They were complex in the past, but I'm not sure about now. It's going to take plenty of work to make Victoria a viable character again, not just a recast. They may be better off sending her away again until the writing settles down.

In order for Victoria to blossom, we need some corporate intrigue. That's Victoria's element -- not "Art". One thing I don't get -- why didn't the writers have Adam frame Victoria for Ashley's gaslighting? It would have been a blow to another Newman and created dissension within the family. And why not have JT actually think that Victoria might indeed be capable of doing this? Instant conflict.

THANK YOU!

HA! Its like a game. Who gets to do it next? By the end of the week who will have used the most? LOL!

Exactly.

I mean, i questioned your hate of the show and you an swered why you still watch. I get it. I like your view. By all means, "clutter" away!

No. Write her off. Or find an unkowen who can handle it.

I do wonder if the lack of commitment fromt he show plays a role in her performance. Im not excusing it at all, actors need to act whats given and do the ebst they can, but...

There are some actors who just have chem with almost anybody. Even ones that are not on the level GT is (Like Kirsten on GH)... but GT can act like hell and has chem with a wall.

Victoria needs to be rebuilt from the ground up.

hire a greta actress, like Gina T, and then start to strip Viki of everything, statrying with Daddys love. Her and victor have always had this sick twisted love for eachother that freakin creepy. She NEEDS him. have him turn his back on her and her throw herself into work to try and impress him and by doing that put a strain on her marriage to JT, esp with JT still working for Victor. Have JT get fed up and leave her, taking the baby with him.

Then have her have lost it all and turn. Not crazy psychoo cartoon, but like she used to be.

Or something. Anything! Hell make her strong and sassy again and play her as a heavy supporting player in many storylines - The Adam/Ashley one, Nicks life, whatever.

and if not, then just write her off the damn show.

Something does need to be done about Victoria. Ideally, Amelia Heinle would come to work and actually... you know... work. Paul Rauch needs to light a fire under her butt or something because she is capable of greatness, as evidenced in this bitchtastic scene (which STILL gives me goosebumps).

BUT, if Amelia continues to insist on being lazy, a recast is needed, whether it be Tognoni or someone else. Not Heather Tom - she's doing fine on B&B and seems happier there.

I love Heather Tom, but she's phoning it in like hell at B&B. Yeah, the writing sucks, but after her first year on the show, she's been barely giving a damn with what they've given her on that show. Should she ever come back to Y&R one day, the writing has to be top notch and Heather would have to start caring about acting again.

Amelia's lazyness has been present for a while now, it seems as if she sleepwalks through her scenes. Not only is she miscast and the writing for the character not there, but she's another one that just doesn't care about her performances.

I think you have a point, especially due to the fact that MTS seems to be really gone for now. :( This is where it hurts the show that HT wasn't in the role all this time. Now whatever they do there is a bigger hole than there needed to be due to the exit of MTS. GT would be my second choice because she could be a fierce Victoria and still bring the sexy. MB could also be a fierce named actress who slips into the Newman matron role. But she would never fit with JT as her husband. That may be a plus though.

No, it does not. It still manages to do something right, with all of its numerous flaws. Change is needed but if it's nowhere near on the horizon...

Wow, once again I get a nice sleep and wake up to another fight. These threads are just so.... hmmm....

I feel it's more like being knighted, or at least crowned Miss Universe. LOL.

It was an honor to have been able to do it and add a smiley at the end. I'd like to thank God, and my mother. Because I wouldn't even be here without her.free-sad-smileys-335.gif:lol:

This whole MTS is leaving thing, is this for certain? Was there a new development over the last few days? Oh my Gawd, I'm about to hyperventilate.

And the debate about Heinle is really off-putting because she's not being written as Heather Tom is. I know people say she's incapable of it and she's miscast, yada, yada, yada, but there hasn't been storyline where she's been as formidable as Victor Newman's obstinate, vivacious daughter should be. This is what TPTB want Victoria to be.

So, until I see someone give Heinle a storyline where she stands up to Victor Newman and tells him he's a piece of garbage of a. b. c. and d. rather than pouting about not being with Nikki, then I'll blame Heinle 100%.

Maybe this is retcon #5 on MAB's list... whatever she's up to now LOL.

I guess there could be a last min save, but I read on another board that she has already taped her last scenes. I know people will laugh at me for saying this, but I can't process MTS's departure. If I give it any real thought I get sick to my stomach. It makes Victoria that much more important. I like Amelia more than most people here, but the current situation cannot continue imo.

Everyone should be able to say whatever they want. Where this thread sometimes goes AWRY, IMO, is when people comment on the POSTERS and not the POSTS.

As soon as we personalize, it goes to sh!t. I'm not in a glass house...I've done it myself. I'm sorry for that. But if we could just focus on the content and not the context, it would all be much more enjoyable, IMO.

Yup. What I love is that--even though there is all kinds of animosity--when they got to talking about their shared interest (P4 might have Huntingdon's), all three of them INSTANTLY went into moist eye/mutual caring mode. I love that they can so easily access the love JUST UNDERNEATH the anger.

That is a really good observation. Most of the good actors talk about how they work to bring energy and enthusiasm to the little, pedestrian scenes. It's not what you do when you have a showcase...it's what you do when you're a lowly talk-to. Amelia is clearly failing on this latter score.

