Yeah, and seemed to be generally well liked.... hopefully it will come back, because nothing was better than watching AMC's two most seasoned actors do their thang. IMO David Canary elevates Susan to levels we haven't seen her achieve in many years.

Of course I don't know it, its just a theory.....

I mean.... Jack and Erica seem to be disliked more than they are liked, online anyway for the most part. There has to be some wing of fans out there or why would they contin ue bringing them back together, and more importantly keep giving Walt Willey contracts?

What does Jack really have connecting him to the canvas anyway after

I know what fanbase you are refering to, but I have to say in all honesty that the writers obvious don't give a damn what they think. Practically every writer has passed on jerica but they have been successful in helping walt keep his job if this was any other show he would of been gone years ago. I really don't think they are going in that direction, because I don't see jackass approving of erica behavior/actions if pratt goes the way I think he will go with erica.

I don't think Pratt is pandering to ANY fanbases, really.

Zendall is CLEARLY in for a shake up.

Jerica is STILL on the outs (unles they bond over dead children)

Adica has not progressed further than flirtation (which, Adam and Erica ALWAYS did well, in addition to their fights; they are good friends/allies)

Ryannie is dead

Rylee... DOA

Grach (friendship or otherwise)- dead and forgotten

The only couples he has given focus to are his: Take and Reeks (who he is doing some crazy ish with!)

I WILL give him credit for making the show more varied, like a real soap (A story, B story and a C story... and various background people comment on the events of one or all of these stories). However, I am NOT liking how he has propped some (Ryass for example) and tore down others (the continued crazy writing for Kendall, now Zach, Josh and Bianca; possibly dismantling the Knae-Slater clan while further distancing the Kane-Montgomery disfunctional family dynamic), but that is JMO.

RE: Grach

I felt there was chemistry and I could accept grudging friendship- but not at Kendall's expense. As a Kendall-fan, I am SICK of them thrusting not only Ryan, but Greenlee into her orbit; ESPECIALLY with Greenlee wanting- yet again- something she has because Greenlee is unhappy and incapable for taking responsibility for her own problems and actions (and I LOVE to hate her- she is an Excellent bitch to Real!Kendall's vixen a la Brooke and Erica: the next generation, family edition... but this Greenlee is NOT it, sorry, but she sucks!). And Earth-Mother-Love!Kendall is interesting, but HELL NO, that is NOT who she is all the time... she is a bitch and schemer with a heart. Both of these women should be complex and NOT dependant on a man! JMO and end of my rant on this. *L*

And THANK YOU! for someone saying that B&E was VERY Zach-biased and was decimating Kendall to do it. And you know what? If they wanted to end Zendall, they should have just allowed Kendall to be herself, not become a doormat and crazy neighborhood meddling shrew! That is about as crazy as Greenlee being sweetness, kindness and light. Just, no! So, perhaps TK is not happy with how his character is being played; I think we all agree with this POV.

Again, JMO

I just wish a writer would settle on something for Erica or I fear she will go the way of Lisa on As The World Turns as she gets older.

They bounced Lisa from man to man all her years on the show and when she would get a rival they usually wrote the rival off so that there was no history even from that point. And none of her men except for Bob had ties to other families in Oakdale for the long haul. So Lisa even though she does have children has very limited ties to Oakdale.

Settling Erica into some type of family unit for the long haul is actually good for the characters longetivity. People talk about Jackson's ties - well Erica's ties are not getting any better. When Binks goes back to Europe and Josh is dead - Erica has Kendall left as far as family. And she is down to 2 ex-husbands now. With Josh gone and Jeff no longer around her ties to the Martins will be gone too.

And Opal is her only friend left now that Myrtle is dead.

If Eden Riegel won't take a long term contract, they may seriously need to reconsider hiring a permanent replacement.

I was not the biggest fan of Erica and Jackson, but at least it tied her to a family unit. Erica is just getting at the age where all the bouncing and forth between men is getting old too.

Why anyone would want to see Jackon religated to holding Erica's purse, while she cheats on him, I don't know. But it's hard for me to believe that Pratt just unPOD'd her, only to put her right back into the Montgomery "good little housewife, who Jack disapproves of" role again.

Oh believe me Kylie, I do not want housewife and matriarch Erica back. Some characters are fit for that. Erica Kane is not.

Erica should be to AMC what Dorian Lord is to OLTL. But sadly the writers keep getting rid of Erica's ties in Pine Valley. All of her rivals that can provide a lot of history are gone as I said above. And slowly the former men in her life that provide some history are leaving too.

