GH: May Discussion Thread

The first and last are interesting to me...but utterly unavailable in every sense, I think.

Vaughan. I really hope it is true that he is recurring on GH. And I really hope Y&R finds some way to bring "Diego" home.

They've now upped the stakes in the Luke pity party to where he hated every moment of living with Lucky, Lesley Lu, and Laura. Is that right? What were all these soccer games with Lucky? Lucky was a mini-Luke, he never did stuff like soccer, he was busier hacking into computers.

If we're going to blatantly rewrite history, can we do things like make Jake Lucky's biological son, and reveal that Georgie and most of the Quartermaines are actually in hiding, not dead.

I was just thinking on my way home from work today that it's like GH doesn't even TRY to pretend they aren't blatantly rewriting history. They have absolutely no shame about it, they pretend things that we physically SAW on-screen just didn't happen or were open to interpretation.

If I have this right, Ethan COULD have been conceived on some jaunt to Singapore where both Luke and Holly weren't certain that they would survive, DURING the time he was happily married to Laura and dealing with things like running his blues club, dealing with Mary Mae Ward, fending off Frank Smith, and that crew, circa 1994 when Lulu was conceived/born?

It's just completely telling viewers who were watching during this time that EVERYTHING we saw was only HALF of what was going on, and there were all these other, much more scandalous and interesting things happening off-screen and it MAY just devalue what you actually saw. Because Luke was only PRETENDING to be happy with Laura while he was REALLY screwing Holly in Singapore.

Why do these things?! I will NEVER understand Guza as a human being... or whatever he is.

Neither do I. I have decided the solution is to stop caring and I have to say that I am almost there. When Luke was going on today about Laura and then Lucky and the non-existent soccer games, instead of becoming enraged, I simply rolled my eyes and changed the channel. There is no point of getting emotionally invested in anything on GH when we are constantly told that nothing we see on the screen even if it happened yesterday mattered or even actually happened. Geary's vacation needs to start like today because I am done with him and Luke for a lifetime.

Michael could pass for Jason's son because, remember, Michael is Jason's biological nephew!!!! Jason's late brother, A.J., is Michael's real dad; so it's not unrealistic that Michael might share eye color or anything else similar to Jason because Jason and A.J. were biological siblings.

Be it half-siblings or whole-siblings; it doesn't matter. Biology is biology, there are lots of instances in which kids actually resemble their uncles, aunts, etc. a lot more than they do their own parents. Just sayin'. And it doesn't matter who the actor was who played A.J. It's all about the characters and Jason and A.J. were biologically connected no matter who the actors are/were portraying them.

Well to keep with history Michael was suppose to have the same hair coloring as his aunt Bobbie. He goes into a coma and comes out of it with blond hair and blue eyes. I can only give credit to Guza for keeping Michael racially the same, unlike when the original Blair (OLTL) was recast. <_<

I am so confused.

A few weeks ago, a spoiler said that

was Ethan's father, but that Traci had switched test results.

Now, today, Ethan was yelling at Holly, saying Robert was his father.

What is the truth? Since only Luke is on canvas, he seems to be the logical daddy. But I guess being Robin's brother anchors him too, if they go that way.

I kind of like brain-damaged Jason as brain-damaged Michael's mentor.

    • Thank you very much for the information!!! All the episodes that person sells are the ones which appear or have appeared in youtube, and some have wrong dates.  Due to that, I guess some people, who have rare and inedite episodes, refuse to upload them in internet, because then, others make money. I hope ABC create a place in the net where we can see all the available episodes they must have, as Retro tv did with the Doctors!!!! Retro tv did an awesome job!!!! Have a look :

    • Dina was Jack, Ashley and Tracy's mom on Y&R.  Joanna was Lauren Fenmore's mother, played by Susan Seaworth-Hayes.
    • The funeral was not onscreen - only the Brooks returning home after the service. Not aware of any available clips.
    • Very very well said!!!

I would only add that Sam Ratcliff is frequently named in regards to certain AW comedic turns.  And, we know from Carolyn Culliton (tweet 2024) that Sam & Gary put their heads together & came up with that gorilla.
    • I knew you would be so excited seeing your girl Brookey as #1!!!! She also WINS as to Frequently Married!!!
    • Yes, Stacy does this both for early DAYS & early GH. I have written some for her, for DAYS. But just one tiny point & that is that she only deals with DVDs. I realize that is not the point of your posting but it seemed the right thing to clarify. I know that you know that video tapes is past, not present.
    • Hahahha I think sleeping with almost all of your daughters's boyfriends and husbands and getting pregnant... definitely gives Brooke the right to top 1 place. Long live the whore of Beverly hills.

    • CurlyQGrl has DVDs of some episodes, that they can sell, but that doesn't matter. What is helpful: they describe the scenes on the tapes, so you can read that as recaps without ordering anything. Doesn't really give storylines, though, which is what you asked for.  Here's the links anyhow. full menu https://www.angelfire.com/tv/curlyqgrl/menu.html GH page https://www.angelfire.com/tv/curlyqgrl/gh/menu.html GH 1960s https://www.angelfire.com/tv/curlyqgrl/gh/eps/gheps1960s.htm
    • I would argue that Another World never played "everything" for laughs. Even when there were comedic scenes in some storylines there were other storylines that were not intended as comedy.  You give 1988 as the end point, and Mary was on the canvas from August 1986 to February 1989, so she must have overlapped with the despised laughs you are referring to at least half of the time she was there. I honestly can't recall any real comedy that Mary would have been part of. I don't think she was lighthearted about choosing between two husbands, MJ's prostitution, Kathleen's death, or even her son Scott dating her daughter Cheryl.  I would have said that the amount of comedy depended on the head writer and there was more comedy under Richard Culliton and Gary Tomlin in 1984 than subsequent headwriters. I guess there was an outbreak of more comedy when Cecile kidnapped Cass from his wedding in 1986, but in general the Sin Stalker wasn't presented as funny, Mitch's return wasn't funny, John's arrival wasn't funny, Reginald wasn't funny. The tone was serious even if the plots verged on the ludicrous. And maybe that's what you mean -- but I would make a distinction between intentional comedy and storylines I can't take seriously for other reasons.
