Not Toups, but I guess NB or someone wrote that Casiello did BOTH his breakdown AND his script! I'm guessing the same is true for Beall.

Once in a while, I guess they'll try this. Ominously, given that this has happened on other shows, might there be reason to suspect that this 'experiment' will eventually lead to the end of the breakdown position at this show too?

They both wrote scripts off their breakdowns.

Yes, he's on contract, but I don't think he'll be doing both regularly like ALB and Lisa Connor because he doesn't have SW experience like ALB/LC.

I don't believe it's an experiment and I don't think it will lead to the end of the BDW position.

But if the show lets him do SW some more, that is a TERRIFIC thing for TC. Since the BDW position is evaporating at many soaps, being able to be hired as a SW (if that is what he wants) opens more doors in the future.

To continue with the tradition to make this thread Y&R heavy... :P

Re: Casiello - I'm extremely annoyed by Nelson Branco's pimping...

What has been so outstanding about his contributions to the show exactly? I mean, he's writing breakdowns for the most part, meaning that many ideas could already come from the headwriters or their associates and the final end product is crafted by the likes of Janice Ferri Esser!?

Not saying that episodes, he was credited for, were a dud (this honor would belong to Lisa Connor...) but others are leaving a far more clear mark on the show. Theresa Zimmerman has been a great addition to the show and she either worked on her flaws she showed on B&B or Y&R is just very good in editing day-to-day/week-to-week contiunuity errors.

AGREED!!!!!!

Many other scriptwriters deserve calling out on some amazing episodes recently, much stronger than last Friday, which was just a good show. Not great. Just fine.

It's extremely unprofessional of Branco (what else is new?), and isn't fair to an entire script writing team.

Or, given the line "Hey, Y&R: if you ever need an errand boy, call me up!", maybe it's a job application? He seems to enjoy spinning yarns and scenarios...maybe he'd like a chance to actually write for one of the soaps, esp. Y&R?
