Regarding the format of the episode (told in flashback through Marilyn's call to Fisher) I remember the show did several episodes like this around this period (surf carnival episodes told from Vinnie and Tom Nash's points of view and another episode that I think was something like an article/journal/essay that Shannon was writing).

I'm really enjoying the Charlotte storyline (Season finale in NZ is today, followed by Eye for an Eye tomorrow which is getting a free to air run in NZ) and like how she's pissing everyone off. I like how her story has been tied into the main plot strands of the past year (Andy killing Jake as revenge for Casey, Billie and Kat's rivalry, Brax faking his death, Marilyn's amnesia even). The show on the whole is actually quite entertaining at the moment.

That's a blow to the show. From what little I recently saw, the show had improved a little. Marilyn's amnesia story was quite engaging, even if there was missed opportunities in not bringing back past characters for the story, and Charlotte's story seemed interesting, and reminded me of Josie Russell's intro back when Dan Bennett was in charge.

I don't know why they always burn through these types of characters so quickly (except for the Braxtons, who they continue to milk to death). Do you think killing her off was premature? It always seems to be their go-to plot of choice.

I've always thought that all three of the "antipodean" soaps (H&A, Neighbours, Shortland Street) have been quite reluctant to commit to long term storylines (particularly H&A). Villians such as Charlotte will only last about six to nine months....a year at the absolute most (Characters such as the Braxtons and Paul Robinson being a slightly different kettle of fish).

In Charlotte's case, obviously she was brought on to be this year's cliffhanger drama. It's actually good that she was brought on five to six months before the end of the year instead of arriving five to six weeks before. But I do feel that Charlotte had not yet outlived her purpose and could have done much more.

I'm not sure if this was ever posted here, but Hulu is putting up episodes of the show. As is the case with Corrie, they upload one episode Monday through Friday and are two weeks behind from Australia. I assume this will continue two weeks after the new season starts. They have one season up.

I've been watching the show (for the first time in about 20 years) since it returned in the UK this year, specifically for the Charlotte storyline. She's such a great character! And the boy who plays her son, Hunter, has to be the hottest male in Summer Bay.

The girl playing Olivia, Irene's new dependant, is very compelling too.

Not sure how many weeks we are behind Aus, but I'll keep watching while this Charlotte story plays out.

    •     data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAPABAP///wAAACH5BAEKAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAICRAEAOw== Janice Frame is Evan's mother. Janice & Mac were together. Janice was up to no good. Mitch was helping her. She was slowly, little by little, every day, POISONING Mac. She was almost successful. In St. Croix, Rachel & Janice began what was literally a physical fight. They fell into the resort swimming pool, continuing to fight each other. Somehow, I guess Janice had it on her, there was a knife in play but Rachel kept Janice from stabbing her & got it away from her & they continued to struggle until Rachel stabbed Janice, which was a death blow. Mitch did a 180 & helped Rachel get Mac to the hospital. He was so weakened by the poison he could not even stand unassisted. It took both of them together to walk him to the hospital but it did save his life.  The St. Croix remote was SO beautiful, but so dangerous & scary. Also action-packed.     data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAPABAP///wAAACH5BAEKAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAICRAEAOw== Hooray! Maxim's back

    • I do not think I have ever agreed with Vee. Normally I do not read him, Ignore ya know. For some unknown reason I clicked to read. And I agree 1000%. Now, this is so odd that I need to go away for a bit.
    • Justine had a lot of hooey in it, but she was an actual woman, not a guy in drag. She was a doppelganger of Rachel, French, having had a past history with Carl, etc. Two of the more outrageous parts-Justine bricking alive Vicky into a wall & Justine grinding the gears driving a big rig.
    • Hehe, twi/x actually x, formerly Twitter. Typically I find 2 sources for "crazy fan rumors" - the wrong parts of FB and x. Oy.
    • Not to hijack the thread, but was that character Justine? I just found this interview online with Logan and see what you're talking about - wow!   http://www.anotherworldhomepage.com/chat85.html
    • My bad….ill fix that  Fixed
    • Where do you discover this crazy rumor??
    • Jill Farren Phelps was always very skilled at saying what she meant onscreen in the bluntest way possible, like whenever she wanted fans to support one character vs. the other (hence Megan McTavish groaning about having to write Kale Browne's Sam Rappaport into three days a week at OLTL). Perhaps you should consider doing the same. Historically your intent is always far more obvious than your efforts at coy embroidery anyway. You believe people are dismissing Phelps' accomplishments, and suggest misogyny and fan blinders allow people to too easily pigeonhole and dismiss her skill set. I think we all understand her varied skill set. We're saying it's not enough to make up for her deficiencies as a storyteller and creative. JFP was undoubtedly a skilled technical producer. As a solo storyteller, and de facto HW, she was a repeat and predictable failure. She was not the first or last EP (male or female) to think she was a writer. If you want us to stop taking your behavior personally when you suggest misogyny is at play in board opinions of JFP, perhaps you should consider spending the next 10+ years here not acting like you're the only one who gets it.