If she's bored, she'll bore the writers...vicious circle.

I'm sorry, dmarex. It was very nice to have you back this week. I think if we could just commit to not personalizing...commenting on posts, not commenters...all would go better.

ETA: I think MTS is "gone"...like she's been gone before. She's on hiatus while they work out contract stuff. It could be MONTHS.

    • I'm pretty sure Lucy and Bridget never even have another scene together for the rest of the time they're both on the show. Bridget isn't even invited to the wedding! The lack of community feeling and continuity of non-romantic relationships during this period is very jarring. Characters suddenly only seem to interact with a handful of other characters, rather than characters across the canvas. I'm deep into 1997 in my watch right now and find that it's even stranger because the show goes back and forth between ignoring history in order to manufacture some kind of separation between characters (for example, at one point Amanda refers to the Coopers as a family that the Spauldings "barely know," despite her and Alan spending the better part of 1996 going to war with Buzz over 5th street, and Alan has absolutely no reaction when he finds out about something bad that's happened to Abby, which seems pretty out of character given how close they were in 95/96) and ignoring history in order to create a sense of community that doesn't quite fit (characters who couldn't stand Amanda are suddenly acting all buddy buddy with her). The wheels really feel like they're coming off in 1997 (although I know some would argue that the wheels started to come off years earlier). Watching the Marcus/Dahlia romance again from a 2025 perspective is so weird. Marcus is a full grown man who must be at least in his mid-20s and he's dating a teenager who is not only still in high school, but is still fully a year away from graduation, and no one says anything about how creepy that is. I feel like the buzz around Marcus gave the illusion that the show was more invested in him than it ever actually was. Even during his "big" story where he's arrested for Cutter's murder, he actually doesn't appear on screen very often. He's imprisoned, Griffin is brought on, other characters make a fuss about trying to get him out, but there's a long stretch of time where he doesn't appear at all. I've been keeping episode counts while I watch and between Cutter's death in mid-November of 1995 and the end of the year Marcus/Mambo only appears 7 times (and of that only twice in December).
    • The letter reading was very emotional, and Maeve really got to me too. I was a little worried because Vanessa doesn't give a speech at the funeral, which surprised me, but then we got the private letter reading and her true emotional reaction and I was satisfied there. The YouTube channel I watch these episodes on (if not on our Vault), also had upset commenters talk about how Nola's line about Henry not accepting her at first/seen as a gold-digger was totally untrue. It's sad the writers don't do their homework and give fans the respect (and the characters respect). And yep, Bill got up and spoke at the funeral too, which was nice.  I didn't even realize that was Sharon Leal until you said it!  I had to Google it. I loved Sharon Leal in Boston Public back in the day haha. LOL at your Reva/Josh ALWAYS commentary. What is RME though?
    • Leslie is an extreme liar and manipulator. I'm not sure what her point was in trying to convince Nicole she wasn't trying to hurt her. As much as Eva did help orchestrate the entire plot I feel like there was too much piling on. Eva never said she wanted to be a Dupree so Anita was extremely out of line for that comment.

That's positive and something to look forward to for sure, because you're right, 1996 so far isn't nearly as good as 1995. Ohh - what is Lonatrat?  Sadly you're probably right. I did feel like David was rarely seen once Marcus came on. That would have been an interesting spin, having Frank and Tina be teenage lovers and Dahlia really being his daughter. I'm getting the sense that Tina won't be seen too much anymore, as she just left Dahlia with Frank/Eleni as she's heading to jail for a while. I like the Tina actress too!  Her voice sounds a bit like Rosie Perez to me, which I love. I tried to find her online, but coming up empty. This was the only thing I could find about Tina Crede - a character snapshot video with clips and stills of her (randomly starting just before the 1:00 mark):

That's wild that the David actor is nearly 40 here! Definitely surprises me.
    • 5-6   Meh. It already looks like a scattershot week.    5-5 was actually a good episode. Damian and Lily. Phyllis finally going on the warpath that I knew she could get on with Billy and Sally. Nate started to question Audra and Victor's alliance. And I was not even bugged by Kyle and Claire.   But then there's Cole's off-screen story. Kyle and Claire going back to being whiny. And them even wanting Adam's penthouse just sounded like trying to keep the set around. And Diane shouldn't even give a flying frak about Billy's opinion. And Tessa, Daniel, and the guitars...yeeeah no.   But hey...JM looked good in that short. And those pants.  I agree. One of Y&R's good points with fans has always been that you do at least see the vets. And IN stories.
    • One of the things that I found unnecessary and a bit disturbing about Ambitions was that in almost every episode someone was holding or shooting a gun.  Jamey and Ron seem to have the same fetish.
    • I had thought that there was a Tommy Biddles on there, but then I realized I was thinking of Dr. Biddles on Santa Barbara. Never mind!

    • I have watched the scene where Vanessa reads the letter and it's lovely, but I'm really glad now that I never got around to watching the funeral. Henry ADORED Nola! He treated her like a daughter and Stacy like a granddaughter. That's why Vanessa couldn't stand her. He was crazy about all the Reardons. He spent a lot of time at the boarding house. He and Bea--they never explicitly said it was romantic, but they certainly were loving friends. This sounds worse than Bert's funeral. I really did not think that was possible.
