I've made Frank Pentangeli/Godfather II jokes about this administration, but somehow Stone adopted that worldview in complete earnest:

Ahead of the Rose Garden presser, Trump has blinked:

Pelosi knows exactly how to work him psychologically:

Earlier:

On a side note while we wait for Trump to stop dragging his feet and come out and take his medicine (or declare martial law instead -who knows?):

Pelosi knows exactly how to work him psychologically. She knows he has deep psychosexual issues with women as well as an obsessive need for performative behavior mixed with a pathological avoidance of direct confrontation.

She did not posture like this in the 2000s when the Democrats retook Congress under Bush. She is adapting to his framework to break him, and neither he nor his people will forget listening to her emasculate him every time a microphone is in front of her. That leaves a psychic toll for his followers. Eventually they get tired of feeling bad/cuckolded. They will go where power is, and power is leaving Trump.

@Vee that's a really good description of Pelosi and her tactics.

She gets a lot of hate, but she gets things done. Without her I don't know if the Democrats would have held firm.

I won't believe anything until the signature is on the paper but I'm glad we're finally moving somewhere.

That it's come to this is completely insane. It terrifies me to think of the sheer military power this government has when our leader and a good chunk of Congress are unfit to rule. I wouldn't put these megalomaniacs in charge of an island the size of Catalina never mind a country with the military might that we have. God save us all until we can get rid of this man and those that allow him to continue to hold power. How Mitch McConnell lives with himself, I don't know.

There is a very good profile of McConnell in the NYT this week. Basically, he still seems like a total enigma and mostly opaque personality - it seems as though the only thing he cares about is the utilization and consolidation of power, and most of all that history will view him devoid of context and entirely in terms of his skill and focus. (The one note that seems to get slightly under his skin is the idea that Trump would get credit for his achievements.) I don't know if that's a sociopath, but it's definitely something bizarre.

I feel very lucky that we won the midterms and that she is Speaker. Who knows what will happen long term, but I don't think there is anyone who could handle him better than she is doing. He may blow us all to hell anyway, but at least someone is treating him like the narcissist that he is and standing up to him.

fascinating how having one of your closest friends and top campaign aides arrested in the early morning dawn after having been linked to you makes you open a government that should never have been closed over a wall.....maybe the same wall your son and yourself will try to escape through when you both are sent to prison (no wonder he wanted slats).

    • Actually that is not what happened. Nor is the timing right for it to have been. We learned from a WOST interview with Pete Lemay  in 2006, which can be found on YT, that it was Fred Silverman's idea to do the 90 minute show. I don't know how much you know about him but he had these amazing successes as head of daytime at both ABC & at CBS. Then he came to NBC where basically everything he touched turned NOT TO GOLD but to shite. Some of the most expensive shows ever produced up to that time were huge flops. Although even he, like a broken clock, could be right on occasion. However, as we know, he was not right about the 90 minute show. As a matter of fact, afterward,  NBC programmers, who worked FOR him, were asked why they did it & they were quoted as saying it was because they couldn't think of anything else to try. It was a stupid idea from a man who had reached the point where he was throwing anything at the wall to see if it would stick.

    • I stopped watching Another World in 1990. Simply, lost interest in the show.  I had watched the show from 1973 to 1990. The 90 minute show started the decline of AW.  NBC panicked with expanding AW due to the GH hoopla. As mentioned above, 1982 was a trainwreck for AW.  The introduction of the Shea family, the movie storyline involving Jamie, and Steve Frame favoring Rachel over Alice. The writers went into that direction due to the forgettable performance of Linda Borgeson.

    • Ive seen that theory thrown out but the one thing against it is that Leslie and her family lived in Chicago. She only came back to DC last year after her husband died. Unless they say Alan made a trip to DC and died while away, she wouldnt know about that. However I do think the angle of her finding out that Martin was involved could work as that gives her leverage against Bill too for covering it up. She'd want to get revenge on him by threatening to have him disbarred
    • What a good write-up @Errol! Nice seeing the nod to Duplaix's lead.

    • And, to me it is a little bit hilarious that AW fans all over continue to refer to it as Egyptian Dust Recently elsewhere I've been running polls. When did you stop watching AW or What storyline caused you to stop watching AW. You may be interested to know that sticking it out till the bitter end is winning by a landslide. Next highest vote getter is - no surprise - Frankie's murder. So that covers like 60% & next 20%. Then the votes drop way down to 10% and well below but a wide array of reasons are given, including but not limited to  Justine Lumina Rachel having twins at her age, how ridiculous Mac's death the 90 minute show firing JC, George R & Dwyer Hmm, I know there are a few more, in the 1%-3% range but I cannot think of what they are. Sorry, my bad. Should have made notes but I didn't know I would be posting about it. LOL!!
