Don't they usually go dark during those hiatuses? Maybe things have changed now, but I seem to remember that they would work extra during the weeks just before the hiatus to get enough episodes in the can that they could shut down production completely during the break and then resume afterwards. Then again, they got a little burned by that practice last year when Susan Flannery extended her time off after the hiatus for health reasons, so they had to rewrite and reshoot parts of episodes they filmed before the break to adjust for Stephanie's sudden absence.

I'm not sure if it's just her trying to toe the company line and put on a smiling face for the public, but Lesley-Anne has said she likes the fact that Jackie is on the back-burner right now. Still, it would be nice to have TPTB pick up the threads of the seeds they planted when Jackie convinced Nick to fund her buying Spectra, since they dropped that story big time, even though that was all about the fashion that's supposed to be at the core of B&B.

Now that's interesting, and a little contradictory. Anyone remember the publicized stuff over her quitting, last time her contract was up for renewal, and all that hoo-ha over her dressing room? TPTB wanted to drop LAD to recurring, but she didn't want that. She was pretty vexed over her backburner status, and threatened to walk. TPTB didn't want to lose her, so they promised her a major story, which has yet to materialize. I'll bet these issues will raise their ugly head again, at the end of the year, when her contract is up for renewal (I think January, to be precise). Any supposed happiness regarding her status, is probably for the public eye.

Interestingly, I had heard back in May/June that Jackie, was supposed to get a storyline all of her own, but it seems to have been nixed. :( It would be a shame to loose her, but she's not really here anyway.

Yeah, I don't buy it either. LAD was furious when they suggested recurring. So furious in fact that she left the meeting with her lawyer and agent, walked into her dressing room and started packing. The 'major story' for Jackie was likely her purchase of Spectra, which is still a good story and could still work and be good for the long term...but it seems Brad isn't all that interested which is just ridiculous. B&B needs a fashion storyline desperately. I really hope LAD stays on.

Yes, I remember it, which is why I was a bit surprised to read the comments fairly recently where she thanked all her fans for their show of support - I believe there was a petition via her fan club to ask for more Jackie - and assuring them that she was enjoying being on the back-burner at the moment.

Unless she looks at the reality of the current state of B&B and realizes that her threatening to walk won't give her much leverage. When Darlene Conley's health started waning, the Marones kind of became the step-child second family on the show, and they had already lost Mascolo when he decided not to renew his contract when he had no story. So if they lost LAD, it would have been down to just Nick, so maybe TPTB decided to keep her on. But with the Logans reestablished now, Jackie and Nick are pretty much defined by connections to the Forresters and/or the Logans (with more of the latter of late), so the threat of LAD leaving might not be a big concern for TPTB.

The real shame is that B&B could have gotten back to being about fashion by playing up a renewed Forrester/Spectra rivalry with Jackie at the helm, but that was dropped like a hot potato, and it was after they dropped that story that Jackie got relegated to being little more than window dressing.

    • That's a name I haven't heard in a minute. Thanks!
    • Well, since I'm still up unexpected past my growing-into-it bedtime. lol.   I finally got to rewatch Monday's. I even rewatched Friday's to take it all in. Now that we got the reveal and hit the climax of the SilkPress Sheila storyline, now we get to watch the aftermath and/or turns that come with its climax. So far, so good. Friday left us with three cliffhangers. And what I found surprising was how I felt about them over a rewatch.    I know some of you all felt a way about the dialogue during Kat vs Eva. I remember liking it more the first time around and it was nice for them to have these scenes to establish more of a frenemy vibe for them going forward. That still held up. But I found myself agreeing with you all about that dialogue. lol. Still, it was nice to have both of their POVs.   Second up was Silk Press Sheila vs the Duprees. And I was happy to get a brief spat with Dani in there. But the rest standouts for me was Anita and Martin. Haters can hate and given the tail end of the episode, I will agree to a fault, but Brandon has impressed and he was on fire on Monday and had great subtle work on Friday. And that subtle work made it all the better. Like I believe I said when I was watching...BC has a much better grip on his character and seems to be realizing what his tics are so has started to be able to know when to turn it up and when to dial it down. And for the most part (emphasis on most), he got that. Meanwhile, TT was giving fierceness, and I was here for every minute of it. Her reading SilkPress. Her being quip about it. Her 'BE STILL.' Ooooo she had a chokehold on me as Anita gave what I was expecting her to SilkPress. WORTH THE WAIT. I also loved Vernon's CHOOSE SILENCE. I wonder though if SilkPress will figure out Martin's condition from her observing Anita and Vernon with him.   And speaking of worth it...Oooo YES Nicole vs Ted was worth totally worth it. Oooooo I knew DD would nail it, and it was all so well done. The fight between the part of Nicole who is a therapist vs Nicole as a woman who wants to express how she feels. And being so angry. And how there would be moments when it would shoot out of her. And how she would restrain herself. But how she felt she should not be restrain. Just the levels of processing and layers. And DD played it all so well. I do wish Maurice gave just a little bit more, but overall, I thought he did a good job even if it was just Ted coming across as a deadbeat and not at all redeemable. And Kat being there for her mother was so beautiful.   Minority, but I love the montage though yes, it did run a little long. Given how the Duprees like to bond (and also as I mentioned from my own very recent family experiences), it did not seem out of place to me.     That said...let's see how the aftermath worked in today's episode. Overall. Cuz RC can be hit or miss.
    • I wonder whose brilliant (

) idea it was to do an almost complete rip-off of the "who killed Tom King"-storyline. That's some quality style writing right there.....
    • The show is done. It got canceled at the end of January. https://www.soapoperanetwork.com/2025/02/fox-first-run-cancels-dish-nation-person-place-or-thing-pictionary-759232
    • I believe it. ESPECIALLY that last one.
    • Aristotle Dumas. Just thought I'd throw that out there!
