You NEVER said a positve thing about AMC and you have wanted AMC to go down every week. I understand if you hate AMC but please you don't have to kepp preating yourself.

ETA: Good for Y&R being up from last year.

I wonder if the soap boycott carried over into the May 4th show, weird that AMC, OLTL and GH all got 1.8's for that Monday

I don't see why it's a problem with someone hating the show It's a two way street, I don't think I've ever seen you say a bad word about the show......

Sorry but some of us don't celebrate mediocrisy.

The numbers are awful for the ABC soaps, well for all the soaps 4th place and under. Pratt hadn't gotten anything under 2.5 million since pre-tornado (rarely anything under 2.6 million), now 3 weeks in a row of 2.4. Those were and are bad numbers (for B&E, for Pratt - used to get them 7th and 8th place in viewers) so the fact that AMC is the #1 ABC soap as well as the #1 middle of the pack soap in viewers even with those numbers is pathetic. Maybe the numbers for the middle of the pack will pick up when summer vacation comes around. As much as the soaps have made me groan over the last decade, I like knowing that they're around.

You can laugh at ATWT and the rest of the soaps except Y&R because they are awful and the ratings are dismal. Soaps 4 thru 8 should be cancelled. Days is lucky to be on an upswing.

As much as I would love for GL to find life on a new network, this show better conclude on CBS. Those ratings are clearly reflecting on the pathetic writing. If anyone is to be blamed for GL's demise, it's Ellen Wheeler and P&G(Telenext Media). Yes, Ellen's production model is the reason why the show is on air and I've always praised her for it. But since she's the EP, she could have easily fired David KrazyFuck and the other idiots. Y&R, a show with so many writers would never, ever put 4 people as HW. I hope GL goes out with a bang on CBS, and as for those writers, they can !@#$%^&*] off. Ellen on the other hand, I seriously hope she find a producer (not EP) or acting gig on another show.

See, for me, the interesting shows are Days, AMC, OLTL and Y&R (focusing on total numbers because, like NB, I don't give a sh!t about the "demos").

Y&R looks like it is going up, but MAB & JG presided over the most precipitous drop ever for that show...on a weekly basis...in early 2008. So this "gain" for Y&R really just reflects that they bottomed out early last year, and that MAB is achieving some repair now. Still, that they have reversed a decline phase is interesting.

Days remains the miracle. While it is down over last year, it remains the "comeback kid". There is a lesson to be learned there, somehow. Maybe part of the lesson is that Gary Tomlin is not that bad.

And AMC/OLTL also show much shallower one-year decline trajectories than their soap siblings. Moreover, that has been true for a while now.

The shows with serious problems (as we know) are GL, ATWT, GH, and B&B. Since ATWT has basically been cancelled (IMO, with that final one-year contract), the question is whether GH and B&B can pull it together and bounce back. GH was always the "jewel in the crown" for ABC...I'm shocked they can't save it. And B&B should be able to pull off another Bell miracle. Maybe MAB/HS can consult for them :).

I've been waiting for many months now... Unfortunately, I'm loosing hope. Y&R is the best soap on-air right now and it deserves better ratings than that. Maria need to speed up the storylines a bit more. She lacks romance and so much more.

3.8-4.5 I don't think is a possibility in this current climate, even for Y&R. MAB is at least keeping the show steady with minimal gains. She should be commended for that. And while AMC is still not bringing in stellar numbers, they are still ahead of last year by almost 100,000 viewers..... GH bled over 400,000....... I mean its "spin" but it is somewhat of a positive. These days as long as you are ahead by one viewer over last year's number's, those should be considered positive. For me anyway....

I agree, I hope it just ends on CBS with some tiny semblance of dignity. Let it go, it's already dead, let it be buried already.

The writing improved for what...6 or 8 weeks? And now it's boring, senseless garbage once again, that ain't gonna cut it. These people who think that Lifetime is chomping at the bit to get it's hands on a daytime soap that's been dying on the vine for over a decade, has shed a huge chunk of viewers, and is now back at it's rating's nadir are living in a fantasy world. Not gonna happen. They'll happily stick with Desperate Housewives reruns and cheap reality shows.

    • Okay I can buy that when Brook Lynn was a teen.  Now she knows the child is a boy one would think she'd be slightly suspicious.  Then again, Gio looks nothing like either of them so maybe not lol.
    • I've been behind & just got caught up & the last 3 days were amazing!
    • Yeah.  The hot, poor bad boy with a chip on his shoulder but with a heart of gold was a common soap trope in the 80s

    • That's been an issue with me... the lack of a cohesive 'Have Not' crowd that has focus other than Leslie/Eva.   I would beef up Jan, Mona, Laura, Joey, and few other male characters.. and not just be out to overthrow the Duprees.. but co-existing and broadening the scope of the show since the show is called Beyond the Gates. I think the set up the show has with everything revolving around the Duprees will become predictable especially if they always win.   It would be like Victor Newman on Y & R for 40+ years.. always winning, hardly ever losing.   With MVJ/Guza.. both trained under that mindset... I fear that will happen.   I've always heard from a performer that is playing a character like Leslie/Dana that you have to find the victim/hurt beneath the surface in order to play a villain/villainess... and I think that's why I enjoy watching her.. because she brings so much more to the part than what the writers put on the page.
    • I figure that was really hard for Dom to do. I completely GET why they wrote it the way they did but I wonder if it was necessary. Meanwhile I have 2 really icky ideas in my head. Drew is going to blame Tracy KNOWING it was not her. Dante is going to blame Lulu.  After that, everyone else is going to be mad at Lois.  Tracy is going to double down on wanting to get rid of Sonny. Sonny's going to be more dug in to stay because he now has a new descendant.
    • I can actually buy Brook Lynn being so self-absorbed and incurious that she never thought to question why her mom and grandma were so attached to Gio.
    • It was overkill and the whole narrative Lois was too nice to the orphan kid when he was little, WHAT? Like Emma said no one thinks Gio is a troublemaker that gets 14-year-old kids drunk for fun. That being said, Lulu figured this Gio thing out in episode, but Brook Lynn never once questioned Lois and Gloria's attachment to a child that was the same age as the baby she gave up?  Ever?
    • Thanks for finding that. I may have been thinking of this blog entry.
