I don't care what some rando on some other forum has to say about the manosphere.

Meanwhile:

Another reminder that the PR mess did not go away for Trump, and that for the most part media has not been able to launder it (nor have they really been willing). Nor did Joe's gaffe even remotely do the same damage.

I've told this story before, but my mom took me to a Maryland Crab Fest or something (maybe VA, maybe DC, I don't know) where Clinton was appearing that year. She tried to get us close enough for me to shake his hand (I was 9 or 10), he was within spitting distance and some lady cut us off! Mom has never forgotten or forgiven.

I do vaguely recall her working the phones on Election Night re: Dukakis. But she's still out canvassing, doorknocking and phonebanking today.

To distract myself from all the doomscrolling, I joyfully discovered that Amazon has the complete series of Xena Warrior Princess.    Awesome!
It's even better than I remember from when it first aired.

But, very annoyingly, each episode begins with an advertisement that Amazon will be hosting its own election coverage with Brian Williams to host.

I just want to focus on strong women!  I don't want to see ads for Bezos' involvement in the election!
Seriously, his newspaper won't endorse a candidate, yet he wants to air election news on his network?  No, just no.

The big pollsters have all reacted to Selzer in different ways - often deferential to her and her numbers, admitting they may well be right, but still digging their heels in claiming their models have done nothing wrong, even as Cohn admitted they have regularly skewed the numbers to distrust any large blue/Dem result against Trump. But it def has the pollsters spooked. Case in point:

Marc E. Elias @marceelias
As we prepare for the week ahead, my law firm is litigating 63 voting and election cases in 22 states. We take our responsibility to our clients, voters and democracy seriously

Marc Elias is protecting voters. He's on Kamala's team.

Wouldn't it be amazing if this ended up being a slam dunk for Kamala?

Some of the billionaires on Trump's side are really pissing me off. Bill Ackman for example. He's out there suggesting that Democrats are going to take people's children because of that Peanut the squirrel incident.

He's not crazy either, so he doesn't have that excuse. He's just outright lying and trying to scare people.

I for one am all for them spending their final hours of this election cycle on Peanut the squirrel (and Trump fantasizing about an imaginary meeting between Mike Lindell and Al Capone, apparently).

I have felt for some time now this election would not be close. Now I am wondering if (though yet not expecting) it may be something more.

    • Garneau was in the Liberal party and his riding was in Montreal. He was the first Canadian in outer space.
    • I agree. I really have enjoyed this story from the beginning. I feel like it needed the time for us to care about Doug. They've done a nice job of explaining his motives and making me care for him. I still feel like he's doomed and Vanessa will end up being a widow and now I'm invested in that *not* happening now that I've fallen for him. Friday was good but so was the entire week. I think they're doing such a nice job of keeping things moving. We got good movement with Bill's story this week, Chelsea is attempting to date, Andre and Dani are having tough conversations about their relationship, of course Anita reunited with Sharon. There is *so* much going on and I didn't even cover all of it.  I wish all of the soaps would take a page out of BTG book and start rotating their stories. I love that everybody is getting a chance to shine and they don't just sit on one lead story to the point you get sick of it.
    • Did Jordan Clarke have a departure sometime between 1985 and 1989? I know Robert Newman had three runs: 1981-1984, 1986-1991, 1993-end.
    • Well, they usually weren't on the show at the time for long until the late 90's. But yeah, they really deserved a story centered on them, and not through the lens of Reva.
    • Chelsea was doing the absolute most today! Why was she introducing her sister to a woman she doesnt know? That whole scene was embarrassing. Madison needs to stay away from her bc she is too immature
    • Gosh, what a waste with Lunacy. Why have her live with $B, reveal Finn, pardon her, etc What makes this story incredibly hollow is that what Luna is asking isn't unreasonable - to spend time with her cousin father. She's not asking to move in with them. How hard with it be for Finn to throw her a bone by, say, I'll meet you for lunch/coffee once at week at the hospital cafeteria. Lunacy isn't going to hurt Finn. In fact, all her crimes were related to finding her father and it turns out to be someone she's loved her entire life. Instead of course-correcting the nonsense of last summer, Brad somehow found a way to make this worse! That's a skill... Of all the younger actors B&B has cast during the past 5 years, LY has shown the most growth and range. Why get rid of her?
    • On the subject of sets (seems more interesting to discuss than the actual show)  Some sets we don't see anymore Lauren/Michael apartment (haven't seen that in years) Victoria's house (are Marian/Tessa living there?) Apartment above Crimson Lights (I think Chelsea was the last resident) Penthouse (Lily's home) Chancellor Estate (Devon/Abby) Chancellor office (once Dark Horse) Nick's house GCAC room (used as residence/hotel room for several characters) Some of these may pop up again. The tack house, for example, was not seen for many months before being used again. Have I missed anything?
    • Thanks for searching through everything. Worked on them so long, just too lazy to check for those links myself, so I am glad you chose to do it! I guess I never did type out anything for 1973-1977 in regards to the preemptions, but they are on the charts at least (and this far back, they don't seem to do any of those "breakouts" anymore, so things are simpler in the 1970's, so eventually I could type those out).
    • I dump on the Y&R sets problem all the time, but BOLD is no better -- and they're not even introducing new sets. All of their sets are years old, and very few look like they're inhabited by people with money. Is that going to change with this move? I'd rather they save the money spent on another remote, which is no better than an HGTV travelogue, and get some new/better sets.
    • The donut posts here make up for a Friday show that was barely meh. Aside from seeing Anna, I really didn't care much about anything else. While I understand the thought behind breaking up all the sadness with "other scenes," I'd rather they moved right to John's funeral. Instead of hearing a stupid story about John changing some minor character's tire 20 years ago, just move on to the crying. I also thought the Chad and Cat scenes were a waste. I realize not everyone is devastated by John's death to the point of not functioning, but going sky diving is a choice. By the way, Jack and Jennifer are giving me nothing on this return. Please leave asap. DAYS did such a great job with John's death, so ending the week this way was a letdown.
