Honestly, has EE ever had an Xmas episode that wasn't doom and gloom? I am asking for the long-term fans. I've watched the show on and off since about '02 (when they'd show episodes on PBS in my area and later on YT). But I don't think I've ever read of the show having a simplistic Christmas that was family-oriented with little family drama.

Probably not! Of course, their highest-rated episode ever was Christmas 1986 with Den serving Angie with divorce papers. At least no one died LOL I'm okay with that being the show's thing, I just know I'll never go head-first into enjoying it unless they really blow me away (no bombs necessary).

Oh I would for Max to come back! :D And I agree with you that if he returns, he should move away from the ladies on the show and move on with someone else. Especially Stacey. And I would looove for Tanya to come back! I love her! :D But I have seen Jo Joyner in some shows on Netflix, so I guess she has a career outside of EE, so I doubt she would come back.

Also, I need to look up Jake Woods on IG, it seems :D

I keep forgetting that Jo keeps booking stuff with Netflix. Yeah, if I were her, I wouldn't look back right now if I am landing stuff with Netflix.

I cannot go another round of Max pining after Stacey. That ship has sailed a long time ago.

And you will probably love Jake's IG. He's giving you a lot of thirst material with him in the gym: https://www.instagram.com/mrjakewood/

SN: I didn't know he was anti-royal too. I've always wondered how truly popular it is amongst the Brits. I know Northern Ireland has utter disdain for them. But that's another topic and thread.

I don't think they'll ever be able to top Den and Angie's Xmas episode. It was just plotted so well. Maybe it is because I am American, and when I think of Xmas soap episodes, my mind always drifts to the P&G soaps--filled with family, warmth, hope, and minimal drama.

Oh yes, Jo should just keep those Netflix checks coming as long as possible :D

Thanks for the IG, I will check it out! I always found Jake attractive.

And I can see what you mean about family oriented, warm episodes for Christmas. I don't mind drama, but not all the time. It would be nice to have a happy cheerful family Christmas for once, where no one reveals anyone's secret and no one gets murdered. :D

Speaking of nice warm scenes, I actually really enjoyed recent Whitney/Zack/kid scenes. Where Zack dresses up as Zebra-man. That was cute and sweet. And I would like more scenes like that for other characters.

2016, which was, unfortunately, slated, leading to a return of episodes like this one - months of bad stories stalled out for the sake of one episode a year that has many viewers who immediately stop watching again.

Now Elaine is singing "Simply Having a Wonderful Christmastime," haha. The camp of it all.

But UK People don’t like that tbh. They did with Corrie and the fans complained about how boring it was. lol But I guess those are the same that complain when there is always doom and gloom around Christmas

Haha At first I did not really like Elaine, but I am starting to like her more and more actually :D And the whole communal choir thing with Yolande was fun :D

I am loving how camp she is. Now, I cannot wait for Shirley to come back and go head-to-head with her, haha.

Oh I can only imagine Shirley's interaction with Elaine :D

I forgot she was coming back. I was looking for a return date now, but couldn't find one :(

I wish people would finally give up on Shirley. Didn’t the actress signed a gig with a morning show? It seems to me she has no desire to hurry back right now

There is no set return, but when Linda Henry left it was told to press she'd be back.

I'll never give up on Shirley's return. And Henry hasn't signed any kind of morning gig.

Linda Henry is not with a morning show, but I don't think she will be back anytime soon.

(if it means she can avoid all that cackling, good for her)

Ah I see.. so who knows when she'll be back.. oh well, lets hope she at least comes for a visit. I mean, with Dean around, it would be good to have her as well to play it off..

OMG! Watching the Christmas episode. All of the women vs. Nish is iconic. I love this. so much! Love seeing such female solidarity! A rarity in soaps!

Oh wow, you have caught up quickly :)

I won't comment further before you see the follow up...

I just watched 29 December..

I just really dont like what Gina is doing, regarding her friendship with Dean. And I wonder if he will force himself on her at some point.

Bobby/Kathy moment was touching.

The Six storyline is not perfect, but I am enjoying it. And once Rocky is gone, I assume Nish will wake up and be the next issue for the ladies. And this is my main question, what do they plan to do when Nish wakes up. They mentioned it briefly how they will deal with it when they get there.. but I am curious.
