Evangeline was like my worst ironic nightmare: OLTL finally had a black leading lady like I'd always longed for, but she was absolutely fuckin' insufferable and not that good an actress. It was like the end of a Twilight Zone episode for me - "Oh no! Time enough at last to read, but my glasses are broken! Oh no! The aliens are here "to serve man, " but it's a cookbook!"

ITA. I wanted to like her, and I tried, I really did, but the character and actress were so annoying, that any likable qualities she could have had, disappeared.

Do you know something, Jawn certainly did not help?

No really, I DID like Natalie, but that was 2001 or something. I have not thought about Gary Tomlin's era in awhile.

Does anybody have Youtube of Archer from then? SHE WAS A GREAT BITCH. For real.

You asked me to actually think. So I thought back to Natalie's beginning... And I honestly liked her then. I had totally forgotten.

Evangeline- Oh man. Every Emmy nomination I was like- YOU HAVE GOTO TO BE KIDDING ME.

But again, I only saw her occasionally on Youtube after I stopped watching.. I just remember OLTL being so bland. No identity at all.

Disagree on most- but different strokes for different folks.

But I will admit the identity was completely stale, and same problems persist- with the rotation...people tire quickly of the front burner. force fed stories they aren't interested in, and are told to come back later when this wraps up in a few weeks.

YOU NAILED IT VEE! First of all, OLTL should be ashamed of itself for not having a full african american family- I am talking 5-6 major characters.

Oh, but they did! Her entire family showed up for a couple of days like I was supposed to care! I just bit my knuckle and prayed for RJ!

What! Renee Elise Goldsberry is the [!@#$%^&*]! I never knew so many people didnt care for her. :( We can agree to disagree on that one. She's beautiful, she can act, she can sing and she's easy to fall in love with. The fans, for the most part, dig her big time. :) whooo you learn something new every day. :)

Detroit! Jen deserved that violent death. It was delicious!

Now my GABRIELLE! THAT WAS ABSOLUTELY WRONG. In a toilet stall. Fiona!??

This was Gabrielle Medina, dead in a toilet stall.

I did not watch again for a very long time.

Higley. God.

You know, she must be very happy looking at her DOOL demos... is the show good? Are the fans happy??

In what other industry could you be fired after a few months headwriting a soap, go on and pretty much destroy another, and then be rehired at the same show that fired you after a couple of months??

I hope that show survives though. Hell the demos are better than OLTL's! :(

I totally agree. For me at least, right now, Ron is writing good stories for characters who do nothing for me. I just keep waiting for the good writing to focus on characters I do care about. I feel like it's coming, but it never does. Meanwhile, I keep getting the nuQuad, and very little else. Then it's the teens. Then it's back to the nuQuad. I don't care that much about Vanessa and Cris and Lola, but how am I supposed to when they're on like once every two weeks. I love Jared and Natalie and they have a sweet story, I am enjoying it, but there's so little development. Jessica and Brody are intriguing, but again, they weren't on all this week. Rex and Gigi were just a little bit of relief from Todd and Marty and it seems that was their sole purpose. They did NOTHING!

I find it hard to understand the strategy. If you're not interested in Marty, this week was disposable. I am still hopeful that this too shall pass and we'll get on with the BE story.

LOL! It's not that many and I refuse to weigh in on the topic. There are about five people here discussing and three of them openly claim to not care for her (remember, I didn't weigh in). I will say "the fans" are divided. Some loved her beyond reason, and others hated her beyond reason. Few were neutral. That's a good thing.

Why is it necessary to use really offensive profanity in some of these posts?

I don't know about you, but I stand in the line at the market and endure far worse from idiots talking on their cell phones. I hate foul language, but it's just how some people talk. I don't know what to tell you. I just know that some obnoxious person spewing filthy language on their cell phone isn't enough to make me change lines at the market or stop posting here. I hate lines worse than foul language and I enjoy posting here. I guess if it bothered me enough, I'd stop reading the threads.

Trudi's right. It's just how some people talk. It's my personal belief that words are words, and although some are "harsh and foul", there is a time and place to use them, and a soap opera board, in my opinion, is not a place where I should not not curse, if that makes sense. :)

I'm not a prude, but boy it angers me when I hear people using words they know are offensive to some. This board attracts all ages and types, so why would anyone deliberately want to offend people who view such language as disgusting?

I know that when I signed up for SON years ago, there was a form to fill in if someone is under 13, requiring parental consent because of things like language. I wonder if it still exists. Beats me. The censors come in handy for that point that you just made.

Words are words. I'll die not knowing why some words are designated "bad." It makes no more sense than saying purple, green, and yellow are offensive colors and that anyone who has a car of one of those colors is a rude person.

Beats the [!@#$%^&*] out of me.
