Acting Police: Soaps’ worst actors

Kristen Alderson most definitely is a talented ingenue, anyone who doesn't see it might wanna rethink calling someone else an idiot. I think Nelson Branco got it right. DAYS needs to fire Molly Burnett. I cannot understand why they want to keep featuring this vapid idiotic Melanie. Hopefully DAYS will send her packing when Max leaves.

Crystal Hunt isn't as bad as Burnett, but OLTL is giving her waaay too much airtime/storyline. Maybe the KED killer will claim Stacy as a victim.

I don't agree about Van. I think he is a far better actor than Jake will ever be. But while I think Jake has improved a little bit he does belong on the list.

I think Cameron Mathison deserves to be on the list. He's terrible and has actually gotten worse as an actor over the years.

Damn straight, they think if anyone has an opinion other than theirs, well, it's just wrong. Their word is gospel.

I think there are others more deserving to be on that list before some of the others. Nelson probably thought that Vail was safe to proclaim as a hair model.

I wonder why Eva Marcille didn't make the list?

TOTALLY disagree with him on Jake Silbermann -- and it's funny that Nelson had Jake on the 'Most Improved Actors' list a few months ago... oh, Nelly boy. You never do let me down.

The personal jab was also completely uncalled for and unprofessional-- anyone that was aboard the RTS Cruise can attest to the fact that Nelson is a two-faced little... oh wait. I don't want to get on his level.

I agree with most of his picks sans Bloom. i tend to hate Vail Bloom when she's prosecuting someone because the writers never give her a justification for going after people she knows.

As for Crystal - I have been reading so much about her performance on OLTL that I had to check her out on YouTube. I'm not a OLTL watcher but I liked the setup for her character (I read about soaps I don't watch, for some odd reason). And I LOVE a good villainess and I saw Hunt on GL when it was tolerable. So I watched the YOuTube clip where she blackmailed Gigi. It was OK. i see what Nelson and the rest are saying. she's very uncomitted in the role and seems to be a little concerned with the audience likes her. I think of my fave villians from the past and they all were fierce and dominating (think early Phyllis, early Sheila, early Sami). But Hunt just doesn't have the balls for such a complex character. But i wouldn't put her in the ranks of the girls who who play Steffy or Daisy or Ashlee. they're truly horrible.

And where's Bryton!? He's pathetic as an actor and don't tell me "he's won an emmy!" - cause so did Justin Torkildson (Rick, B&B). And he was just gross!

Vail Bloom is a decent actress. And hoenstly, its not event hat she is miscast as heather -- heater is misplaced as the ADA.

Molly B has actually become a decent actress herself. i wouldnt say shes great by any means, but she is ok. Now that they have tones Melanie down and given her some layers Molly has improved.

Caitlin Van Zandt and Jacqueline MacInnes Wood are great examples of why this list sucks. The actress' are not bad -- the charcters suck and the storylines are unwatchable.

and Bonnie Dennison ownes this. She is Charity Rehamr status bad.

The only reason why Nelson even mentioned Vail is because Jamey Giddens hates her. Otherwise, he would say nothing. In the week that Jamey said he saw some improvements in Sursok, Nelson immediately said it too.

I agree with whoever said that they share the same brain. They kinda copy stuff off of each other.

