Y&R Actor out

We already knew Abby was being recast, but the Ricky thing is just a rumour.

Schmidt gone, oh well. He wasn't in the role long enough for most people to care. I'm sure the new casting director will do a much better job at casting these roles, than Latham's pet dog, I mean Karen Rea.

This is the perfect time to bring back little Nate IMO.

The thing is, Nate is older than Lily, Colleen, and Daniel. It would be so weird to see him playing a teen, and Lily, Colleen, and Daniel older than him. But this is a soap, stranger s-hit has happened.

The actor who last played Nate is 17, so in real time, the character is still in high school too.

The shows own fault for not contracting him, he would have been locked in place if he had been. That being said, I echo the fact that he was a very good young talent. I hate how quickly the young talent changes on soaps. I guess it is because so many see it as a training ground. I guess in terms of job security, life on a soap is not what it used to be either. That is especially true for the young teens, which are prone to rapid aging at any moment.

I hope they hold off on the Abby recast. I think Darcy is just as cute as a button, and an institution within herself on the show. I love how Eric Braeden just melts around her. I don't want to loose that dynamic quiet yet.

Once again, it looks like the cart got before the horse with "scoops"...

Video update from Kevin

Looks like they did shoot the pilot already and don't know if it's going to be picked up.

Also talks about romance and things to come for Noah, so the so-called "recast in the works" didn't happen. To me, it sounds like no decision has been made yet.

To me it sounds like he's here unless his other gig gets picked up. And, with all the publicity that pilot got...and the fact that it is Bertinelli for TBS...I think it will get picked up.

There's an article in the new SID where Kevin is quoted saying he's not going anywhere, the show has not been picked up and they don't know the answer, and he's thinking he'd be able to do both since they are both owned by Sony.

LOVE people and their "sources."

According to TV Guide, Bertinelli's show HAS been picked up. I wonder if this means Schmidt is staying or going? I want him to stay at Y&R

Source is here:

Nothing is off limits for William Shatner's Raw Nerve, a new talk show (premieres Tuesday, at 10 pm/ET on Bio) that aims to dig up dirt on celebrity guests and touch upon the skeletons that may be in their closets.

And needless to say, Shatner jumped at the chance to dig into the tumultuous life of America's sweetheart and former Mrs. Eddie Van Halen — Valerie Bertinelli.

[snip]

Tune in to what else Bertinelli — who will star in a new, untitled TBS sitcom, and make a guest appearance on Shatner's Boston Legal — has to reveal about her divorce, addiction and belief in the afterlife.

Sorry to bump, but I guess this TBS pilot never happened.

First, the old news that most of us probably heard a while ago: Schmidt has reportedly done a live-action Cartoon Network pilot (in Toronto) that I think was picked up.

a new live-action series from Cartoon Network called “Unnatural History” according to the Hollywood Reporter. The show centers on a high school student (Kevin G. Schmidt) with exceptional skills acquired through years of globe-trotting with his anthropologist parents. He and his smooth-talking cousin (Jordan Gavaris) find themselves wrapped up in mysteries revolving around the national museum. Mike Werb created the series for Warner Horizon TV.

Meanwhile, Bertinelli is apparently also moving on:

TV Land has tapped sitcom veterans Valerie Bertinelli ("One Day at a Time"), Jane Leeves ("Frasier"), Wendie Malick ("Just Shoot Me") and Betty White ("The Golden Girls") to star in its comedy pilot "Hot in Cleveland."

Written by "Frasier" alum Suzanne Martin, "Hot" revolves around three eccentric fortysomething best friends from L.A. (Bertinelli, Leeves, Malick) who wind up stuck in Cleveland and decide to stay there when they realize the locals consider them glamorous.

White plays a grumpy and opinionated lady who has lived in the cottage of the trio's Cleveland house for 50 years.

"Hot," from Sean Hayes' Hazy Mills Prods., is one of TV Land's first two pilots, along with the comedy "Retired at 35," which is toplined by Malick's "Shoot Me" co-star George Segal.

Of course, these gigs point to the rebranding of both Cartoon Network (Schmidt's not doing a cartoon) and TVLand (Bertinelli is not doing a classic show). Kinda like Soapnet....

TV Land hasn't been all that into classic TV in a long time, so I'm not sure it's really rebranding. I haven't sat through most of that channel, or Nick at Nite, in eons.

Hot in Cleveland could go either way because it has a fabulous cast. Not sure about Valerie Bertenelli since I haven't seen her act in a LONG time...but White, Malick and Leeves are all premiere comedic actresses.