If they don't watch it is seriously going to limit the legitimate characters for Erica to relate too.

    • In case it is of interest to anyone here, I have digital copies (computer files, mp4 etc.) of all of the episodes. And, besides having the files they are all up on my usual video hosting site, acct name: shallotpeel, channel it is in: Primetime Soaps and file names like  Flamingo Road S1E15 Hurricane Flamingo Road was a primetime soap on NBC by Lorimar Productions. 2 seasons. 1980-1982. Morgan Fairchild, Barbara Rush. Developed by Rita Lakin.
    • Arguably DAYS OF OUR LIVES has been brilliant lately & definitely was last week. But, here I am with nitpick & technicalities. This was the only misstep but it was just a stupid thing that should have been caught. Deidre Hall as Marlena has this one problematic line, "It didn't matter how many identities you had, I always knew exactly who you were, you were the man who saved my life." - Marlena, DAYS, 6-2-25 Unfortunately the flashback closest to it was when Marlena was on the phone, terrified because she thought he was Stefano. Yes, it's true that the line is not accurate. There were many times when she did not feel the way she is claiming because of whatever was going on in story with his 'retconned to hell & back' identity & origin story. Does it keep the whole week from being called excellent? Nope.

    • I decided this primetime soap deserved it's own thread as the Primetime soaps thread is very cluttered and why shouldn't NBC's Lorimar soap mot have a chance to shine? In doing a deeper dive into the second season ratings I was surprised to see that FR actually had an uptick in the ratings when NBC moved it to 9pm Tuesdays beginning March 82. I'd always assumed this move was a desperate one as NBC were running short of programming and had given up on the show, deciding to let the final episodes play out and be hammered by 3's Company  and CBS Movie. But the numbers paint a different story. In it's 10pm slot up against Hart to Hart, which regularly finished in the Top 20, FL premiered in 53rd place and placed in the 40's and 50's as the season continued. But come January 82 the numbers surged a little now moving into the 40's hitting #43 in Feb. Hart to Hart was #11 Then in March Bret Maverick was moved to 8pm with FR @9. First week 16th March FR #47 15.1/24 3's Company #3 Too Close for Comfort #5 CBS Movie #60 Not great but #2 in it's timeslot March 23 FR #44 15.6/25 3's Company #4 Too Close for Comfort #5 CBS Movie #33 So even with a stronger movie on CBS FR's numbers went up. March 30 FR #31 16.6/26 3's Company #9 Too Close for Comfort #5 CBS Movie #56 Best rating/position yet Tues April 6 pre empted Tues April 14 FR #36 16.0/26 3's Company #5 Too Close for Comfort #11 CBS Movie #59 Maintaining previous week's numbers Tues April 21 FR #33 15.6/24 3's Company #3 Too Close for Comfort #5 CBS Movie #60 Numbers down a little (reflecting general spring downturn) but best ranking of the season so far Tues April 28 FR #35 15.1/23 3's Company #9 Too Close for Comfort #6 CBS Movie #42 Tues May 4 FR #27 15.2/24 3's Company #5 Too Close for Comfort #4 CBS Movie #41 Season finale and highest position of the season. Looking at those numbers I wonder why NBC cancelled the show? They had very few hits and here was a show that was holding it's own and moving up in the rankings in a tougher timeslot. And being a serial, the storylines could continue to build the following season. And I'm sure the desirable W18-49 demo was good. Some might argue that CBS were shower weaker movies, but even so, soap viewers are pretty loyal. I guess Grant Tinker arrived at NBC and wanted a classier look but there was room for FR on the schedule. I mean, the following season Knight Rider,Powers of Matthew Star and the A Team arrived so there was still room for more populist fare. Flamingo could have stayed at 9pm-the replacement Gavilan bombed (surely FR would have done better} or moved back to 10pm. The following Jan NBC had a hit with A Team Tues 8pm. Had Flamingo followed it, it might have really taken off. As it was they tried Bare Essence, which flopped. Oh well,it was not to be...
    • Always, in every way, Cass/Wally/Felicia foundational to my viewing. And, I think if we look at the aftermath of the disastrous 90 minute show that we find too many pockets of some kind of lost time at the show plus way too much of change-ups in exec & writing leadership and of course we also reach the first time it becomes notable that NBC wants to get rid of the show so they can put a new soap they own in the timeslot.

    • And this came out as the "feud" and the media pushing the protests in Los Angeles got all the media attention. They know the press and the public will not care or can be manipulated into approving.
