Thom Bierdz says he only has a few appearances left, and asks fans to write in if they want more of Phillip.

(it's on page 3)

And once again it's someone else's fault besides MAB.

I'm glad his expectations have been met, but I still can't really believe they brought a character back from the dead after 20 years for this. I know Branco says the story didn't work because Bierdz isn't a good enough actor, but that is the least of the problems on the show.

Cause his two episode a month story was SO well written. <_<

Damn, now I'm sputtering again.

They go through all that to erase one of the show's most important historical deaths....and it comes to this??

"Unnecessary".

I think the problem is they're very good at playing 'what if'--what if Phillip came back from the dead? What if Katherine and Jill weren't related? What if Colleen inherits Brad's board seat? But nobody told them that the most important thing about a story is to know how it ends, even in a never ending soap opera.

Writing a good story is like Mapquest...if you can enter in the starting point and the final destination, the route will fill itself in. They problem is that they're just jumping in the car and going.

Wow. And AGAIN, Maria and her band of hacks are not the villains.

“I think they got a little cautious about that. I can tell you this, the people directly in charge of me, such as Maria Arena Bell [co-exec prod and head writer, Y&R] are so gay-affirmative and friendly, but I don’t know what their bosses are like… but this is something that needs to be overcome. I am excited and prepped to do a gay romance in daytime. It’s not just about Thom Bierdz, it’s about gay representation. If it’s not me, then it should be somebody else and it’s time that the gay population is represented on Y&R, absolutely.”

Wow. Maria pushing her anti-Bloom agenda to her cast too. God love her. No wonder Y&R got a two-year renewal.

Barbara Bloom, according to Maria, has no control over Y&R(after all it's MY show and MY vision), so there is definitely no network interference. And why would Bloom, of all people, get cold feet about a gay romance? I mean, there's Nuke on ATWT. And SONY only handles contracts not story.

Just seems to me like Maria's lying out of her ass to everyone demanding answers. It's kind of pathetic really.

So true and it is possible that the route could lead to discovering a different direction but you need to start with some notion of a destination.

They problem is that they're just jumping in the car and going.

Peppering us with their drive-by plots.

I'm so depressed over the recent casting news/rumors. I just can't believe Y&R is starting to let go of it's vets.

Let me define a hater so people won't be too quick to put themselves in this category - as Chris B, you are not. A hater is a person who exists on the board soley to drive hatred towards the show and clearly does not have any hope or enjoyment from the show save to spread their dissatisfaction of said show. A hater generally delights in the failures of the show and actively seeks out new ways to decry failures.

I don't see anyone "delighting" in Y&R's failures. I think when people make fun of the show, they are really pissed about how far the "mighty" has fallen. Y&R was never meant to be some sort of 'boon' to soaps, no matter how great people have hyped it over the years. But something Y&R fans could always count on was, despite every bad story, Y&R never lost it's identity and never became 'cheap' with its stupid premonitions and predictable stories.

This is not Y&R, whatever this is on the air. This is a sick, boring, arrogant retread of Bill Bell's Greatest Hits.

A hater usually has 95% bad things to say and 5% good things to say to at least have an air of objectivity. Is a hater a fan? Yes! Completely fanatical about attacking the show tirelessly and tediously as though it means something and is creating change.

I think you've got people's objectives wrong. No one wants to say anything bad about Y&R. But people, especially at SON, tend to call things the way they see them. But even if that were case(where people, as you allege, are hating on the show and have no objectivity), what about these delusional fanbois who KNOW that the show's not perfect, but instead of engaging in some sort of discussion as to what could improve or to explain why they like a story other than "I liked alot of the story this week" or "So what," said fanbois use fan criticism as the "perfect" opportunity to prove some sort of allegiance to Y&R and to make the ones with valid concerns seem "crazy" or "not true fans."

Disliking the show or a storyline and saying why (not using the same SON catchphrases that have been said about every writing team) makes you someone who is objective, in my opinion.

There has been a mix of BOTH, Cashton. And don't even trip.

You probably don't even read half the posts in Potpourri or anywhere else because of your fanwanking and hardon for Stacy Haiduk.

Yep.

MAB/Sheffer/Hamner/Rauch = The Cascada of soaps. :)

Too bad those hacks can't "Evacuate the Dancefloor."

And now, even though Melody Thomas Scott WANTS to work at Y&R, they are still telling her recurring or nothing else?! That she re-signed long enough to coincide with Braeden's leaving? That's ridiculous AND disrespectful to a longtime veteran of the show. It makes me believe Maria had this planned, not as contingency, but that she knew Eric Braeden's pride would be hurt and crafted this story that damaged Victor and Nikki both so the two of them leaving wouldn't leave offline fans as outraged.

I KNOW you aren't talking about me and Mark here... we dissect this show more than anyone else on this board (For the love of Pete, Mark makes GRAPHS), and you know it, but you've called both of US fanbois. People who aren't liking the show having valid concerns are NOT the problem, me and Mark both have them, and quite a few... but we don't let them consume every post we make. It's this walking around with a chip on your shoulder, LOOKING for something to hate. I've seen it a million times, that's why I don't work for other people anymore.... the workplace is full of that crap. Once someone gets on someone else's sh!t list... then they go LOOKING FOR REASONS to complain and bitch. If you truly love something, you try to look for reasons to love it. And this is a TV show, it's not a husband who's beating you or anything, so looking for reasons to like it does nobody any harm. It boils down to some people like to dump on someone or soemthing else to make themselves feel superior. Mark is a trained professional, he can probably tell you that, but he's too much of a gentleman. But I'm a bitch... so I can say it.
