Okay, just finished watching... um...

Where was this alleged shootout?

Also, can someone please tell me how Angie and Jake think that if they can't LEGALLY get a search warrant from Jesse to rummage through David's place, that anything they find ILLEGALLY via breaking and entering can be used against David?

Now, if this was truly GH, we would've been treated to a five-minute, slow-motion shooting montage set to the tune of some haunting opera melody. Gag!

Anyways, very entertaining show on Friday! It moved quickly, and I liked the courtroom and casino drama. And because I can't say it enough...GOODBYE FETUSBOY!

And...Pratt continues to entertain the hell out of me.

Oh, this fanbase is totally to blame. They don't give a rats ass about the characters unless it involves them in a couple. This is the same group that fought for Josh to be rape twin or unabortion until they were blue in the face because they loved the idea of Erica needing Jack's love and support during that, and it was sure to lead to a reunion.

I will say that it's nice to finally see others seeing in Jerica what I have always seen. He drags her down, sucks the life out of her in his desperate attempts to make her "behave" and live up to her standards. I have never questioned that she loves him and he her, I've always just said that it's a toxic love that nurtures the bad in both characters.

Erica is Erica again. That light and the fire is back in her soul and eyes and I hope it never goes away. And I believe part of that means she can't be with Jack. I hope that Pratt doesn't fold under the pressure of what is quickly turning into a vocal minority.

WORD! As I have stated in previous threads..... based on his writing since he took over Pratt doesn't give one crap about the fanbases..... and doesn't seem to do that never ending song and dance. One of the many reasons I support him as head writer.

I have nothing against the actor walt willey, I'm sure he is a good actor if his character was allowed to show that. I think his fanclub is a blessing and a curse for him. All they want for him is to be with erica, instead of trying to write in for him to get a good storyline of his own progressing his character past being erica's lapdog. I support pratt too, amc for the longest time has been stuck on neutral, he's shaking things up and I like that. The kane family for the longest has been a very tight nit family, with only tragedy after tragedy bring them closer together, I think its time for some angsts for the family as a whole. I'm sick of one them always being injured so I really hope this is the beginning of the end of that repeat storyline. I still say there may be some truth to kendall reverting back to her old ways, I refuse to believe erica would betray kendall as she is now, erica usually doesn't declare war with kendall unless she strikes first.

Delurking, going back a few pages, jumbled thoughts, sorry.

I think Pratt's writing Zach as almost an extension of his basic template for a male character. He put him in the middle of the story with Tamara Braun for no real reason other than Pratt loves Tamara Braun. He has Zach as a cold-blooded killer and a generally miserable presence because this is what he wrote for the leading men on GH. I think this is also why we're getting the constant dark themes with David's character. I don't care about Zach, I never have, but I was a David fan for a long time and yeah I know VI is at least getting better stuff than he got on Y&R and he isn't a small time character like he was when he left AMC, but I can't say I'm enjoying the current story. Even though he's screwing Tad over, which I should enjoy, Tad will win in the end, because Tad always does.

I love Opal, or maybe I just love Jill Larson, who is one of the best actors around, she never phones it in no matter the size of her scene. This is the first time I've seen anyone write for Opal since McTavish's first return, when she finally got Opal away from Palmer and gave her the Adrian story (I know it was a crazy rewrite but I still liked the story). I'm just worried they're only building Opal up so they can kill her off. Killing people off is the AMC default option and it's been getting worse for the past few years.

I hope David Canary is doing alright. Pratt seemed to have major plans for Adam and suddenly they've all disappeared.

I hope Pratt continues to stand his ground, and remember that he fought hard to get Erica back to Erica, to let her go now would be a crime. I hope she stops doing the man dance, though. I'm tired of her being torn between men, pining for a man, trying to get said man's attention. Let her be on her own for awhile. Let her be strong, independent, on her own, doing her own thing. And then a man of Pratt's choosing, can come onto the scene and woo her. Romance her. I'd love to see her be really courted, by a man who falls in love with who she is, not what he wants her to be.

Exactly, I totally agree. I like Jack, when he's away from Erica. I've seen him have real sparks with other women, Brooke and most recently, Anna. He could have his own storyline that was separate of Erica and the Kane's and let us see what the character is really about. Instead, his own fans keep trying to religate him to Erica's purse duty. Personally, I think J&E taking a real break from one another, I'm talking at least a couple of years, would not only do the characters a world of good individually, but as a couple as well. After all, absences makes the heart grow fonder.