    • Eeek. I didn't know this either! I will say, though, even though they skimmed over a lot of Roger's past, I will give them props for not trying to turn him into a hero. Yeah, I was hoping we would get more 1986 episodes than were available on YT before, but now I'm wondering if I really want to see that.
    • That's what Julie Hanan Carruthers is doing for BTG at the new studio in Atlanta, but JHC is credited. And @errol said JHC is working in a nonproduction capacity at Y&R.
    • I remember when the whole Missy Reeves controversy started in 2012.  She tweeted support of a business that had made homophobic statements. Greg Rikaart (who was on Y&R back then) publicly called her out on it, but was willing to reach out and speak with her. Article here: https://greginhollywood.com/greg-rikaart-talks-about-his-twitter-war-with-fellow-soap-star-melissa-reeves-over-anti-gay-chick-fil-a-73139 That being said, ten years later, on DAYS, in 2022, when they had they double wedding of Leo/CraigWesley and Gwen/Xander, Jack and Jennifer came to the wedding.  At that time, Missy Reeves was only intermittently available for DAYS. Jennifer was living "in Boston" and Cady McClain and Missy were each intermittently appearing as Jennifer, on the specific occasions when the show required a Jennifer to appear. Missy wasn't on contract and she could have said no. But she chose to appear as Jennifer for the gay wedding of Greg Rikaart's character.   So... I mean... I would assume they reached a détente behind-the-scenes. Missy still has her belief system but there's that.
    • That was one of the best grandslam finals.  Alcaraz comes all the way back down 2 sets to 0, and three match points in the 3rd set, to win it in a 5th set tie-break.  And the quality of play was excellent - so many great shots.  What a battle!
    • Indeed. I may try to watch it in full sometime, but not anytime soon... Mark played Sean Baxter for a few episodes when Courtney married Andy. Burke was either on Broadway or at OLTL at that time, I suppose.
    • Well, Josh was a horndog. LOL Yep. It was one of the first really weird things Reva did with her PPD. She became obsessed with the idea that Dylan and Sam should get married. Sam was only 17, and needed her parent's permission. Reva helped them leave town so they could go to a neighboring state where Sam was old enough. Ross, Billy and Josh stopped them, then Sam went to India to try and persaude Justin. Reva followed her and didn't tell Josh she was going. While Reva was gone, Josh advertised for nannies, and Harley applied. He ended up hiring someone else. But when Reva returned, she hired Harley because (in her weird mental state) she wanted someone she could trust with the kids (because she feared Josh was trying to get rid of her and that Vanessa wanted the children.). After Reva starts treatment, she asks Harley to stay until she's stronger because she's good with the kids. At the party, Reva starts going off the rails, insulting Justin and Josh hauls her to a private dining room to ask WTF. Reva starts confronting him about the "affair" with Vanessa, and he realizes she is weird. He locks her in the dining room and frees Mindy and Van from the ladies room (where Reva has locked them in). Van starts telling him that Reva attacked her and needs help.  Reva escapes out the window of the dining room and goes back to the party, climbs onto a table and starts a striptease. Josh gets her to stop, takes her home and after filling Ed in, decides to go to the doctor the next day. Reva then takes off and spends days running around town, coming on to a guy she thinks is Billy, Billy, Hamp, Frank and Roger.  Roger takes her to his apartment and takes nude pictures of her, which he tries to blackmail Billy with. He wants the deed to the land the Towers is on in exchange for them. (Billy had been left the deed by a sweet old lady who lost her home in the 5th street fire. Roger had stolen the deed from her before she died. After Roger took those pics of Reva, she saw him hide them, and took an envelope from the hiding place. She didn't realize she'd taken the deed and not the pictures.)  Anyway, Billy and Vanessa trick Roger into burning the pictures, claim the deed and at the Towers opening reveal that Billy owns the land and therefore the Towers. That's what led to Roger and Alex's breakup and Roger and Mindy's affair. Mark Lewis was on ATWT? 1986 is not a good year, storywise. No bueno. Muy no bueno.
    • All the time they spent trying to make viewers feel sorry for Chad only for him to not even last that long. I wonder if they knew Richard Burgi was going so quickly. You're right about Josie replacing Cheryl. On paper, this should have made sense, given all the ties Josie had to the canvas, but I did prefer Cheryl. There was something very synthetic about Alexandra Wilson.  I suppose even if she did have some fans they were just so used to getting rid of people left and right, so she was more collateral damage. As you said above I do wonder what the plans were for Peggy Lazarus. I think AWHP mentioned her once telling Peter that Peggy Lazarus wasn't her real name. Maybe she would have been another Carl moll... Rebecca Hollen never did get her due in her soap roles.
    • So true...Hackney might have had a story on FC with Richard being an old lover of his, but reveals herself to be a Cartel member and blackmails Richard with something into doing her dirty work  LOL. But of course Richard had his hands full with the double trouble sisters Ms. Jones and Ms. Braxton that season.
