OLTL: Dropped stories

To me, Rex's paternity is important only if his father were someone like Victor Lord - which would make him, among other things, Viki and Todd's half-brother, and Jessica and Natalie's uncle (!). Otherwise, though, I tend to side w/ brimike on this issue.

Will I get in trouble for this?

I heard something about how Natalie and Jared's wedding was to be a launching pad for a ****load of stories hitting OLTL, but someone (*cough* *cough*) nixed the idea.

Now, how or why would you get into trouble for saying something which was as obvious as the cellulite on Kim Kardashian's rear-end?

I think Frons would love to have a Natalie/Jared wedding. They can have a double with Viki and Charlie.

Followed by, in yet another great nod to history, Ursula Blackwell blowing them up with her explosive wedding cake.

John will mope, Marty will primal scream and tear at her hair, and Todd and Tea will have sex on their coffins.

If they're going to spend this much time on rape stories which go nowhere, then I think the could take time to delve into Blair's conception. I don't want to see her past ignored just because they've gone to the well too many times with Marty.

As with Rex, I don't believe Blair's paternity is worth exploring unless the identity of her bio dad will be huge.

That's why I feel like it should have been Carlo Hesser.

Think about it: Carlo and Viki are practically mortal enemies; yet, they'll always be tied together through her brother and his daughter, and all the crumb-snatchers they share.

Plus, seeing Dorian and Carlo - who, I don't think, particularly care for each other, but who agree about Viki - always mutually concerned for Blair, Starr and Jack's welfare, to the point of putting the three in the middle constantly, would've made for good soap opera.

Ah! ;)

I think there's potential for big story even if her father is not someone we know. When Cassie came on the show, her father was a new character, David Renaldi, and he drove years and years of story.

I just wish they wouldn't bring back formerly prominent characters only because they were once prominent. The returns of Mitch, Carlo, Tina, and Marty I think were all failures for this reason. They have added nothing to the show on their returns. Did they even mention Carlo after Talia was killed?

Have they ever gone into Blair's past before? I know she was in the foster care system and truthfully I could care less about the man who rape her mother. What more can they say about it but that he is sorry for doing what he did and now over forty years later wants to meet a child he probably has no idea about and why would Blair even want to know about this man. It is not important to her unless she is suffering from this part of her life, do her sexual antics stem from her knowing that she is a product of rape and if so I rather see her deal with that with her mother and aunt then with some criminal who is probably not going to drive any future story.

I think this is one of the problems writing stories to satisfy both new viewers and old viewers. As a new viewer I think the need to address a lot of issues with Blair who her daddy is isn't one of them.

I think there's plenty of story to tell about Blair's father besides forgiveness or him finding out he has a child. What if she has brothers and sisters? What if she gets to learn more about her father's past and the way her life could have gone? What if this affects her relationships with people in Llanview?

I think OLTL dismisses everything about Blair to further plot, so I'd just like to see a break from this.

Has Blair ever really had a BLAIR story? Or has she always been relegated to supporting the Dorian story, the Max story, the Cord story, the Todd story and the Spencer story? This may be the longest-running supporting character who never drove her own story. Hell, Starr's had more of her own story than Blair has.

I wanted Carlo to have fathered Rex AND Blair. But I was hoping for too much.

And Carl, Bo did say they didn't want to release info about Talia's death (for which John is being blamed?) until the family was notified, but aren't John and Antonio the only ones that KNOW Carlo is Talia's father? Aside from Cristian/Sarah/Layla/Tina/Cain/Jonas? Did Bo ever find out this information?

This would be a great platform to bring Carlo back with a vengeance, but they've botched too many Carlo returns in recent years, IMO.

True. Nevertheless, I could see Carlo returning and swearing vengeance against the entire Lord family. First, they take his son (Johnny Dee); and now, thanks to

, they take his daughter.

    • When the announcement was first made, I did wonder if other plans were in the works. I guess we can always keep hoping, especially as the show has a small core cast.
    • @chrismlAbout Lisa, agree to disagree. Actually at the time she was the only thing my partner & I disagreed about. Naturally she was Team Vicky while I was steadfast as Team Lisa.  About John & twin paternity, I think that like the 3 pillows was a transitory idea someone had that no one else agreed with. More of the attempt to accommodate Philece. About MJ, co-sign, 100% agree, if there were more degrees I would claim them. About Wally & Felicia, always a fan. Mitch? Eh, take or leave. Although I do agree that WGE is a really striking man. Who have I left out? I don't know so that's all I got.

    • Dallas peaked early, IMO. Maybe not a fair statement as I’m still making my way through the first half of its run, but I think it’s hard to argue to point that S3 into S4 was its high point. Back to Knots. Wrapping up “And Never Brought to Mind.” Greg’s introduction kinda took me by surprise. I low-key dreaded his arrival bc I know he very quickly gets to the center of the show, but even though they wasted no time connecting him with Mac, Abby, Gary, and Karen, it still feels like a gradual intro. The juxtaposition of the ending of the Chip story with the heating up Abby’s plotting is quite symbolic of the changes the show was going through. I absolutely cannot imagine Kenny and Ginger having any part in any of this. Yall, the Gary/Val piano theme that they pull out from time to time is my FAVORITE. I find myself humming it constantly.
    • Bloodshed is inevitable now. It’s another reason I’m glad Black people aren’t getting involved in these protests. As awful as this is, I keep reminding myself that 54 percent of Latino men voted for Trump. These people were put in harm’s way by members of their own communities and sometimes even members of their own families. Too many people decided to touch the stove.
    • Maybe I'm still in denial, but nothing about Neighbours' ongoing social media output gives the vibe of a show that's ending. In today's 'Roundup' video, Alan Fletcher referenced that production finishes in five weeks, but in all the show's posts the cast are as jovial and lighthearted as ever. Remarkably so for people who are about to lose their jobs.    Perhaps they're just putting a brave face on things, and I know they approached the previous axing with a positive attitude. Maybe putting an upbeat face on things is a collective way of showing potential backers that there's still life in the show? Or is it possible that they already know the show has been saved, and we'll get an announcement next month when filming wraps and the show 'rests'?   Does any of that make sense?!
    • A very good week for male eye candy on GH. New Michael is beautiful, Curtis's arms looked great in that polo shirt, Cody looks even more handsome with his new haircut AND we got Marco in swim shorts rocking his lovely bod and chest fur.

    • Yeah when Jamey Giddens did breakdowns for DAYS, he would sometimes state in tweets that specific things were his idea that he had pitched to Ron.
    • I don't, since they've clearly incorporated them into Tomas' storyline, and I happen to like his tattoos, but his jackets not fitting doesn't mean they're trying to cover his tattoos. The clothing overall isn't the issue; it's the fit. And I expect(ed) more from Jeresa Featherstone and her team. Very disappointed. He's the only male, overall, whose costume irritates me.
    • "And OMG, watching the scenes of Roger's return in comparison...the quality in the writing really nosedived. The stupid mask." Very much agreed.  Having Roger hide behind a mask for weeks/months, with it culminating with him swinging in on a vine at Blake/Phillip's wedding....geez.  So juvenile. IMO, Guiding Light never did a good job reintroducing major characters, either from the dead or elsewhere.  Masked balls = awful.  Amish = awful. When Reva was brought back from the dead, she should've just showed up in Springfield as Reva, and informed everyone that she had been gone for years because she felt like it.  She had a four-year fling with some dude who ended up dumping her due to disloyalty. Josh would be pissed and declare that their love is not *always* but *sometimes* and he'd act accordingly.  Her kids would hate her.
