I didn’t realize she had it so rough in the beginning but I can say this, since Nash’s death, which gave her a shot at some real emotion, what has made Justus grow on me is Tina’s presents. The character Tina is our connection to Sarah. It’s what grounds her and makes her existence in Llanview make sense. Otherwise, why is she there? It’s not for her Aunt Vicki or Uncle Todd. They have shared the screen at best a handful of times. It’s not for her Grandpa Clint. Again, there was no connection. 2 recast characters are hard pressed to be able to pull that off. I really think that it’s Tina making the difference here.

I think things would feel a lot more natural if RC didn't have to contend with the last few of Frons and ABC's sacred cows: Michael Easton and David Fumero. It seems that the attitude is, if you have them you don't need two to four other leading males. But to me, I decided in 2003 when they had Viki's entire immediate family back onscreen (Kevin and Joey, Jessica and Natalie) that there was really no good reason for all of these four kids to not be on the show regularly. There still isn't a good reason today for Kevin and Joey not to be around, other than that they would take up time from ME and DF. The same goes for Tina and Sarah's family, CJ and Cord. While I don't expect Cord (or Clint) to become matinee idols again, I do think he could have a solid recurring presence on the show like Roxy or Carlotta, and be there to cement his side of the family, and you could do a lot more with Sarah (whoever plays her) and CJ. The only reason these characters aren't there now is because ABC seems to feel economy is the way to go when you have a "big talent" like Michael Easton - who only seems to be an appendage to RC, and I don't blame him.

I cant believe Todd is forcing Marty to relive her rape and twisting history to suit himself. The girl needs to see a doctor, not be force fed his words and manipulations

I actually enjoyed the 1968 stuff today. Rooting for Gigi and Rex

You have a much lower view of 14 year old girls than me... My twin sister was briefly obsessed with OLTL at 14 becuase of Marty's gang rape--i doubt she woulda watched a one dimensional fairy tale type plot like Mendorra (and for the record I liked the story fine--cuz so far it's been short, but...)

Oh and yes, the All I Need to Get By montage was great.

Ohhhh.

I don't know if I'm hormonal or what but I'm loving today's episode so far.

Bo and Asa

Brody and Shane

Love all the in-depth "shrink" talk. Gosh, John with Blair to save her?? So good!!

And Farah's much better as Emma. Much better. As I Brotherton's better as Clint. Although, I know the latter is not popular on this board LOL.

    • Did I ever say that? I actually don't want to, but I have no problem doing so when I feel it's truly warranted. Case in point. I'll be more respectful about how you're involving yourself in these kind of discussions when you consider doing the same. Believe me when I tell you the way you attempt to dress up this attitude has placated no one, and this is not a minority forum opinion. It is easy enough, for example, to simply say that "I think many of us have underrated JFP's skills as a woman producer in an overly misogynistic industry". It's a lot easier than spending paragraph after paragraph amusedly shaking one's head while talking down to the clueless proles of SON about their blinkered, reductive opinions. And yes, I am saying that many of us have spoken up crediting Phelps for the skills she obviously has as a technical whiz and line producer. There's nothing out of turn about acknowledging that many posters know where she excelled. Or talking about where she clearly (for many of us) didn't. You don't have to agree, but you could try listening to someone other than yourself.
    • It’s a recurring tension in Daytime: the willingness to take risks can fuel a show's longevity, but the actresses themselves often bear the long-term consequences of audience backlash.
    • I pray Eva never lets Dana back into her life, because she deserves better. Dana isn't a mother, nor is she a parent.
    • Daphnee's performance very much reminded me of Anna Holbrook's on Another World when Sharlene was dealing with John and Felicia's affair. Angry but well controlled and believable. A good start for an Emmy reel. If there is one thing an evil Black mother is going to do, it is lock you out the house. Eva shouldn't have even bothered to go home.  Leslie calling Martin "Mr. President" was interesting. How much exactly does she know about the family and has someone higher up sent her to cause trouble? Anita's speech to Leslie was dignified like Geraldine Whitney (EON) or Kim Hughes (ATWT) would have gone off on somebody.
    • Thanks for posting this, fascinating read. It's clear how ambivalent Wyndham is about Justine. IMO, it reads like she agrees that the end of the storyline was bad, but reading between the lines I think she thought she was doing good work for the meat of it....which was not the case. As bad as the writing for most of that story was, it was truly made worse by her embarrassing performance. After the story concluded she kept falling back into Justine ticks, when she wasn't phoning he scenes in. Not to play Freud, but was it to tr*ll her critics?
    • I better hear "The Emmy goes to Ambyr Michelle" come Emmy time lol
