Dan, if I'd been posting on this board in 1994, 1996, or 2003-2005, I'd probably have worn out my ##$*&#$(*#@)( keys. Strangely enough, when I watch old GL clips it somehow adds to my opinion of the current show, instead of doing what I expected, making me see the current show as unwatchable. I guess since GL is so close to the end I've realized good or bad GL is an institution and I don't want to be released.

If the reports are true about Jill Lorie Hurst being the main writer now it just shows what GL needed was a headwriter who actually knows and respects the history of the show and has been around long enough to know how to tell a story. All the years of Kreizman, Ellen Weston, Lucky Gold...they wasted so many chances. I'd really like to see GL get that one last chance.

I hope GL can do something about Dylan. Recast and bring him back to either deal with Daisy or leave town with her. I never bought Brian Gaskill in the role, although the show never even tried to make him work.

Sounds good, Rakesh, I can't wait to watch later.

It was really an all around fantastic show today. Other than the one scene with Marina, it was riveting.

Ron Raines, Beth Chamberlain and Crystal Chappell owned today's show. OWNED. Crystal, in particular, was amazing. In one speech she showed 10 years worth of character growth. And like I read today, is putting on a master class in guarded longing.

If this is what we have to look forward to under JLH, then all this show needs is time to regain it's audience.

With the exception of a Marina sighting today, today was pretty damn good.

I can't believe I'm enjying the show again.

I'm not usually into the Coop/Beth story, but today I was. I also noticed that despite the toll everyone has gone under since the new filming technique started, BC has remained sexy as ever, looking almost flawless.

After so many years of Olivia being given the most ludicrous stories possible (weren't there rumors CC even tried to get out of her contract a few years ago), I'm glad they're finally giving her some character-based, constructive material. Olivia is a great character when they try to write for her.

I'm also happy to see viewers get the chance to see a same-sex family, whether that family ends in romance or friendship. With so much fearmongering going on these days, it's something viewers could use a dose of.

Today's episode was just... wow... just... wow...

Everyone was at the top of their game today! Olivia/Doris - great dialogue and needed to be done... I think Olivia finally verbalized her feelings about Natalia without even knowing she was doing it... Doris: "I wish a man would talk about me the way you just talked about her"... it's so freakin' obvious to everyone they talk to about each other!! Okay, almost everyone... there is Frank... but then what is ever been obvious to Frank?!

Ron Raines was really great today.. loved the scenes with him and Beth C. and Justin D. JD played Coop perfectly today, almost made me wish he wasn't leaving the show.. I've always thought of Coop as a tool (he is a Cooper!), but today after Beth broke things off and then the scenes with Buzz at the end.. Perfect.

I really enjoyed Remy and Christina today also... they are really starting to grow on me.. loved them after the guy left and Remy almost kissed her... would love to see Ava come back now.. I'd be hard-pressed to decide which woman I'd want Remy with...

This show would have been sooooooo Emmy-worthy if not for one thing:

Marina. UGH. Is it wrong that I hope she dies in the mountains on this trip with Mallet?!

Oh yeah, and if I wasn't before... I <3 CC/Olivia...

Ain't THAT the truth! When Reva said "I hope Dinah finds a new playmate and leaves my son alone." I nearly busted a gut.

EDIT: BTW Toupsy, let's not bring in that horrid Jon and spoil such a pleasant GL conversation, lmao.

    • I knew you would be so excited seeing your girl Brookey as #1!!!! She also WINS as to Frequently Married!!!
    • Yes, Stacy does this both for early DAYS & early GH. I have written some for her, for DAYS. But just one tiny point & that is that she only deals with DVDs. I realize that is not the point of your posting but it seemed the right thing to clarify. I know that you know that video tapes is past, not present.
    • Hahahha I think sleeping with almost all of your daughters's boyfriends and husbands and getting pregnant... definitely gives Brooke the right to top 1 place. Long live the whore of Beverly hills.

    • CurlyQGrl has DVDs of some episodes, that they can sell, but that doesn't matter. What is helpful: they describe the scenes on the tapes, so you can read that as recaps without ordering anything. Doesn't really give storylines, though, which is what you asked for.  Here's the links anyhow. full menu https://www.angelfire.com/tv/curlyqgrl/menu.html GH page https://www.angelfire.com/tv/curlyqgrl/gh/menu.html GH 1960s https://www.angelfire.com/tv/curlyqgrl/gh/eps/gheps1960s.htm
    • I would argue that Another World never played "everything" for laughs. Even when there were comedic scenes in some storylines there were other storylines that were not intended as comedy.  You give 1988 as the end point, and Mary was on the canvas from August 1986 to February 1989, so she must have overlapped with the despised laughs you are referring to at least half of the time she was there. I honestly can't recall any real comedy that Mary would have been part of. I don't think she was lighthearted about choosing between two husbands, MJ's prostitution, Kathleen's death, or even her son Scott dating her daughter Cheryl.  I would have said that the amount of comedy depended on the head writer and there was more comedy under Richard Culliton and Gary Tomlin in 1984 than subsequent headwriters. I guess there was an outbreak of more comedy when Cecile kidnapped Cass from his wedding in 1986, but in general the Sin Stalker wasn't presented as funny, Mitch's return wasn't funny, John's arrival wasn't funny, Reginald wasn't funny. The tone was serious even if the plots verged on the ludicrous. And maybe that's what you mean -- but I would make a distinction between intentional comedy and storylines I can't take seriously for other reasons.
    • I'm excited for us to get back to a full weeks worth of episodes and also us beginning to move into the episodes filmed once the show premiered. We're already starting to see changes in the lighting and the way certain characters are styled. Of course we know this week we have our first recast as well. After the big Eva reveal, I hope the show continues to move into a positive direction and that we see them starting to fix some of the things we've all had issues with.
    • It seems like they may have been going in one direction for Andre and then changed their mind. He had this player/bachelor thing going at first where he was messing with Dani, seemed to be feeling Eva, and then somehow smitten by bland Ashley of all people. I feel like Ashley was supposed to be the one that finally made him want to be with someone and settle. The way he talked her up in those earlier episodes was really confusing. The wonderful, amazing nurse Ashley and conveniently she's unattainable because she has a partner, but he can't stop thinking of her and takes these busted pics of her. It was a mess. However, it all seems to have been dropped. I honestly feel like Andre can go. That may be an unpopular opinion but I don't need his breathy final syllable to be content with BTG. It's always like "There's gotta be another wh-ahyy"
    • This is where McLaibey falls apart. It becomes clear that McTavish had not thought past Brent/Marion...so the energy drops and she starts throwing things at the wall (Blakes twins, Lonatrat.)   Fans HATED this funeral. Everyone is mad at everyone else, which is fine, the death of a beloved community figure would give people a reason to come together...(Quint and Nola could come together at least for  a bit to support each other, Nola and VAn could finally admit they kinda, sorta like each other) Its just an example of McTavish's mean writing.   I have a feeling they were going to make Dahlia Frank's kid but they chickened out. Making Tina a prostitute didn't help, they could have been lovers when they were young but felt society pressure to part. Marcus took over David's role (you can't have two young black men at that time...)   Get used to it...this will happen, the same storyline over and over until the end.
