Thanks for finding all those interviews. I wish the show got more attention but I'm happy that at least Roger Newcomb is paying attention. Why am I not surprised that the likes of DC does not give a [!@#$%^&*]? They hate soaps and always will.

Liz looks great. Seeing her ask for work is sad. She's one of the best out there. I wish someone would give her a job. I'd love to see her pop up on something like Game of Thrones as a Lannister cousin.

(yes I'm dreaming)

I've grown to simply love snarky, slimey (and now sympathetic) Nathan Bunker. House Jameson (who plays the part) is simply brilliant in the role, imo, and was actually once a rather well known actor thanks to his role as Sam Aldrich, the father on the sit-com "The Aldrich Family" which he played on both radio & tv from 1939-1953. In fact, for a brief period, GL's own Charita Bauer played his daughter. Prior to "The Doctors", he played the patriarch of the ill-fated Gregory family on "Another World."

November 1977 Daytimers.

I keep thinking about saynotoursoap's comments about his ideas not being a good fit for the show. I can sort of see that with the core families talk. The setup we're seeing on the Retro TV reruns suits it more.

His comments about Liz Hubbard, which are a more polite way of saying "bye, bitch!" amuse me, as he wrote and wrote for her on ATWT.

Not a big fan of Julia Duffy either.

I think so, too. John is really going to take Polly's impending loss hard, and he deserves a good woman to love and who will love him. Why should his cousin Dr. Steve "I love all the women of the world" Aldrich have all the fun?

In episode two, we also get our first glance at the first Maggie replacement, Kathleen Murray (who passed away the following year of cancer). The only clue we get that this lady is Maggie is because Miss Murray is wearing the same brown dress with a stripe on it under her lab coat that Bethel Leslie wore in the first episode. No voiceover is heard saying, "Today the role of Dr. Maggie Powers will be played by..."

Does Bethel ever come back, or does Lydia Bruce immediately follow Kathleen Murray?

I also loved the moment Althea and Nick shared in the lounge following the surgery (the first operation we've gotten to see!) - and it was pure magic. I loved the way Nick looked at her as she left to go back to the clinic. Plus, Gerald Gordon looked pretty good in scrubs!!!

I just wanted Nick and Althea to give in to their feelings and fall into each others' arms, and to also discuss the fact they both have seen The Kooky Kraut in action after Matt! By the way, how about when Althea chided Maggie about her stubborness? Look in the mirror, Dr. Davis- aren't you stubborn about your lingering feelings for Nick? My God- I was so worried Polly was going to kick the bucket during Bonnie's visit. She could go any minute. :(

I also noticed there was no announcement of Ms. Murray taking over for Bethel Leslie. Lydia Bruce becomes Maggie in the summer, so we should see Ms. Leslie back after a few weeks. It's amazing how primitive surgery was in 1968 compared to today- technology has made a lot of changes in 46 years!

    • Amanda Setton and Rena Sofer was once again really good in today's episode.  As a Lucky/Liz fan, I didn't like their scenes either.  And they are nowhere near a proposal because they haven't been given a real story.
    • I don't think Lulu is written that badly.  Lucky they do seem to have no real interest in. I wonder if this is another story they have decided to wrap up abruptly as it makes zero sense to have what would have clearly been serious conflict between Liz and Lucky just get shrugged off by her. Maybe the intense viewer negativity toward Kristina got through to them.
    • This is what kills me about the complaints that the show is moving too slow. I don't think any of the other soaps has revealed as much as BTG has in the same time frame. Not only are stories moving but it's rotating as well. Y&R has been teasing that Dumas character since February with no reveal in sight. B&B was one day for the majority of May with very limited storylines. GH had a strong final week of May but the storylines had been dragging for months prior to that. I appreciate that BTG doesn't focus so much on recapping and keeps the stories moving. I have anticipation about certain ones like Martin and Anita's secrets but I'm not worried about it because the writers have proven they will keep these stories moving at a strong pace.
    • John and Marlena's love story is over.

As I started watching in 1993, and they became my favourite couple because of storylines like The Affair, Maison Blanche, The Possession, Aremid, and The Secret Room - just five straight years of amazing stories.  The funny thing is, in all of those stories, John and Marlena were never truly together, but I was fine with that because I knew how much they loved each other - Deidre and Drake just had so much chemistry and made it so believable.   Deidre was fantastic today, especially in that last scene where Marlena told John it was okay for him to rest now.  I agree with @j swift, that having a body for Marlena, and everyone else, to say goodbye to was the right choice, as well as just having Marlena there alone as John dies.   Marlena: John, I love you so…. John: I love you too, Doc. Marlena: I need you to listen to me.  You have put up the bravest fight I have ever seen. The thing is I….I know you’re weary, I know you’re suffering…..If you need to go, it’s okay. I know that you’re worried me, about the children….You have given us all the love we will ever need. We will always have you in our memories. We will always hold you in our hearts. So…it’s okay if you rest now. You can rest now.   Bo and Hope are my second favourite couple, so for them to be part of this episode made it even more special.  I loved the inclusion of Zack - in the flashback and in the family scene at the Brady Pub.  John dies and Bo wakes up.  Two great love stories intertwining and showcased (loved the flashbacks!) in today's very emotional episode.     Great recap @Bright Eyes
    • Given the way both Lulu and Lucky are written I can guess.  Do Lulu and Lucky even speak?  Lol Liz is useful to prop one of Frank's pets when they are failing, I suppose. It's shame GH loves to do the opposite of what fans want.
    • Lol. I understand. For me, it's just John and Marlena are the couple that introduced me to DAYS and Young Me had such a crush on him since I saw his attractive self at Maison Blanche. And whether I regularly viewed or not, I always tried to stay checked in to how they were doing. Also Drake always was a cool man in interviews so I know today's episode is going to hit where it hurts.   I know I will have to watch eventually. Work, life, and internet connection are setbacks without me stalling. And I can say that I'm stalling somewhat. At least...like GH episodes on my system...I have some time before they get deleted, but I'm going to be a sobbing mess.

he’ll talk more as you continue your viewing  it’s such a jarring transition in ‘93 to Courtland Mead with his hammy sitcom delivery
    • Frank does not care about them and resents having to write for at least one of them.
    • I’m watching it tonight. I’ve been watching the new episodes simultaneously as I catch up in May