And if the J&E fans are so sure that their couple is meant to be together, why not let them be with other people, get it out of their systems and then find their way back to each other, once and for all? Unless of course they're scared that they'd take off in new pairings? Hmmmm.

She had one like that. His name was Mike Roy. ;-)

Remember when AMC would do that sometimes, lol? Sometimes, the couple would find their way back to each other and trying and failing in new relationships (like, Phil & Tara, Chuck & Donna, Cliff & Nina, Mark & Ellen); and sometimes, the couple would split for good, but you could accept it, because it was organic (like, Tom & Brooke, Tad & Hillary, Jeremy & Natalie, Brian & Hayley). Gosh, I miss those days.

Jerica is not destiny, Jerica is Mike Nader screwing himself up and the fans over, leaving Erica with only one true romantic prospect instead of two. We all know that Adam is not meant for Erica romantically, friends perhaps, but those two as a couple is a novelty, not true love. It will become increasingly more difficult to bring on new age appropriate leading men for Erica as we know the industry is ageist. SL is a stunning woman, but she is approaching her mid-60s and I think the show will push Erica more into s/ls involving her children and grandchildren and stray from lost little girl/sex kitten stuff even if she is Erica motha#&^*%$& Kane. Jack is Erica's Mel Bushman (anyone?), her stand by, her go to guy. I don't think there will be too many more Samuel Woodses. Jack has never really been my dude like that, but I kinda blame the show for writing him into an annoying corner waiting for Erica to come around.

Actually, I think Jack would be interesting with a few of the ladies on OLTL. I could see him with Nora, Lindsay, and Dorian...

Yes, he's her Mel Bushman (ah, I love when someone can work in a Golden Girls reference! :D).

I thought Dimitri and Erica were wrecked beyond repair the last time around, this is coming from someone who absolutely adored them together. I was crushed when they broke up. But when Dimitri all but patted Erica on the head, said no big deal that she'd miscarried, they could just adopt...yeah he was dead to me. In fact, I saw a lot of Jack in Dimitri the last time around. Hypocritical, judgmental, and all knowing. Blech, thanks but no thanks.

I was to young to see her with Mike Roy the first time around, and all I saw of them was when he returned in what...1998. They were good. But I couldn't get enough of a feel for them to make any kind of real judgment on who they are. I think David loved her for her, but they were so much alike, I'm not sure it could have ever had a happily ever after type thing. Susan thought so at one point though, so who knows.

Just no more housewife Erica, where Jack is trying to make her behave at every turn.

I think Bad Josh is great. They should wrote Josh as a baddie from the beggining (since McTavish decided to undo the whole abortion thing)...

The Friday episode was great.

The scenes with Krystal on the court were excellent. Bobbie Eakes, Michael E. Knight and Jill Larson were great. On the other hand, Jacob Young was so BAD. I seriously don't know why people praise this actor so much, he's such a bad actor.

Angie/Jake as sidekicks in Wildwind were hillarious.

On the other hand, the drama in the casino was great. I loved the ending with the gunshot and screen goes fade black...WOW. The only thing I don't like is Sonny.. um.. Zach... I loved Zach when I started watching AMC, but now... don't care for him at all.

AND THE MOST IMPORTANT THING was... NO GREENLEE! NO RYAN!! NO AIDAN! THANK YOU SOAP GODS.

IA... Petey was fairly new when Pratt came on, so he hadn't been developed much yet.. but Pratt improved the character and took him in a direction that really works. The actor is good. Showing him with the vets Adam/Opal was just wonderful. Hope we get more Opal/family scenes (I realize JM probably cannot put much, if any, time in these days, but I'm glad for the mentions of Palmer and I'm glad to see Opal used not only as Erica's friend again, but also in a family context.)

Pratt's made a lot of improvements to the structure of the show (esp cast balance) even if some of his storylines are a bit puzzling.

As far as Jerica... I've never been much of a fan. But I was a Travis/Erica fan, so that probably colors my thinking! Jackson was the villain in that story, but he got Erica.

I find Jackson rather dull now. He was good when he had Reggie and Lily. Never liked him as Greenlee's dad (unbelieveable... contrived story), and with Erica? He brings her down. She got her fire back with Adam. Jackson wants her to change, rather than BE Erica. I can do without them.

