Ah! That's right! I do remember the mainstream media (MSM) mentioning 13 justices. How many federal judges did Trump appoint under his 4-year term? During his 4-years, it seems to me that it was working in Mitch McConnell and the GOP's favor. Sure, the GOP wants as many seats in the legislative branch, but strategizing the justices they want in the judicial branch is something that they've been trying to work on for quite sometime. Indeed, it is a crooked court. There's no "balance" in it if that makes sense.

More embarrassing cowering from McConnell and his loathsome flacks (one of the others, Matt Whitlock, is still pushing the "vegetable" attack against John Fetterman). He was foolish to go out there and trash these candidates in the first place. Now he just looks spineless.

Kevin McCarthy isn't long for power either way. He has no charisma, no backbone, and will be seen as the main enemy if he is Speaker and doesn't call for all Democrats to be lined up in the street and shot. He's a loser in every way, just like his old cronies Paul Ryan and Eric Cantor.

Unless Georgia reverts to Republicans excelling in runoffs (very possible), Georgia's runoff system may help keep Warnock's chances viable (although the closer Kemp gets to avoiding a runoff the warier I am as that will also benefit Walker). I've tried not to go near some of the circle jerking on Twitter about how Walker can't win. He is in many ways a perfect candidate for the state, ticking boxes of diversity while being a brain dead right wing stooge. It took a lot of breaks in 2020-1 for Warnock and Ossoff to win - awful opponents who could not hide behind any football glory (Kelly Loeffler may have been one of the worst candidates in years and years), Biden's team investing heavily in Georgia, the stupid decision  by McConnell to not allow more stimulus checks, and finally, high-profile Trump supporters outright telling Georgia Republicans to not vote in the runoff.

Warnock is a very strong senator and candidate, and as you said, a candidate for the future, so I'm really hoping he has a good shot.  There are too many shaky races (NH, NV) and if Georgia goes the most we may get is more 50-50 (and that's mostly down to Oz because I have little to no faith in Fetterman).

I don't agree with the people who are claiming that Democrats are only doing well in special elections because of the level of intensity they bring compared to a midterm, but I do have my worries about just how November might go. I am just trying to remind myself of how unreliable polling is, good or bad, and try to find a reason to get through each day.

I don't think it is at all a sure thing we can hold through the midterms. Incumbents almost always lose a majority in midterms. But the fact that it's this close is encouraging and not normal, it's based on a variety of recent surprise factors both positive (good bills, etc) and terrible (gun violence, Dobbs). If we can hold the majorities - and I think it's possible - that'll be amazing. But I am not counting on it. I do have some hope for it, which is more than I had a while ago.

And I will say that just like 2020-21 and the runoffs, the longer Trump keeps making it about him the better it is for our chances.

    • Dallas peaked early, IMO. Maybe not a fair statement as I’m still making my way through the first half of its run, but I think it’s hard to argue to point that S3 into S4 was its high point. Back to Knots. Wrapping up “And Never Brought to Mind.” Greg’s introduction kinda took me by surprise. I low-key dreaded his arrival bc I know he very quickly gets to the center of the show, but even though they wasted no time connecting him with Mac, Abby, Gary, and Karen, it still feels like a gradual intro. The juxtaposition of the ending of the Chip story with the heating up Abby’s plotting is quite symbolic of the changes the show was going through. I absolutely cannot imagine Kenny and Ginger having any part in any of this. Yall, the Gary/Val piano theme that they pull out from time to time is my FAVORITE. I find myself humming it constantly.
    • Bloodshed is inevitable now. It’s another reason I’m glad Black people aren’t getting involved in these protests. As awful as this is, I keep reminding myself that 54 percent of Latino men voted for Trump. These people were put in harm’s way by members of their own communities and sometimes even members of their own families. Too many people decided to touch the stove.
    • Maybe I'm still in denial, but nothing about Neighbours' ongoing social media output gives the vibe of a show that's ending. In today's 'Roundup' video, Alan Fletcher referenced that production finishes in five weeks, but in all the show's posts the cast are as jovial and lighthearted as ever. Remarkably so for people who are about to lose their jobs.    Perhaps they're just putting a brave face on things, and I know they approached the previous axing with a positive attitude. Maybe putting an upbeat face on things is a collective way of showing potential backers that there's still life in the show? Or is it possible that they already know the show has been saved, and we'll get an announcement next month when filming wraps and the show 'rests'?   Does any of that make sense?!
    • A very good week for male eye candy on GH. New Michael is beautiful, Curtis's arms looked great in that polo shirt, Cody looks even more handsome with his new haircut AND we got Marco in swim shorts rocking his lovely bod and chest fur.

    • Yeah when Jamey Giddens did breakdowns for DAYS, he would sometimes state in tweets that specific things were his idea that he had pitched to Ron.
    • I don't, since they've clearly incorporated them into Tomas' storyline, and I happen to like his tattoos, but his jackets not fitting doesn't mean they're trying to cover his tattoos. The clothing overall isn't the issue; it's the fit. And I expect(ed) more from Jeresa Featherstone and her team. Very disappointed. He's the only male, overall, whose costume irritates me.
    • "And OMG, watching the scenes of Roger's return in comparison...the quality in the writing really nosedived. The stupid mask." Very much agreed.  Having Roger hide behind a mask for weeks/months, with it culminating with him swinging in on a vine at Blake/Phillip's wedding....geez.  So juvenile. IMO, Guiding Light never did a good job reintroducing major characters, either from the dead or elsewhere.  Masked balls = awful.  Amish = awful. When Reva was brought back from the dead, she should've just showed up in Springfield as Reva, and informed everyone that she had been gone for years because she felt like it.  She had a four-year fling with some dude who ended up dumping her due to disloyalty. Josh would be pissed and declare that their love is not *always* but *sometimes* and he'd act accordingly.  Her kids would hate her.
    • Agreed. The Emmys next year are gonna be a pretty tough competition and I hope we get a Days sweep lol  Not only does Deidre deserve a nomination for these last few weeks, but I also think Paul Telfer, Raven Bowens, Carson Boatman, Dan Feuerriegel and Alison Sweeney have good chances as well.
    • It’s not about a lack of faith and trust in MVJ, it’s about a a lack of faith and trust in Ron Carlivati, who I think can be very sneaky and manipulative when he wants to be.  And, all that “He’s just a breakdown writer” talk never changed my mind about anything, because at Days, it was “just a breakdown writer” that gave us some of the worst episodes I’ve ever seen.
