Laryssa Lauret article from TV Guide. It was quite a coup for Laryssa/The Doctors to have this published as TV Guide seldom dealt with soaps.

PORTRAIT OF A HUSBAND STEALER By Edith Efron

Yes, thanks for this! Looking online, it's from the September 7, 1968 issue of TV guide. It's accompanied by a photo of Laryssa Lauret and her kids. I wish they would have ran it without her wearing that silly black wig; or included a picture of her as a blonde; I would have loved to have seen her natural hair! Reading it, the article seems more inspired by the Cold War than whatever popularity she had on The Doctors.

Speaking of 1980, where was the intent behind bringing on Darcy, Alan, and Brad? Do you think they were trying to freshen things up?

Just now seeing this and I see there are some great responses. At that point of the show, I just think they were trying to draw in a younger audience. The show was still airing at 2:30pm ET and it had very strong competition.

Recent photo of Sylvia Guffey Parsons (Nurse Phoebe Claric). She was featured in the A&E documentary series "Intervention" and completely turned her life around becoming an interventionist

I forgot about those good spats Mona and Carolee used to have. Meg Mundy towered over Jada Rowland. Their scenes are always a pleasure.

Variety reported in Oct 1970 that Gerald Gordon flew to LA to test for a role in The Godfather.

Can't blame Gerry for aiming high....

Thanks @DRW50 Seems like everyone else could see the problems with The Doctors except those who could actually do something about it.

At that time Katherine on Y&R and Phoebe on AMC were very popular characters with younger viewers  and Meg Mundy was a powerhouse so of course put her on the chopping block...

I think The Doctors could have survived if NBC had left it in its 2:00 timeslot.  I dont know what Fred Silverman was thinking in making AW an hour and a half a day, once that did not work, creating Texas and making that show an hour instead of a half hour.  I saw the 1980 episodes and they are way better than what is being written on soaps today.

One of the programmers who worked for him, without giving his or her name, said that they did the 90 minute show because they couldn't think of anything better to try. Meaning they were just itching to change it somehow & how wasn't important only that they did so was.

I am not now watching The Doctors. I watched it live first run through but in discussion with some fans I was surprised that RetroTV is removing the copyright credit lines from some episodes. Does anyone know why they're doing that?

Actor Mark Goddard, who played Lt. Paul Reed on The Doctors during its final year, has passed away.

Here is a short obituary.   (Hopefully, a better one will become available):

Mark Goddard, who played Major Don West, the hot-tempered pilot of the Jupiter 2, on the 1960s CBS adventure series Lost on Space, has died. He was 87.

Goddard died Tuesday in Hingham, Massachusetts, his wife Evelyn Pezzulich told The Hollywood Reporter

Goddard had worked as a regular on the Four Star Television series Johnny Ringo and The Detectives when he was approached by his agent about coming aboard the new Lost on Space, created and produced by Irwin Allen.

Saturday 1980 episode airdates and links for October 2023

Saturday 2-4pm RetroTV airdates and commercial free links for this month (links shared from the It's Real Good TV phone app)

The airdates on the website from Feb 12-July 20,1980 (July 19 & 20,1980 were actually on a Saturday & Sunday) are about 2-4 days ahead,so please disregard the Watch The Doctors social media posts promoting the dates, they are wrong.
When the 1980 episodes were first posted on July 11,most of the airdates were correct.
The July 21-Sept 29,1980 airdates look to be correct.
