point of interest is the unraveling of the 80’s sitcoms had already begun in the spring of ‘91. The first part of a Who’s The Boss? two part season finale we see here ranked at  #40 and second part ranked at #43 the following week. Growing Pains finale the previous week barely made it into the Top 30. The Wonder Years fared no better. Cosby losing ground, Night Court and Dear John just being there etc.
    • I'm glad a lot of people are continuing to enjoy this show.

I haven't posted in a few weeks and have some catching up to do. But I did manage to look at the last two episodes after hearing about how good they were. I really enjoyed them. My thoughts on them: The affair/secret child reveal was very good. TMG was really good as Leslie, her whole confrontation with Ted/revealing all to the Duprees was very entertaining. I continue to love AM/Eva. She my top two favorites on the show (along with Nicole). I have a lot of sympathy for Eva and how she was conflicted/ultimately felt guilty about publicly revealing the truth to everyone. I wonder what will happen to her next, especially if she does go and live with the Doctor that is friends with Ted and Nicole. I lol'ed at how Martin/Smitty jumped up and grabbed Leslie when Eva was calling her crazy. The way they did that was funny to me. I haven't liked many of Martin's actions/his attitude especially regarding Smitty/his children, but I think it was interesting how he wanted to check Ted for his actions. And also wanted Bill to be questioned/confronted about his as well. I haven't been the biggest fan of the character of Andre, but I appreciated his calm and measured approach after the reveal and how he talked with Eva. I thought it was interesting that he knew about the affair and convinced Ted not to tell Nicole. Speaking of Nicole, I continue to love her character and view her as the heart of this show/Dupree family. I am interested in seeing where her journey goes as a character after this reveal. I'm looking forward to her leaning on Dani and (also Anita/Vernon, etc...) for a change.

    • Lol.  I love that this board still allows misinformation from a bad source.
    • Thanks @kalbir what a time to have enjoyed the peak of the primetime soaps. Haha you’re good. The only complaint I have with Lorraine’s death as I mentioned recently in the FC thread was it was overkill, and all we got Apollonia. If a pregnant woman had to be killed off, I would’ve chosen just killing off Robin instead in some freak accident or in the explosion at Richard’s to save us from us that disaster lol.    Did Hotel have a cliffhanger that year? I imagine if Hotel had been soapier we would’ve had cliffhangers like the hotel catching on fire or bombed by an ex-lover of Christine. Peter pisses everyone off and is shot in his office. Or a major Golden age star like a Olivia de Havilland shows and tells how she originally owned the Hotel and how Victoria Cabot & Laura Trent stole it from her but now she owns it etc.
    • The whole AMC 2.0 pulled it together in mere weeks to get a show up and running, with scripts and a cast.

Ginger Smith seemed really passionate about being in the executive producer position, and I think she really did a fantastic job in six weeks. It was just well done.
    • I totally didn’t pick up on that. Just perfect! I don’t get the Maurice Johnson hate around here at all. He didn’t take me out of the scenes at all. I understood everything he was portraying. It was great. I do wonder if there will be a personality shift with the new actor, whom I’m still not excited about. Exactly. Right? I’m in the exact same boat as you. Agree with most of this except I never found anything off with Ted, didn’t suspect a thing. I just watched yesterday’s episode and it was one of the best soap episodes I’ve seen in a very long time. I was enthralled the entire time. Just fantastic.
