Scott Hamner Says Y&R Is NOT Doing A Gay Story

And yet despite some mistakes and bad stories, people are still! praising OLTL again today. Large amounts of people. On many boards. And more positive press, not just one insane Canadian. There isn't a potpourri thread.

I'm surprised you haven't trolled the OLTL threads too, Sylph. Don't take it as an invitation.

Carl, I was expecting a vehement statement à la Hogan Sheffer is the biggest piece of hackdome to hit daytime! How come I don't see it? You've been Hogan Sheffer's most vocal anti-fan in every other thread.

Because Hogan really is a big hack that has destroyed every other show he worked on. And someone needs to keep saying it. Until it finally gets engraved in the collective unconscious.

*flashback to*

;)

Maybe CarID doesn't NEED to say that he doesn't like Sheffer every single day, in every single thread - we already know his stance. That's what I like about CarID, he's not repetitive and I always enjoy reading his/her posts. Rock on, CarID. :)

I had actually sort of felt like I was saying it too much, so I'm glad to know I wasn't. I am obviously not a fan of his writing, especially at ATWT and here, but as much as I'd rather see him leave Y&R, I probably shouldn't put all the blame on him, since there are two other headwriters and then Rauch as EP. Whatever happens I just think some type of change needs to be made. Y&R is supposed to be daytime's crown jewel and it's unsettling to see everything made up as it goes along.

So, maybe we enjoyed those months of their tenure. At least we weren't afraid to praise a writer whose material we were enjoying. So what if we were drooling and salivating and posting 1000 replies. Why do you resent that? Because you were on the "opposite side" when we were liking OLTL or Y&R? How come we never hear what YOU like? What stories have YOU enjoyed lately?

Okay so then you don't mind anyone constantly bashing Pratt then. Or are we going to get a "Oh, enough! We get it. We get it," and "Just take a break." I just don't understand why you encourage one poster to continue the constant bashing on Sheffer, and tell another poster to stop the constant bashing on Pratt.

Merit > drooling. No merit, no drooling.

Moderation. Everything in moderation and good taste. Some posters have it, some do not. Some can also make argumentative posts, others cannot.

This is getting off-topic. I'm not participating!

MAB is the headwriter and a Bell I'm not buying that Sheffer, Hamner, and Rauch are dictating story direction. Most people hire employees who think that like they do. Y&R is MAB's baby.

I can't wait to see how Branco reacts to Hamner's comments. Bet he does not even squeak. He used Y&R. MAB used him. Mutual beneficial relationship.

I thought that Rafe was brought on for Colleen, so him being gay wasn't the original plan. During Christmas last year (the one where they had Jana talking about that V8 Feed the Hungry program) it seem liked they were testing the chemistry between them when Lily introduced Rafe to Colleen.

    • When the announcement was first made, I did wonder if other plans were in the works. I guess we can always keep hoping, especially as the show has a small core cast.
    • @chrismlAbout Lisa, agree to disagree. Actually at the time she was the only thing my partner & I disagreed about. Naturally she was Team Vicky while I was steadfast as Team Lisa.  About John & twin paternity, I think that like the 3 pillows was a transitory idea someone had that no one else agreed with. More of the attempt to accommodate Philece. About MJ, co-sign, 100% agree, if there were more degrees I would claim them. About Wally & Felicia, always a fan. Mitch? Eh, take or leave. Although I do agree that WGE is a really striking man. Who have I left out? I don't know so that's all I got.

    • Dallas peaked early, IMO. Maybe not a fair statement as I’m still making my way through the first half of its run, but I think it’s hard to argue to point that S3 into S4 was its high point. Back to Knots. Wrapping up “And Never Brought to Mind.” Greg’s introduction kinda took me by surprise. I low-key dreaded his arrival bc I know he very quickly gets to the center of the show, but even though they wasted no time connecting him with Mac, Abby, Gary, and Karen, it still feels like a gradual intro. The juxtaposition of the ending of the Chip story with the heating up Abby’s plotting is quite symbolic of the changes the show was going through. I absolutely cannot imagine Kenny and Ginger having any part in any of this. Yall, the Gary/Val piano theme that they pull out from time to time is my FAVORITE. I find myself humming it constantly.
    • Bloodshed is inevitable now. It’s another reason I’m glad Black people aren’t getting involved in these protests. As awful as this is, I keep reminding myself that 54 percent of Latino men voted for Trump. These people were put in harm’s way by members of their own communities and sometimes even members of their own families. Too many people decided to touch the stove.
    • Maybe I'm still in denial, but nothing about Neighbours' ongoing social media output gives the vibe of a show that's ending. In today's 'Roundup' video, Alan Fletcher referenced that production finishes in five weeks, but in all the show's posts the cast are as jovial and lighthearted as ever. Remarkably so for people who are about to lose their jobs.    Perhaps they're just putting a brave face on things, and I know they approached the previous axing with a positive attitude. Maybe putting an upbeat face on things is a collective way of showing potential backers that there's still life in the show? Or is it possible that they already know the show has been saved, and we'll get an announcement next month when filming wraps and the show 'rests'?   Does any of that make sense?!
    • A very good week for male eye candy on GH. New Michael is beautiful, Curtis's arms looked great in that polo shirt, Cody looks even more handsome with his new haircut AND we got Marco in swim shorts rocking his lovely bod and chest fur.

    • Yeah when Jamey Giddens did breakdowns for DAYS, he would sometimes state in tweets that specific things were his idea that he had pitched to Ron.
    • I don't, since they've clearly incorporated them into Tomas' storyline, and I happen to like his tattoos, but his jackets not fitting doesn't mean they're trying to cover his tattoos. The clothing overall isn't the issue; it's the fit. And I expect(ed) more from Jeresa Featherstone and her team. Very disappointed. He's the only male, overall, whose costume irritates me.
    • "And OMG, watching the scenes of Roger's return in comparison...the quality in the writing really nosedived. The stupid mask." Very much agreed.  Having Roger hide behind a mask for weeks/months, with it culminating with him swinging in on a vine at Blake/Phillip's wedding....geez.  So juvenile. IMO, Guiding Light never did a good job reintroducing major characters, either from the dead or elsewhere.  Masked balls = awful.  Amish = awful. When Reva was brought back from the dead, she should've just showed up in Springfield as Reva, and informed everyone that she had been gone for years because she felt like it.  She had a four-year fling with some dude who ended up dumping her due to disloyalty. Josh would be pissed and declare that their love is not *always* but *sometimes* and he'd act accordingly.  Her kids would hate her.
