Draper/April's house was in Oakdale (later sold to "Kirk" & Emily during the amnesia story). And when Jody came to town, it was said that she was raised in Springfield.

Raven is a force of nature... And Nola... boy, oh, boy... The show will not be the same after Kim departs... I have very little episodes left before that happens! And I will miss her. Sooo much. She is my current wallpaper actually. I adore this woman.

Have no fear!! Nola Madison will "thank the Academy, my producer, my director, and all the Little People in the Audience who made my performance in Mansion of the Damned so ENCHANTING", before she sweeps off the screen like Norma Desmond in Sunset Blvd.   (It's an especially memorable farewell to an especially memorable character.)

I feel like at the time there was a bit more restrictions about talking about characters belonging to a real life agency, involved with real world politics etc. But that's just my guess.

I agree, the culture of nationalism during the Reagan Era would have frowned upon US spies who working were against the government's interest. Which is why he got the CEA, the WSB, and the ISA on various soaps in the 1980s.

Now that you all framed it that way, it now makes sense. I just kept watching each episode and kept wondering why they just didn't put them in the real organizations they were referencing, but now I get it. Thank you both!

Variety reported June 79 that Dennis Parker (Derek) tested for a leading role in 'Can't Stop the Music' at that point titled 'Discoland Where The Music Never Stops'

Parker was involved with Jacques Morali, who was behind the Village People and produced Dennis' album 'Like An Eagle'

So maybe Jacques pushed for Dennis to get an audition? Seems likely.

The Rialto Report (warning - NSFW site) profile on Dennis talked about this. Henri Belolo (EP on Dennis' "Like an Eagle" song) claimed that Jacques really wanted him to be in the movie, but Allan Carr refused. Henri believed that due to Allan's desires for young men, he was jealous of all the attention Dennis got. Jacques and Allan had a huge fight which Henri had to mediate. Ultimately Dennis wasn't in the film, although he was included in the promotion and premiere parties.

One of Dennis' friends said Dennis told him Jacques had decided not to include him as a member of The Village People because he wanted to launch him as a solo star. Dennis himself was more ambivalent about the whole thing.

Absolutely. I'm so glad someone did as full a profile as we're likely to get while some involved are still alive. He led a fascinating life.

I have been binge-watching Nora Fulton's arc and while Nora is a gnat and there are tons of plot holes, the story is entertaining. But I think it is painfully obvious that Cameron is going to be the one to murder Nora as she overheard his phone conversation and he doesn't appear to be a long-term character.

I think I kind of figured it out too because I am also starting to watch the Isis building arc and the most obvious suspects (Miles, Sky, Mitzi, Preacher, Gunther) are running amok and Nicole is dead.

But back to the Nora Fulton story, I never understood why Gunther didn't weasel the truth about Nora being pregnant out of Miles. She did lie and say Miles was her doctor. He should've just gotten confirmation from him. And I guess I can wait and see when the episodes of uploaded eventually, but does Barbara survive the attack by Preacher? And it is kind of icky how he assaulted Barbara (I assume he did), and then goes on to be made the show's young male lead. But I guess we can thank the success of Luke on GH for that trend...

    • There are no dumb questions here, we've all known each other long enough to fill in information without shaming each other.  We want you to be happy @carolineg.  Your POV as one of the few women here is vital. So, please, I hope you never feel as if any question, idea, or opinion is ever silly or stupid.  Your daily reminders about the realities of manicure and menstrual management has become a part of the personality of this thread. As for Hank, while I'm confident there's a plan in place.  It is frustrating that they announce these casting so far in advance that it is tough as an audience and wait it out until the thing happens.  I'm happy they didn't blow it the second Mike was in town, a week after meeting Liam. So, it is a slow burn.
    • I think his full name is Chadwick.  I remember, back when the previous actor was playing him, someone called him Chadwick a couple of times.  It may have been Stefano.
    • I didn't like those two sleeping together, but I suuure liked seeing BF in them. Wiggle and all. Just sad about the waxing of the chest.   Same.
    • It’s strange. I wonder if the writers at that time had worked with him somewhere else and had a relationship? That time is murky AF to find info on. Rachel Ames in effect left the show at one point in the early 80’s and she is credited like she was there until JFP. Tristan Rogers also took various contract breaks that were not short, and websites also credit him one long stint from 1981-1992. So many people come and go in short succession in 1982-part of 1983. I know they lost a lot of viewers when Genie left, but the show somehow survived yearly at number one through like sheer force of will.
    • In that way, at least we were fortunate.  The Daniel Pilon/Ron Raines decisions...not so much.
    • Letting Brennan put it in yet again while smirking over his shoulder... any day now! She's got him just where she wants him! I do think ol' Jack will be dead by February at the absolute latest. They have set him up as a counter-heavy to Sidwell, forcing poor Joss to work his next scheme or threatening to have her sent down for treason. Once he croaks I still deeply fear we will be subject to Valentin and Carly, partners in crime to lovers, possibly out to find out 'who killed Jack'. Anna was at her best keeping Sonny at arm's length and often somewhat cold, which she only really did (for better or worse) off and on during Carlivati's tenure. But Finola gradually got too emotional over Sonny, Jason, etc. and was allowed to do that onscreen too much long ago. Mulcahey brought some of that steel back, though Finola still managed to choke or quietly sob through some of that material as Anna found her way there lol. She's a brilliant actress and she did a good job with that stuff in '24, but now we're back to the same old and it humiliates the character whether she knows it or not.
    • Listen, I am all for Laura Wright wearing silly wigs and glasses if there was a point.  So far she's just been nice to Brennan and made out with him.  How evil lol!!  Even though I have been told Brennan loves her the writing was never there.  It's so low stakes.  Carly should maybe talk to her daughter and have an adult conversation instead. Laura and Anna look foolish.  I really don't have an issue with either being friendly or at least having some affection for Sonny.  I don't get both of them wanting to have a parade to announce how much they love him and how valuable the friendship is.  C'mon, Laura basically tolerated Sonny because of Luke until Lulu/Dante got together.  Anna likes Sonny because Robin did?  There really isn't much more of a reason for Anna to give him the time of day besides that.  They aren't lifelong buddies.
    • It is so dumb and is dragging on already after a couple weeks. By the time Carly wraps this up Joss will be running the local branch office. And yes, Laura deserves better. It's like they tripled down on this Sonny apologia stuff with her and Anna after the Mulcahey saga.