    • In case it is of interest to anyone here, I have digital copies (computer files, mp4 etc.) of all of the episodes. And, besides having the files they are all up on my usual video hosting site, acct name: shallotpeel, channel it is in: Primetime Soaps and file names like  Flamingo Road S1E15 Hurricane Flamingo Road was a primetime soap on NBC by Lorimar Productions. 2 seasons. 1980-1982. Morgan Fairchild, Barbara Rush. Developed by Rita Lakin.
    • Arguably DAYS OF OUR LIVES has been brilliant lately & definitely was last week. But, here I am with nitpick & technicalities. This was the only misstep but it was just a stupid thing that should have been caught. Deidre Hall as Marlena has this one problematic line, "It didn't matter how many identities you had, I always knew exactly who you were, you were the man who saved my life." - Marlena, DAYS, 6-2-25 Unfortunately the flashback closest to it was when Marlena was on the phone, terrified because she thought he was Stefano. Yes, it's true that the line is not accurate. There were many times when she did not feel the way she is claiming because of whatever was going on in story with his 'retconned to hell & back' identity & origin story. Does it keep the whole week from being called excellent? Nope.

    • I decided this primetime soap deserved it's own thread as the Primetime soaps thread is very cluttered and why shouldn't NBC's Lorimar soap mot have a chance to shine? In doing a deeper dive into the second season ratings I was surprised to see that FR actually had an uptick in the ratings when NBC moved it to 9pm Tuesdays beginning March 82. I'd always assumed this move was a desperate one as NBC were running short of programming and had given up on the show, deciding to let the final episodes play out and be hammered by 3's Company  and CBS Movie. But the numbers paint a different story. In it's 10pm slot up against Hart to Hart, which regularly finished in the Top 20, FL premiered in 53rd place and placed in the 40's and 50's as the season continued. But come January 82 the numbers surged a little now moving into the 40's hitting #43 in Feb. Hart to Hart was #11 Then in March Bret Maverick was moved to 8pm with FR @9. First week 16th March FR #47 15.1/24 3's Company #3 Too Close for Comfort #5 CBS Movie #60 Not great but #2 in it's timeslot March 23 FR #44 15.6/25 3's Company #4 Too Close for Comfort #5 CBS Movie #33 So even with a stronger movie on CBS FR's numbers went up. March 30 FR #31 16.6/26 3's Company #9 Too Close for Comfort #5 CBS Movie #56 Best rating/position yet Tues April 6 pre empted Tues April 14 FR #36 16.0/26 3's Company #5 Too Close for Comfort #11 CBS Movie #59 Maintaining previous week's numbers Tues April 21 FR #33 15.6/24 3's Company #3 Too Close for Comfort #5 CBS Movie #60 Numbers down a little (reflecting general spring downturn) but best ranking of the season so far Tues April 28 FR #35 15.1/23 3's Company #9 Too Close for Comfort #6 CBS Movie #42 Tues May 4 FR #27 15.2/24 3's Company #5 Too Close for Comfort #4 CBS Movie #41 Season finale and highest position of the season. Looking at those numbers I wonder why NBC cancelled the show? They had very few hits and here was a show that was holding it's own and moving up in the rankings in a tougher timeslot. And being a serial, the storylines could continue to build the following season. And I'm sure the desirable W18-49 demo was good. Some might argue that CBS were shower weaker movies, but even so, soap viewers are pretty loyal. I guess Grant Tinker arrived at NBC and wanted a classier look but there was room for FR on the schedule. I mean, the following season Knight Rider,Powers of Matthew Star and the A Team arrived so there was still room for more populist fare. Flamingo could have stayed at 9pm-the replacement Gavilan bombed (surely FR would have done better} or moved back to 10pm. The following Jan NBC had a hit with A Team Tues 8pm. Had Flamingo followed it, it might have really taken off. As it was they tried Bare Essence, which flopped. Oh well,it was not to be...
    • Always, in every way, Cass/Wally/Felicia foundational to my viewing. And, I think if we look at the aftermath of the disastrous 90 minute show that we find too many pockets of some kind of lost time at the show plus way too much of change-ups in exec & writing leadership and of course we also reach the first time it becomes notable that NBC wants to get rid of the show so they can put a new soap they own in the timeslot.
