With the news that Olivia is returning to the show and the ongoing discussion re Victoria Rowell's(Dru) coming back,my thoughts turned to Malcolm.

Should Malcolm be recast?.He is Neil's brother , Olivia's ex and Lily's father.

Shemar is firmly entrenched in primetime and even when Criminal Minds is cancelled down the road,he is unlikely to return.

Is the role one of those that couldn't be replaced or is Malcolm too important to be offscreen?Or do you think the character is not needed?

Any ideas who could take over?

Shermar was hot and very identified in the role of Malcolm. Anybody recast in the role would find it difficult to live up to the role. And the physical aspect would be the very first thing people would be comparing.

I say bring back the Barber sisters but then bring an AA male who is not a Winters man. The jumping between the Barbers and winters became scarily reminiscent of B&B after a while. I personally would love some dynamic Alpha male (a little like Ji Min Kim in personality) who, say, Olivia really likes but Dru despises.

I do think it's possible to recast Malcolm, but it would be very difficult. I loved Shemar as Malcolm. His chemistry with Stafford was AWESOME! Always LOVED Phyllis and Malcolm's friendship.

I would welcome a recast. I think it's necessary. Why isn't Malcolm in town trying to bond with Lily? It's long past time that story was told, there is so much conflict there waiting to happen.

I never really liked Malcolm becoming Lily's father... maybe that's why I don't want a recast so eagerly.. lol

They should re-cast in theory but it seems doomed to bomb from the begining. It's sort of like Vanessa Marcil on GH.

I would accept a recast. But, I loved Shemar.

I would rather they just bring on a new character in a similar style as Malcolm. But a good recast, why not, Shemar ain't coming back.

Sorry. I was just shy about throwing out that idea. But, yeah. I'll say it for real this time. Tim Stickney would rock the hell out of the role of Malcolm.

I'd rather they bring in a new, sexy black Alpha male with no ties to the Winters.

Still, if Liv returns and Nate as well, then recast Malcolm. Shemar was love but not irreplaceable.

Shemar (which I love) has been gone from the canvas long enough that I think it'd be okay to recast at this point, as long as the recast can ACT!
