But it's a unit that makes Erica boring. It's like they want her to be Ruth Martin, instead of Erica Kane.

An older character who does not need a man to anchor her (though she has many romances) is Dorian Lord from OLTL. But she does have family (and if not, she'll create it). There are other ways than the leftover guy to keep an older woman in stories.

Dorian has neices, which help... daughters, sisters, adoptees... all which keep her grounded. Yet she is still the vixen/villain in most of her stories. It works.

I really really Loved Adam/Erica, and I love Corporate Erica, and I hope the show has not ditched this entirely. The corporate story gave LIFE back to Erica again, and the games with Adam gave it even more oomph. It looks like that story has been dropped, and that is a real shame. Erica at Fusion... heck, it was the first time ever I liked Fusion! Erica was strengthened, Amanda was strengthened (the younger actors are given a boost when they are put in stories with the older actors). It was good stuff.

I'll take THAT Erica over "Jerica" any day.

I think so too..... but I don't see Eden stopping holding AMC hostage anytime soon..... she like probably has the sweetest deal of any daytime actor or someone who left and trying to spread her wings. She can basically say.... ok I need money and they bring her back for some huge storyline. This time however is different because the storyline is not about her :D and I couldn't be more happier about that.

I think Eden Riegel is riding on the fact that she was a straight actress that had the balls to play a high profile lesbian character. Nothing personal about Eden -- I think she's darling and a wonderful actress, but at the same time, she's not this phenomenal wonder who would leave exceedingly big shoes to fill. I think of her scene partner Tamara Braun... she replaced Sarah Brown as GH's Carly, which people thought NEVER could be done. While I feel that Brown's version of Carly has NEVER been matched by Braun, Bransford or Wright, I do feel that Braun did make the role her own. Whether I liked Braun's Carly or not is another story. Braun does have certain nuances and mannerisms that both delight me and irritate me so that colors my opinion a little. But I think that since such a dynamic and layered character like Carly has been able to be recasted successfully two out of three times, Bianca can totally be recasted. Bianca, unfortunately, isn't that layered. She's been written as the ingenue and celibate saint for most of her adult existence. Perish the thought, but Sabine could play Bianca for all I care. The character just isn't that STRONG enough for Eden to have put such a signature on the role that nobody EVER could play Bianca if she were to never return to the role.

That's how I feel, too. Not necessarily that she is purposely holding the show hostage, but I don't see her giving up that luxury. Especially since every time she and Bianca comes back, there's a big soap press blitz surrounding it. And everytime she leaves, Bianca has this huge farewell that lasts a week... While Brooke is still in suspended animation over Simone's grave.

My biggest fear is that AMC has not had the best record with casting of late (i.e. Amanda Baker, Denise Vasi, and the girl that plays Colby) but I do think Bianca can be recast.

I personally would love to see Melissa Fumero given a chance at the role - if they could infuse some of "bitchy bangs" into Bianca - not turn her into bitchy bangs but at least give Bianca juts a little taste of Erica and Kendall and not be a pushover all the time.

Not really sure of any other soap veteran that might fit as Erica's daughter right now.

Bianca could definitely be recast. When a recast doesn't work it's hardly ever the actor's fault... can't blame a talentless model for taking the job. Blame TIIC who pass on the capable actors or cast people totally off base. Eden is lovely, but there are other Biancas out there. And Kendalls for that matter (e.g., Wendy Moniz).

I would say the biggest reason TB worked as a recast Carly was they changed the character to suit her.

I think Bianca could be recast because right now Bianca has already changed so much on this return. Bianca's stories are now about plot more than character. The person playing them is becoming irrelevant.

I happen to like ER so I have no interest in a recast. I came back to the show full time for Binks/Reese and will leave when they do.

But if the show wanted to go that route they should keep Bianca off the canvas for a while and not pull an instant switch like they did with Babe. I think when a character is so identified with an actress, the recast stands a better chance of success if there's a break before they take over a la Kendall.

    • Oh wow that’s pretty awesome! I wish I had  approached him but there was so many people
    • In the current environment, while it's small, there is a crumb of good news: Apparently, San Antonio voted for a DEMOCRATIC mayor, Gina Ortiz, beating the "right-hand man" of Gov. Greg Abbott, former Texas Secretary of State Rolando Pablos. https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/5337199-gina-ortiz-jones-wins-san-antonio/
    • Love this! You are both adorable. Wow
    • I have not gone back to watch much of 1987, but from what I've seen lately, it doesn't feel like the writers or producers had any sort of plan. The show feels as if it's constantly in flux.  I will give it credit for this. It's watchable for the most part minus Lisa/Jamie which I find nearly unwatchable now.   I don't find Cheryl mousy. I think she has a lot of quiet strength, but she was saddled with the Scott romance which the writers did not invest in. She had a good friendship with Julie (also criminally underused), and her interactions with Ada were enjoyable as well. I also like Layman, but Spencer was extremely talented and when Cass returns, Schnetzer and Spencer have some wonderful scenes. Spencer also fits in with Alexander, Hogan, and Marie.  I'd forgotten just how much I missed seeing Wallingford. IT was so good to see him again. Even when they didn't have a major plot, Felicia/Cass/Wallingford/Mitch always brings a smile to my face.
    •   Dani’s cute ass party planner. He gave me some tea but I was so drunk I don’t remember it.
    • NBC must have been grateful to have LHOTP, it's only hit and still strong after several seasons. Their next established show was Rockford Files at 45th. They didn't develop any comedies and relied on movies and mini series  which didnt establish viewer loyalty and habits. Their only new hit was mid season's Project UFO which debuted Feb up against Rhoda/On Our Own on CBS and How the West Was Won on ABC. It opened with a strong 36 share beating CBS and close to ABC as HTWWW had a 36 share over 3 hours. The next week UFO saw a respectable 32 share, then a 31 so it was slipping. A 28 share followed but a few weeks later it jumped back up to a 34. So no blockbuster but compared to what else they had, there was potential, So next season NBC sent it to Thursday up against Mork and The Waltons and it bombed.  They were smart to see potential in Chips, which took off on Saturdaysnext season. ABC was on a roll with Love Boat, 3's Company, Taxi, Eight is Enough adding to their hits. Their only real flops were Redd Foxx and San Pedro Beach Bums, an Aaron Spelling misfire. Like Redd Foxx, Harvey Korman was lured to ABC but his series was a filler that did well but was considered a time slot hit. Nancy Walker and Rob Reiner were also given series on the philosophy that not only were they popular names, their absence from popular shows like Sanford, Rhoda and All in the Family might weaken those shows. CBS were relying on old favorites. Betty White was strong the first few weeks then faded. Incredible Hulk was their strongest newbie. It was lucky for CBS that NBC was doing so badly or else some of their weaker shows would have really suffered.
    • That outfit looks like something Martin would wear lol.
    • Omg not we both ran into people from the show this weekend!
