There is much hope here, and that's not just me being optimistic. They just need to dial back on some of the sensationalism. The biggest problem is putting on a back-from-the dead, kitty-stuffing plastic surgery legacy character, and botox-in-eyeball-injecting-baby-burning prodigal son all at the same time. Moreover, the fact that all three stories damage members of core families (Chancellors, Williams and Newmans respectively) is causing all this concern.

I'm thinking "summer of 1979". Short term. Drive up the ratings, then get back to normal.

Oh, please! This show needs a total clean-up: fire the useless actors, break the boring couples, eliminate the art & sensationalism and get your act together, Y&R... Lotta cr*p going on right now.

But Cast/Walton/Cooper... A good reason to watch.

ITA! :) MAB got burned heavily with Sabrina, so why bring back the art crap AGAIN? We have over 10 actors that we don't care about and that could ensure MTS' paycheck and pay for other talented actors......

Drive up the ratings, then get back to normal.

But what is "normal" for this regime Mark? From what I've seen since they've been in charge, it's either these sensationalistic plots, or they try to use history from like two decades ago to create a story. Absolutely nothing is being done to progress this show into the future story-wise right now or over the course of the MAB, HS, and SH regime. It all feels hallow and void of any real substance.

I hope no hope anymore, these writers aren't skilled or telling the types of storylines that used to make this show so good.

Think about last November. Think about last August. The period in between wasn't shabby either.

But it means absolutely nothing if the future doesn't look bright and it keeps getting worse. There's no point dwelling on the past.

I'm loving Nina more and more as this story progresses; she's on a mission!! I just hope it's nearing the end for Cane/Goddard (probably not though... Grr!)

Yes, this show needs to get back to its trashy and flashy roots, and the corporate intrigue aspect is a MUST.

For God's sake, Alvin... the show's roots are NOT "Trashy and flashy", it became that in the 80's and 90's, when YOU started watching, but it wasn't that in the 70's, not anywhere near it. It was family oriented drama. Lorie Brooks was the closest thing you had to glamour, when she's put on a turban! In the 80's, flashy and trashy came into vogue, so THAT is why the show was that way. Now, fast, shocking, and tawdry is in vogue, just look at virtually ANY primetime show. It's sad. But I suppose tastes will change in ten more years. Y&R has got "aspects" of that now (Mostly due to pressure form CBS, although you ALWAYS blame MAB) but like always, Y&R's hallmarks has never been it's writing, it's been it's production style, quality of acting, and pacing.

These are desperate times, Alphan, no time to ask for quality family drama, which doesn't sell.

Tons of well-written, magnificent trash does, however, sell.

The show had PLENTY of family oriented drama in the 80's and 90's.

The fact remains, Y&R bears a bigger imprint today of its identity from the 80's and 90's than it does from the 70's.

Are they doing this P3 from the dead storyline to un-Chancellor Cane, but have P3 involved so that the Lane fans won't be pissed that Cane is a bad guy and to keep him around?

The future is lame-a-- artists, supremo douchbag/misogyny, psychos running amok, and Victor having babies when he's 80 apparently...

I think it does sell (Family drama)... but I watch "Brothers and Sisters" and enjoy the hell out of it.

Let's hope Ashley's baby was the final pregnancy for Victor.

That's the dumbest thing I have ever read. And the EP and writers think they way you do that's why most of the soaps are in the s h i t s!
